Boo - Sept, 4, 2011 -We had reservations for 3 tables for 22 people (5 under the age of 6) for Saturday of Labor Day weekend. We met in the beautiful garden at 1:30 while the kids ran/explored after their long rides from upstate NY and Mass. Our last guests were caught in traffic and arrived at 2:15. Since the setup is communal seating we had to wait until our entire group was assembled. No one hurried us. The manager had asked me for seating arrangements and which kids needed booster seats. Once we were seated our orders were taken, 3 chefs arrived and did their thing making snowmen out of rice, having guests catch broccoli in their mouth, etc. The kids loved it and the smiles of parents and grandparents echoed their delight. Most of the adults are professionals with restaurant eating experience across the US and elsewhere. Uniformly they praised the quality and quanitiy of food. Your food cant be fresher than having it cooked in front of you. I brought 3 Carvel cakes, one for each table, since I wanted names on the cakes and they dont write the names. However, they supplied candles and song and served the cake at no additional charge. We were there until a little after 4. When the bill arrived I asked if it was correct. They said it was and I said I was paying for 3 tables. They said it was correct. Now, admittedly we chose not to order alcoholic drinks and it was the lunch menu, but $300 before tax and tip was certainly a great value for the great food and service. I was happy to leave a geneous tip. We couldnt have had a better afternoon.

Hida had a Grand opening on Monday August 12, 2013. I feel that some of these previous posts were from the Original Gasho of Japan which was closed for about, or at least a year. Returning to New York from a wonderful cruise on Carnival, we were delighted to find the restaurant open and decided to try their Hibachi lunch. Entering the restaurant, the bright entry is shared with a huge, Buddha type statue. The carpeted floors have been replaced with a light colored, textured and speckled epoxy type flooring. The place is spotless. We were greeted by a wonderful host, Scott. He gave us a quick tour of the garden which was beautifully maintained. He was nice enough to take a picture of us on the bridge, hovering over a pond filled with many types of colorful fish. Sitting down, the one thing I loved was that everything was clean. My son and wife had sushi as an appetizer and give it 5 stars. The Lunch portions were plentiful, the prices compatible. The Hibachi (steak and chicken for me) was 5 stars! The soup, tasty, complemented with thinly sliced mushrooms, scallions and tempura style onions. The salad, crunchy and crisp. The "house" dressing delicious, better than some others Ive had at Hibachi places. The noodles and fried rice were wonderful to say the least. The steak was tender, the chicken juicy, cooked perfectly (not dried out). The veggies were also fresh and tasty. This would be a great place to bring friends and family, I promise, you will enjoy it!!!!

Pass on the Hibachi and go for the dining room/sushi/entries. Ill agree that Gasho was past its expiration date, but the new Hida is fantastic! Dont be fooled by the simple looking menu and reasonable prices for the sushi and kitchen entrees, these are artfully prepared. Get a table back by the bar overlooking the gardens for a true experience! Even in winter they are a treasure. The main dining hall is for hibachi, which can be fun, but lets be honest that there is no such thing as a quality hibachi meal anywhere. The real star here is the reasonably priced sushi and main entrees. (And the well aged gardens and beautiful building) It would be a crime if this landmark property went under and was replaced with a strip mall or something.

This hibachi and sushi restaurant used to be a favorite. When working in the area I would visit at least once a week for either lunch or dinner. Not being in the area for a few years, I saw that the health ratings were fine and that the reviews werent too bad so I gave it a go with the family. Dinner unfortunately was a mess. We began with missed order items, a badly distracted hibachi chef, a waitress who either didnt understand English or was just sending the orders in wrong and finally a spoiled dessert was brought to the table. And just when you think it couldnt get any worse, the check came to the table with all the missed items. My love affair with this place is over. I have never been so disappointed.

And I thought Gashos was bad. This place is a more-expensive version of a low-quality Hibachi-style restaurant. This establishment does not give you rice with your order and it replaces bean sprouts with noodles. In addition, every hibachi-style entree is served with copious amounts of Teriyaki sauce - the sign of low-quality chefs. The presentation was boring as well. I suggest going to Nodas in White Plains instead.

Food and service were excellent. This restaurant has changed names a few different times and this review is for its most recent iteration Tani (Haru). My original entree choice was not available which is odd being it was the grand opening but the Beef NegiMaki was delicious. I also enjoyed my girlfriends BulGoGi Dinner Box. Food, atmosphere, staff, and location are all incredible.

At 9:20 pm, already inside, we were told it was already closed... but their closing time is 10pm! There were people starting to eat... just receiving their dishes. A waiter, or manager (Paul, he said) talked to us, didnt explain why they would not take order 40 min before closing time! Not even a simple soup! Very disappointing.

Went there tonight with my son, celebrated a birthday and could not have had a better experience. The place is beautiful, the food was so fresh and delicious, and we were greeted by Diana, a wonderful host who made us feel right at home. We will definitely be going back. Thanks to all at Hida for a wonderful night!

I hosted an event there on the hottest day of the year and the air conditioning broke. To top it off they had all the menus wrong and didnt have enough chefs for all the tables so they had to be going back and forth. Great restaurant for a night out but pick somewhere more prepared for your event!

Been coming here since 2014. Lately, they chsnged ownership. Its called TANI now. Did not do the hibachi, just sushi... they improved a lot. Worth coming back. Low point... ice cream selection. Lets hope they keep the current food stsndards and improve the decor a bit, looks like an old diner.

Went for a business lunch. Great place to entertain business clients. The food was very good, however more important was the ambiance. The cooks put on a great show, juggling the knives and other cutlery. The steak was excellent, so if you are not into sushi there is still plenty for you.

Loved the way the cook prepares the food; the interaction with the clients, the attention from the hostess, waiters and else. Is just the Long Island Iced Tea is way over rated and way too expensive for what you get. Other than that, I loved it and enjoyed it.
