Amazing atmosphere, and service. The food speaks for itself, (sushi is always very fresh). A few of the most popular items would be the Bluefin toro sashimi, the live Santa Barbara Uni, and delicious kobe beef sliders. All the ingredients used in the kitchen foods are very good quality and always fresh. The staff and hostess are very friendly and really makes the restaurant a great place to spend an evening with friends or family. There is a great bar selection offering various different spirits, and sake (hot or cold). Matsuya is definitely 5 stars in my book.

Been here a couple of times. Obanzai are the star here, and I would recommend focusing your attention on those. On our last visit, the Somen was excellent, and a great deal at $5. Their house made tofu is also quite nice, cold version is great for the summer. Tonkatsu is a bit overcooked every time we had it, as a result, its crunchy but slightly dry. (Ootoya is a better bet for Tonkatsu.) Kaisen don is of good value. Sushi is really not their strong suit though. Overall, a good place for dinner in the neighbourhood.

Very bad dinner experience. Main dish took over 40 minutes to arrive, and they brought out the wrong dish after all the wait. And the rice was old and dried from sitting in the rice warmer too long. The manager should keep in mind of the customers and overall operation of the restaurant rather than just focusing on the delivery orders, which kept him and the kitchen frantic. He didnt pay any attention to how the FOH was being run with one waitress who was clearly inexperienced.

Such a lovely place. Food is always excellent, with a fantastic assortment of familiar and unusual dishes, both small plates and large. Very kid friendly, providing a changing table, high chairs and kid chopsticks. Its also beautiful inside, with small details like a monogrammed glass for fresh tofu. Perfect for a date as well as a family dinner. No reservations but Ive never had to wait for a table. Eat here before the word gets out.

What a great lunch special! The food tasted great for a fantastic price, and I especially loved the broiled cod that was their fish of the day. The service was fine - not overly friendly, but not unfriendly either. I really liked the soothing and calm ambience of this restaurant, especially the communal table in the middle. Dinner seems a little pricey, but I would definitely come back again and again for lunch.

A very warm and welcoming eating environment, that feels home style but nuanced. Everything I ate was incredibly tasty, from the specials all the way through the dessert course. It was an easy, comfortable, and quiet dining experience. The only downside was a small piece of bone I found in my chicken pieces. Ill be back.

Their Chicken Teriyaki is one of the best plates of food Ive ever had. All reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Warm and inviting space. Interesting iPod. Good sakes and wines. A few more beers on the beer list would do them well, but this place is A FIND!

I LOVE Hibino. Their daily obanzai (tapas) is great as well as their regular items on the menu. My favorite is Chicken Teriyaki, it comes on a bed of assortment of vegetables. Their agedashi tofu is excellent as well. Its my neighborhood go to!

Incredible sushi! Fell into this place and it was meant to be. Beautiful decor, insanely good sushi, great sake selection. The uni, eel, oyster roll, everything was fantastic. Highly recommend. Good price for the quality

Small Fancy little restaurant. Not a big place - they have daily specials small dishes. The sake selection is not that great but they do have good quality sake. The price is just right and the food is very well prepared.

A simple small restaurant with an ambiance that reminded me of Tokyo. Hot food is excellent. I particularly like the obanzai. However the sushi is probably just average. A nice location for meet ups.
