I made a reservation at Morris Tap & Grill for ourValentines dinner with by husband. Since this was our first visit to this restaurant, we were not sure what to expect. However, we took our chance and decided to try itbased on a recommendation of a friend who is a foodie and raves about this restaurant. We were lucky enough to get a table near a very warm and cozy Fireplace. They called this room "Tree Room" as they have a big tree trunk in the middle of the room. The ambience in their Tree room was very romantic, cozy and comortable. We knew that if the food and service is as good as the the ambience, we were in for a very good night. To tell you the truth, food was amazing and service was good. We ordered from the Valentines day specials menu. I started of with a glass of red wine while my husband chose to go with a flight of craft beers (which they have a huge list of - I think 90+). We shared Thai Chicken tacos which came with Lotus Root salad and duck meatballs. Both dishes were presented very well and falvors were just great. For main course, I had Garlic roasted Portobello which was served with Sweet Potato and some sort of pepper sauce with vegetable spring roll. This was an amazing vegan dish and presentation was as good if not better than how good the dish tasted. Johns Pan Seared Sea Bass Fillet which was served with chowder and curry oil was equally good. I couldnt resist tasting it ... The portions were pretty big so we decided to pass on desserts. However, that changed immediately when the server brought out the dessert tray. Just based on how the desserts looked, we couldnt stop ourselves from ordering something. We shared choc. mousse crunch which again had a very good presentation, texture and flavors. We were glad that we tried the dessert. Desserts alone is worth going back to morris tap and grill. Our waiter seemed to know most of the items on the menu and we were pleased with the service. We are plesantly surprised to find a restaurnt like this in Randolph. Good food, great ambiance. Once we went home, I tried to research more about the restaurant and ended up on their facebook page. I found out that they have a new chef, Eric levine, who was fetured on food networks "Chopped". I think we did see the chef talking to some other tables when we were at the restaurant. I am sure that this place probably packs up on weekends and special occasions like Valentines day, so make your reservation. We plan to go back again to try their brunch and new spring menu which their facebook page said will be coming out in March...

Morris Tap & Grill (MTG) has emerged from a wall flower to the jewel of - at least - Morris County. Staff & Service: Very friendly, accommodating, quick & highly educated about their products. They always take well care of us, if we are eating in the rustic restaurant or just have drinks at the cozy bar with one of the largest beer selections you can find while listening to live music on the week-end. Food & Favorites: First & foremost is their superb & outstanding food quality. What Chef Eric brings out on mouthwatering creations shows his passion for great food. Our top 5 appetizers are French Onion Soup (homemade & you can taste it), Tuna Tartare, Steamed Mussels, Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll (share with 2) & the Wild Mushroom-Goat Cheese Flat Bread. And as always in every restaurant around the globe you can judge the entire establishment by its appetizers. Our top 5 entrees we love are Flat Iron Steak, Seared Scallops, Pan Seared Salmon, Stuffed Acorn Squash (Vegan) & Masala Aloo Gobi (Vegan). From the desserts try Bacon Gelato, yes! & it tastes unbelievable balanced. Maps: MTG is only 15 min from I-287/I-80. We brought friends, clients & business partners, and all of them came back. Summary: Food, Ambience & Service as its best.

Great New Years Eve Dinner at Morris Tap and Grill. This is the first visit we had at this restaurant in Randolph. We had a reservation for 7:00 PM and we were promptly seated. Server brought the menus and explained about their drink and food specials. I was blown away with the selection of beers, cocktails and wines they had. I care only about thei beer and if you are a beer fan like I am, This place is you heaven. I have not seen a selection of beer like theirs in NW Morris county. I had Fort Colloins Kid Lager and Magic hat draught. Wife chose to go with one of their speciality cocktails. We shared a Calamari appetizer - It was good but not the best we ever had. I also had a French Onion soup which is one of the best I ever had!!! I ordered Rack of Lamb from their specials. It was tender and juicy. She ordered Cendar plank salmon dish which was equally good. We were just too full to try any of their desserts though we did look at the menu. They had usual cheese cake, lava cake, apple pie and ice creams. Didnt see anything too exciting. Overall it was a good experience. The place had a good ambience and service was equally good. Will be going back again.

My wife and I always went to Fridays as our "spot" until we went to the Morris Tap and Grill (MTG). Chef Eric Levine truly cares about all his guests. Every time we come to the restaurant he comes to our table personally to see how our meal is. He will even converse with us for a few minutes, really treating us like his friend. We have never had a meal there that has been nothing less than amazing. We go to the MTG all the time now. For my wifes birthday, something wacky happened to my wifes burger that defies the laws of physics, she ordered her burger well done and when it came to the table, the MIDDLE of the burger was well done, but the outer edges were rare. Chef Eric immediately corrected the situation and even made my wife a "grand dessert" for her birthday on the house, which wasnt even on the menu! He made it specially for her! This past weekend we brought my grandparents to the MTG as they still had no power from Hurricane Sandy, and Chef Eric offered us a free round of drinks. This is by far the best restaurant weve ever been to. Great atmosphere, but most of all great people. FIRE IT UP!!!!!!!

Have been there a few times, usually at just the bar but occasionally get a table with friends. All times it has been a great culinary experience, while the people half of the equation is always a mystery. All times Ive gone, the wait staff have been more than courteous, if not aware of what the needs of the group were and accommodating. When busy the staff loses a little luster, but understandable when the pressures on. Overall, good people who try hard. The food has been something that I cant get enough of; flavor experiments that always astound, with portion amounts that leave just enough room for a favorite drink at the end. The chef is a perfectionist, evidenced in his need to check on people occasionally and share stories of how he came up with entree ideas, and ensure he remains at the top of his trade. Draft choices have always been pretty good, but very rare to get a deal on anything, even on tap, so be ready to spend on a good beer.
