Im sure that the hotel is very nice and up until today I thought the restaurant was very nice but we had a horrible experience and the restaurant at the American Hotel today. Our service was terrible, our server either lost or misappropriated $80 from the bill which included his tip, and the manager didnt want to bother to find out what happened and instead told us that we needed to pay the bill that we already paid so altogether we were now out of $120 and the manager couldnt care less when we told him we will never come back. His answer was "thats fine". If you decide to eat there please make sure you ask your server to count the cash before he walks away from the table or just pay with a credit card.

GREAT EXPERIENCE. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. VERY CLEAN AND EVERYONE WAS PLEASANT AND ACCOMODATING. I GAVE A 5 STAR RATING BUT ON OTHER SITES I SEE IT RECEIVED A 3.5. ID DEF CONSIDER MORE OF A 4 STAR OR 4.5 STAR HOTEL IN MY EYES. WE HAD A ROOM TOWARDS THE BACK THAT WAS VERY QUIET AND WE WERE TOLD THE ROOMS IN THE FRONT CAN BE LOUD DUE TO A WEDDING THEY WERE HAVING. THE ROOMS WITH THE VERANDA SEEMS SO AMAZING AND IF I WERE DOING A GIRLS NIGHT OUT THE ROOM WITH THE NOISE AND VERANDA WOULD HAVE BEEN OK WITH ME. AS FOR A GOODS NIGHTS SLEEP ID ALWAYS INQUIRE ABOUT THE ROOMS IN THE BACK OF THE HOTEL. WE HAD ROOM 309 AND IT WAS VERY QUIET.

I have had the pleasure of dining here for the first time. They truly payed attention to detail when putting all of the decor in this fabulous old restaurant. It was a great feeling of being in an old film or setting in which you would only imagine in your dreams. No matter which room you dined in they give you an environment to which you just feel majestic. The service was great they were very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was great. I had the salmon with risotto which was mouthwatering. The Martini was awesome! Thanks John McCarthy I was able to enjoy a wonderful evening, you and your staff were perfect.

I planned a retirement party in The Market Grill Restaurant for about 20 of my co-workers. I worked with Catherine who was incredibly kind and accommodating. She was always available when I had a question or concern. All of the staff went out of their way for us and the food was truly excellent. Everyone in the party was extremely impressed with the entire experience and everyone said they would be back. I really cant say enough good things about this restaurant. I would have another event here without a second thought!

Located in the heart of Freehold NJ; friendly and competent staff; comfy and amply-sized rooms. Free continental breakfast--I only wish that the breakfast yogurt wasnt only the type with gelatin and sucralose, but thats a minor thing. On Saturday nights, the sound of the live band in the first-floor bar reaches some rooms on the second floor, which might disturb some light or early sleepers on that floor. All in all, a nice hotel.

When there for lunch during the week, food was great. I had the special which was a skirt steak sandwich with carmelized onions and cheddar cheese along with fries. It was filling and i had to take home half the sandwich. As a group we also had Brie for an appetizer. It came in bread and was presented well. Location was beautiful, the service was a little long. We were there for about an hour and 15 minutes

nice little hotel in Freehold town proper; clean, quiet, pleasant, confy, classy... easy parking in back, too. but disappointing breakfast (like, really stingy! probably they only have a few guests, as its not a large hotel, but perhaps they should have a local eatery be under contract to bring actual real, hot breakfasts to guests, because DAMN, that was a sad meal to end our visit on.)

The hotel is beautiful, and the service was very good. Unfortunately we were there for a shower on one if the hottest days of recent history, and their air conditioning could not keep up, at all. It made for a very uncomfortable experience, trying to chit chat, eat our really very good lunch, and enjoy my cousins celebration while trying not to sweat all over each other

We are planning our wedding reception here --Jim and Joy will bend over backwards to make certain the details of your event are perfect. The restaurant has excellent and creative food with a pleasant and chill atmosphere. If youre thinking about booking an event here, do not hesitate! Looking for a fun place with live music Saturday nights, this is the spot.

My wife and I went for a cousins 1st Holy Communion. They booked a ball-room and it was plenty of room for the 30+ of us that gathered there to celebrate. The food was very well done. The prime rib was my favorite. Staff was attentive and professional but also knew how to blend into the background as to not be distracting.

staff went above and beyond to book 4 rooms for unexpected death in family, was told the bar area gets very loud till after midnight and noise would be heard on 2nd floor, which was ok, but then after bar close security in hotel was very lax, as were numerous drunks running from room to room slamming doors all night long,

The hotel was located in a central area easy to get to. Parking behind the hotel was trouble free for a weekend. We did not have time to check the surrounding area on foot since we were late for our event, but driving past we could see plenty of stores and restaurants in addition to the restaurant and bar at the hotel.

I was at the American Hotel recently for a Bridal Shower. Everything from the food, to the service, to the decor was great! There was plenty of room for the 60+ people that were in attendance. I would recommend this place to anyone that is thinking of having a party (shower, engagement, communion, etc.)

Recently went to American Hotel for a wedding. Really nice interior and exterior, definitely old fashioned. Service was great, and the food was good too, however sometimes the dishes werent being replaced fast enough. Other than that though, great place and would highly recommend.

Wonderful place, very homey, aesthetic and pleasant atmosphere. We are traveling here for business, and are returning for the 3rd time. Service is professional, food is great, the terrace reminds me of Paris. Definitely recommended. (Restaurant is also called Market Yard Grille!)

I have only eaten here outside in the appropriate seasons and have gone to the bar for drinks.The inside dining seems a little more formal. I had a French onion steak dish that Id love to have again soon! Also, if theres a wedding going on its hard to find parking in the lot.

Good energy good vibes. Service is on point. 22 hotel rooms, 3 catering halls for hosting events, outdoor patios for dining, lounge, bar, and restaurant make the hotel an experience for all occasions. The staff is a family which gives you the homely feel. Highly recommended.

Its a decent place for a get together or a party. Ive seen weddings and Christmas Parties along with other events that are similar. Food is very good also. Not sure much about the hotel part of the place, but the place is great for a wedding reception or an office party...
