Okay, Im constantly going to this area to spend time with the love of my life. Ive tried the "reviewed places" and was disappointed in so many ways.... I travel from Queens so anything is available in a 25 minutes in any direction, but the Fort Lee area is tricky. After trying the mediocre Korean BBQ and the questionable Sushi places, I realized Ive set my standards too high. On a whim, me and "TLOML" decided to meet here.... Expensive or not, we were greeted kindly and warmly on a Saturday night and that in itself is rare anywhere these days. They were able to accommodate us, we didnt care where, we have each other. I ordered the Omikasa and it was great! I decided to have endless Toro and Uni as well, "TLOML" wouldnt leave any for me until she was full thank God, I ordered more. It was brought with a smile, again a rarity in that neck of the woods, no offense to the locals that accept it, but dont you guys deserve more. I found it here! The quality of food and service is something they take pride in, not take for granted like so many others in the neighborhood. Its cozy, small, never ignored, youre appreciated and people talk to each other. A diamond in Fort Lee. The whole byob thing is fairly new to me, who cares, pay retail for some exotic beer, a nice bottle of Bordeaux and the savings alone is worth it. Oddly enough, what made me apprehensive about writing this review is that now theyll be packed, but Id still wait as this is my sashimi place to go in Fort Lee, period. I would sit anywhere with Batilda, but I would return to few. Its the company that matters, but its the quality, service and overall feel that brings you back.

I dont even want to write how good the sushi is here because I am happy to keep this place to myself. Yama is amazing. Alex who serves with a smile is awesome! I go out alot in NYC and I never eat Sushi in the City anymore... Yamagata is BYOB which is awesome and the sushi is so fresh and different. Toro, yellow tail toro, Uni, Ikura fabulous in every single way. I personally can not eat at other places anymore it is a little pricey but hey --- Ill take the best when it comes to raw fish !!!

Super expensive for small portions. Salmon handroll at $7.50 was ridiculouos-two tiny slices of stale fish and some warm sushi rice. $28 Chirashi made mostly of rice with a little bit of fish sprinked on top. It seems that all the positive reviews were written by the restaurant employees, there is no way this disaster if a place could be called "best sushi in NJ". One of the worst sushi restaurants I have been to in the last 30 years! AVOID THIS RIP-OFF PLACE.

New owners and the food is horrible. Ordered the tonkatsu for lunch which cost 15 it was all fat they would not change it for me and still charged me because i ate 1/4 of it. Also ordered the soba besides it coming out late it did not come out w anything just noodles and the dipping sauce. There is a new soba restaurant on main st for $11 you can get 3 portions of soba and you can choose a meat.

Excellent!! Probably the best sushi place in NJ. Very good sushi bar experience with Chef Nagai San. O-toro, Hamachi Toro, Unagi, Uni, Miugai, Bota Ebi (miso soup with Ebi head), Aji, Kanpachi, Hamachi Kama, Kani Croquette, Inaniwa Udon (Al Dante). Little pricy for BYOB, but best sushi quality in NJ area heads down.

Can be very busy for dinner, recommend res, food very good and service eager but rushed by the usual crowd. Sushi excellent as remainder of choices quite good. Big advantage: Bring you own bottle.

Great food, a bit pricey. The place also has decent seating but it gets busy. Be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes during lunch hour.
