I went on a double date this past weekend with my best friends and girlfriend. It was recommended to us bc of their tiramisu. Before making the reservation I checked out the menu and it seemed to have all the fixings of a great Italian restaurant (seafood salad, homemade pastas, veal chop, and swordfish). So we made the reservation. Once we stepped in it took at least 5 minutes to be greeted at the door by a busy waiter. There was no hostess and the place was packed. Our waiter then showed us to our table in the middle of this noisy restaurant. Since it was BYOB we brought our own wine. We had the wine on the table waiting for our waiter to open it for 10 minutes! we had to flag him down to open our bottle and bring glasses. Our bread came out before the bottle was opened. We ordered; fresh mozzarella, seafood salad for apps, and 2 veal chops, pork chop, and swordfish. The bread was pretty good. IT was hot and soft. The seafood salad was bland and non-existent. It consisted of mini calamari rings, 1 clam, 1 shrimp, and 1 mussel. The mozzarella plate was good and also had grilled veggies drizzled with aged balsamic. We finished our bottle of wine and being situated in red bank we were able to order a delivery of another bottle of wine, which came pronto. However it took another 10 minutes and myself having to flag down the waiter to open it again. Glasses were not changed or even offered for the new bottle. Finally our main course came out, the veal looked delicious the pork chop too but I could not find my swordfish next to the mound of seafood rissotto. I even asked the waiter if this was a kids portion. Reluctantly I tried a piece of my half portion swordfish and it was fishy and dry. I was immediately turned off. I gave the rissotto a taste and it was pasty. I had no choice but to ask for something else. I just couldnt eat it. I was offered to order something else and ordered the Duck Papardelle which was pretty good. I asked my friends how their chops were and I remember one saying, "Im tired of chewing." I tried my girlfriends veal chop and it was tasteless and dry. Since we had to make a movie we were not able to try the tiramisu, which was the original reason why we were going. Our waiter or I should say server, bc all he did was serve us, made no effort to apologize for the upsetting dish I recieved. What a waste of good food. For what this meal cost ($130) I couldve made a better meal and still had money left over for another. Sorry, but red bank has much better food to offer.

Last night, though I made a reservation after 5:45 pm for that same evening, no one bothered to mention the air conditioning had gone out earlier in the day. The temperature outside was more than 85 degrees. I showed up with two elderly parents. When we ordered, our waiter mentioned there "had been an issue in the kitchen that day, so the shopping did not get done, and there was no fusilli for my dish". I should have left. When questioned as to the nature of the issue, he said everything was ok now, but he failed to mention the lack of air conditioning as well. It felt warm sitting at our table, but shortly, as the evening progressed, the situation became intolerable. My mother and I did not finish our meals, and we all left. I told the waiter that they should have admitted the problem when I made the reservation. A different waitress came to our table and asked me, "what did you think, should I have called all 15 reservations to let them know?" I do believe she should have, and when I called, they should have let me know immediately. The establishments lack of consideration for the patrons -for short term "gain" of a few booked tables -was extremely poor judgement. The experience made me question their operation in general as they cared so little for their customers well being. I will never go back.

We used to dine here quite often, but had not been here for a few months until last night (a Saturday). The place was packed and very very loud. Our server was pleasant and attentive even though he was super busy. They had updated their menu since our last visit. We always started our dinner with Fried Calamari. But the new version was not as good. It was over-fried, and thus not as tender, even though it was still flavorful. Our favorite entree was Seafood Arrabbiata. But sadly to say, the new version was not as good either. It used to include a couple of big scallops in addition to shrimps, squids, clams, and mussels. Scallops had disappeared from the new version and the dish now came with lots more big mussels. I dont particularly like mussels, especially big ones. The presentation also suffered because of the change. Our other entree was Puttanesca Risotto with Octopus and Fish of the day (flounder). The fish was well cooked and tasty, but Octopus was over cooked and thus slightly chewy. On our previous visits, we also loved their Panko coated Double cut pork chop. I would rather they increase the price than sacrifice the quality of the dishes/ingredients

Thank you so much Lisa. My daughter & I enjoyed your fine cuisine, but your kind hospitality (not found ) in most restaurants was also very sincere. Keep a table warm & ready, you can be assured we will be back ASAP. I had the Salmon-Shrimp (@ the top of the menu) & it was "Out Of This World". My daughter Hannah had the special (Salmon) & she was raving all the way home. Thanks Again.......

Consistently Good! I have been to Monticello quite a few times and have never had a bad experience. I have tried out every new and old restaurant in Red Bank but Monticello always sticks out as my favorite. Their poached pear salad is unforgettable. They have a variety of pre fixe menus, gluten free options, as well as a BOYB policy so its hard to beat!

One of my favorites! We were a party of four, and our waitress was Eileen. We couldnt ask for better service. Our food was fabulous to say the least. The pear/gorgonzola appetizer was majestic. The clams were tender and tastefully delicious. Our main meals were made with perfection!!! I cannot wait to go back!

My boyfriend ordered steak here and it was still bleeding inside. He asked for them to cook it more and he got it back still cold and red inside. The food is not very good at all for the price and the service was horrendous. Go to La Pasteria or Gaetanos for much better italian food.

Meal was fantastic!! On Mothers day where most places rush you through your meal, this place was just the opposite. Food was outstanding and the service was just as good. Fist time here and will definitely be back again.
