You want to know what makes great food? Its when you eat it you feel like youre home no matter what culture youre from. Im Filipino and my mind always travels back to the old country every time I have Hiura-Sans food. List of Must Haves: - Any of the sushi, yellowtail is my fave. - Kimpira Gobo - Burdock - Korokke - Croquette - Menchikatsu - Deep-Fried Hamburger - Ten Zaru - Cold Soba and Shrimp (also my fave) - Gyoza - Dumplings - If you like broiled fish, Sanma and/or Shisamo - Their ginger dressing - Agedashi Tofu - Lightly breaded tofu in soy sauce - Horenso Gomae - Spinach in milled sesame seeds Thats all I can remember having and loving, although Im sure I had more. Bring money, it can get expensive but its so worth it. I been around looking for good Japanese places and this place is the best. Oh yea, bring some change because theres valet parking at night (I dont know why since the parking lot is so small). Anyway, try it and you wont regret it!

The food at this restaurant is excellent, but the service is so incredibly poor, I will never eat there again. I was there for a full 45 minutes before getting any water, tea, etc. Many people who came in after I did got served well before I did. My lunch finally arrived at 12:50, leaving me 5 minutes to inhale it before going back to work. (I suspect it would have taken even longer had I not gone and complained.) Their chefs do an excellent job, and should be commended. However its impossible to appreciate their work properly when the service is this poor.

Cant believe we found this authentic real Japanese restaurant on the way out of NY. Its amazing! They serve traditional Japanese food. Its like being in Japan. We tried the lunch boxes. I had mackerel and Hubby had salmon. Very fresh and delicious and prepared the way the Iron Chef would make for us. We also tried the sushi deluxe. Excellent! Worth a visit even though finding a parking space was very challenging. Definitely would go back.

Authentic Japanese food here, great sushi and nigiri rolls, gyoza is amazing, large variety of Izakaya like appetizers, like sake shioyaki, shrimp tempura, tsukune, zaru soba, nabeyaki udon. Japanese sushi chefs behind the counter. Probably the best sushi youll get in the Pal Park area.

Sushi is fresh and very well prepared. Staff is friendly, location is cramped and seating is limited so plan to come early. Parking is around the corner out back. The food is pretty close to authentic as you can get in the United States, with some changes to ingredients as necessary.

In NJ with Hiura being one of the old loved establishments in Bergen county. Specially made freezer for colder temperatures to preserve certain fish flavors better. Ask for his uni tempura and do omakase. He is a traditionalist and when you do it right you cant complain.

Came here for my birthday with friends. The korean bbq is absolutely delicious. I was craving it for a while and this definitely hit the spot. Service was very friendly and we had no troubles ordering and receiving our food. Would definitely go back for some more.

I liked Nabeyaki Udon and sushi rolls but it is overpriced considering small portion. We liked quite traditional ambience but old mediocre background music.

A tad bit overpriced, but the sushi quality is definitely worth it. Tightly squeezed and small but cozy.
