Not at all great food for the price. At $16 a thali in the middle of new Gujarat (New Jersey) they should have the best of food. Food is anything but even average. The ambience, the service and the speed of preparing food are all below below par. You cannot find a filthier restroom anywhere else. Thinking of calling the Edison health officials into their establishment...it is that bad from old paint boxes to tens of mops and disinfectant boxes from several years all stored in the restroom and all over the place. Cannot even imagine how bad the kitchen would be. Appears to be a like a family operation rather than a proper business with a lot of greed to just rip people of their money and give a very poor experience. Avoid at all costs. And I urge other gujratis to start something else in the area and take these guys out of business as soon as possible. And the other positive reviews on this site seem staged to me.

WORST RESTAURANT I have seen in this area. The food was TASTELESS, MANY ITEMS STALE and SERVICE IS PATHETIC - NO TABLE SERVING MANNERS AND CLEANLINESS IS ABSENT. THIS MUCH MONEY WOULD BUY PREMIUM SERVICE AT ANOTHER PLACE. ON TOP OF IT ALL THEY CHARGE 15% EXTRA FOR ANY GROUP OF 6 OR MORE. Thats certainly NOT WORTH THE MONEY for those dishes. They even charged a $2 per bowl that had not even 5 spoons of rice - for 4 yr old kid who we had to feed quick as they required 20-25 minutes to serve the main dishes. The most shocking was the 15% SERVICE CHARGE WE WERE 7 ADULTS WHO GAVE THEM BUSINESS. I have never heard of anybody charging service fee for getting them more business :(. ANYBODY PLANNING TO GO TO THIS PLACE SHOULD RATHER GO TO A ROADSIDE FOOD JOINT INSTEAD - THEY WILL LEAVE WITH A BETTER TASTE IN MIND.. JUST AVOID THIS PLACE.

This place is horrible. Its like an Indian hut with crappy food. The lady in the restaurant will not serve you water but just keep the jar on your table as if you are her help. The service is slow and takes at least 45 mins before you see anything on your table (even when you are the only customer in this restaurant). The quality of food is sub standard. The water served taste weird, so please carry your own bottle, if you ever have no options but to eat at this place. The ambiance will make you feel sick as there are no air conditioners and has minimum illumination. Guess the restaurant is trying to cut all its expenses doing all this. Over all, I will NEVER recommend this place to even my enemy.

Family owned and they remember you when you go again. They had a special Punjabi veg made and they came to give it to us for free just so we can taste it. Granted its not the most kept place when it comes to the restroom, but it is not horrific as some people make it seem. All the negative reviews here seem staged to me. My friend even asked about the hours on google that keep saying they are closed Fridays and Mondays, and they told us how they keep fixing them but someone keeps changing them since google allows anyone to edit.

Worst Guajarati Thali ever. I took my dad on his birthday for a nice dinner. The service sucks. There is only one waiter/cook. The food is not even tasty. I had to wait like 30 minutes just to get the appetizer with 2 other customers being there. Pros: The decoration is really nice. Cons. Everything else sucks. The food, service, not even clean. SERVICE with ATTITUDE. its like they dont want you to be there. Very expensive. They charged me $7.99 for more onions and green chilies!!! I do NOT recommend this place.

Dont make a mistake to visit this restaurant. if u visit it first time then note that restaurant entrance doors are very hard to open. They will charge $16 for platter. If you ask any thing more they will charge you extra even for small quantity. They gave me small bowl of Kadhi and for second small kadhi owner charged me $1.99. To be honest I had great expectations from this place and it was such a let down. I normally would go to dimple`s Bombay talk however as fate would have it... I wanted to try something new. And it was regrettable mistake. Everything I mean every single thing as sweet ..... Curry ,dal raita ... All I can could savoir is sweetness... Never ever going back. And chole bathura is not a big poori its a different dish. Enuff said.

I have literally eaten at every single Indian restaurant on Oak Tree Road, I have to admit this is by far the closest home cooked food you would ever get. I ordered the Jhupdi Thali (combination of Gujarat and Rajasthan style mixed). The sev tamatar was simply delicious. The khadi, dal and bajra roti was just outstanding. I have a craving atleast once a month to try this place. Simply loved it. Highly recommended.

Weve been doing takeout from them for several years. The food has always been consistently good. Since we usually order the same food, the owner knows my voice and knows what we want. In fact when we were away for several months he remembered me and wondered where we had been for so long. Nice guy. As for the decor, it is indeed a simple place, but I like the food and the prices are very reasonable

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I will never go here again even if some one pays me 1000 bucks. The chutney was outdated and Thalis are so over priced and all the subjis taste HORRIBLE. I had stomach ache later that night. The lady who served us is very mean. Quantity and Quality sucks. trust me there are other better place to eat some healthy and nice quality food.

Looked colorful until I saw the filthy restroom. I should have got forewarned. I was shocked at the poor hygiene that followed (small dead roach was sitting on a puri in my lunch). The waitress insisted it was not an insect but a leaf. This place reflects poorly on Indian mannerisms. I will never go back here.

Worst restaurant ever. There was hair in my food, the manager was constantly bickering with the staff. It was not a healthy environment to eat. Plus for the amount they charge for each plate, the quality and quantity of the food was horrible. A very bad experience, and do no recommend it to anyone.

Like the thali here. A lil more than average price in oak tree. I like Gujarati dishes and this tastes like home food. Love the dhoklas. And the interior is different. If the rates were competitive I would have probably given 4/5. Once in 6 months kind of a restaurant

I get attracted to this place by looking at its view but to be honest food is not so good as expected. Rotla are so thinner that I got confused are these chapatis. Even food was not fresh. Will not recommend this place. Visited one time and ll not visit for sure.

Avoid at all costs... No serving manners, unclean waiters, shitty ambience, bad bad bad food. If you are trying Gujarati food for the 1st time at this place you will not eat Gujarati food again in your lifetime. Shame to great Gujarat cuisine...
