I am very disappointed in the customer service and willingness to accommodate my needs. I googled a search for a mexican restaurant in town and La Constenita came up. I looked up the menu directly linked to the restaurant and the only shrimp dish I saw I ordered and I was unaware that is was in a very spicy red sauce. It said chipolte shrimp with rice and plantains. My husband picked up the take out and as soon as I saw the red sauce, I knew it was not for me so I called immediately and the person who answered the phone was no help at all. She said there was nothing she could do and she didnt know when the owner would be in and I should just try calling back another day. I asked her if I could get something else and she told me she couldnt. I left my name and number to have someone call me back and to my surprise the owner called back, but refused to do anything. I wonder why she even called. She told me that she has no website and I should have looked at the take-out menu and she refused to believe that there was a direct link under her restaurant that had a menu. I am very frustrated that she even bothered to call and I guess satisfying a customer is not as important to her as a single sale of a meal. I will not be ordering from there ever again and I guess we will be going elsewhere for Mexican food

The first time I went - great! The second time - meh 3rd time - messy food 4th - terrible service The quality of service just kept going down from the first visit. The owner, on the first visit, served my order and prepared the meal herself. It was wonderful. Made my tummy happy. Oh my it had been a while since I had authentic Mexican food. After then, the second visit, they got my order wrong and the owner wasnt around . The 3rd visit, I ordered the same thing I order each time the spicy shrimp to Tostadas and they went low on the shrimp, didnt make it spicy, barely had vegetables and the platter was messy. I didnt care to say anything, because I was soooo hungry and ate the food anyway. The last visit, I waited for about 30 minutes to be attended to, someone else walked and the owner took their order while I was still standing there. Seriously! I mean I never said anything to them and never met them before except when order food from the restaurant- I dont think I deserved such treatment. Either way - hungry or not, Im never going there again! The 2 stars is for the first experience...

If there was an option to put 0 stars I would. I would even dare to put a negative 1 star if it was possible to express my extreme displeasure with my food. I had a empanada as an appatizer which was on par with something you would get out of a vending machine in Walmart. Then for my entree I had soft Carne asada tocas. What A Joke! I had one bite and was immediately done with my meal. I almost wanted to go down the street and buy soft taco from taco bell and bring back to the owner to explain to her that even though I wouldnt feed taco bell to my dog it would be an insult to taco bell to compare the two!

Ordered to go. Said food would be ready at 7:30. At 8:00 - and they are sweeping up - food still not ready. I asked about it and the woman making the food looked up and said - oh Im too slow? - in a very sarcastic way. The food: Burrito - dry as a bone - no taste. Tamale - Unrecognizable. A blob of orange paste wrapped in a leaf. Nachos did not have melted cheese just blobs of white cheese sprinkled around. I will never go there again. Bad customer service - bad food.

Youll get a warm welcome and great food at this small grocery cum restaurant. Everything made from scratch, and you can customize anything on the menu. This is a regular weekly so on our dining rota. Youre not going to find typical American style bean and cheese tacos and burritos... Food here will be much closer to what youd actually find in Mexico than at Taco Bell, so dont be one of those complainers who come in looking for the latter.

Some of the most authentic and delicious Mexican food Ive ever eaten. The atmosphere and decor makes you feel like you walked right into a little family owned shop in Oaxaca. My favorite are the Chorizo tacos, which are pleasantly spicy and delicious. I also would recommend the burritos or the quesadillas, but really any and all of the food is good. The ladies behind the counter do a fantastic job and it pays to know a little Spanish!

Delicious food. Wonderful atmosphere with great music the entire time. Humble and cozy setting indeed… made me miss Mexico. The owner is very sweet, as are the employees. Everything is made fresh. On the walls you can see the restaurants achievements, which includes being featured by the star ledger and being recommended on trip advisor. Highly recommend.

A hidden gem in Hillsborough, NJ. Ive been going here for two years and there isnt one thing on the menu short of spectacular. If youre a picky eater or if you cant handle spice, be sure to brush up on your Spanish. These ladies are the real deal and put every "authentic" Mexican spot in the Northeast to shame.

The food is flavorless and greasy and the service is somehow worse than the food. On top of that, everything on the menu is overpriced. There is a cute little market area where you can buy Mexican pantry items, but thats the only redeeming thing about this place.

Pleasant little taqueria in small grocery store. Fresh food; friendly owner. You wont be happy if you like tacos like Taco Bell style with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and flour tortillas, but if you like Mexico City style youll be fine.

I regularly come here for lunch because they will make you whatever you want and it tastes great. Drinks all have real sugar and not hfcs. Nice employees that look like they truly enjoy their work and service for you. A+

Best authentic Mexican food Ive had in New Jersey! Dont expect typical America Mexican food though. The burritos are tightly wrapped with delicious cheese and the empinadas are cheap, fried deliciousness

Great place for authentic Mexican tacos in Hillsborough. simple and affordable for the 3 taco special. Meats were appropriately marinated and reminded me of typical Mexican food from Mexico.
