Came here on a Thursday evening around 8pm. Got a seat for 2 easily, although parking lot was full, metered street parking was plentiful (0.25 for one hour!). Service was great and attentive, I ordered the Miso ramen (comes with the wavy noodles), my husband had the tonkatsu gyokai (comes with the thinner straight noodles). We both had the large, which was more than enough. At all the popular NYC ramen joints, my husband always gets kaedama. The large at Blackbeard is equivalent to getting kaedama. The chasu is soft and flavorful, reminded us of the pork we had in Japan. The Miso broth was well balanced and not too rich. I thought my husbands brother was a bit too heavy on the fish flavor, but Im not a fan of fish broth blends for ramen. Overall, really liked this place and will definitely be back.

Pros: Chewy noodles (Id recommend ordering them extra firm, especially for the thick wavy miso ramen noodles) Mm Chashu! Thin slices and just the right amount of fat Decent portion size BYOB Cons: A little on the pricey side in comparison to other similarly good ramen Ive had. The broth, while rich, is sort of one dimensional EARLY close time! 9pm?! AND closed on Mondays! Cash only Just slightly better than some other places Ive been to on my recent ramen journey. But it is certainly good. Well be back but the hours dont make it easy. Also! Whats with the disposable chopsticks??? I feel like a ramen spot with table service should have chopsticks that I dont have to break apart to use...

Support your local ramen scene! Blackbeard ramen is an earnest, standalone ramen joint with some pretty impressive noodles, they are particularly proud of their Green Curry Ramen, a fairly unique flavor for ramen, outside of Bassanova ramen in Manhattan. The decor is influenced by the "Cool Japan" movement, with a number of small Anime/Manga related toys, as well as a TV that was showing Anime while I ate. (One Punch Man, if youre curious.) Right now theyre still in a soft-open phase, so their hours are slightly limited, as is their supply. So be sure to arrive early to make sure they can feed you. Ive really enjoyed what Ive had so far after 3 visits.

Loved this place, for what else, ramen. Didnt have a reservation so the wait wasnt too long. Seating is tight with other guests hovering over you. I had the classic ramen and my boyfriend had the fish one, both with a soft boiled egg on top. Ordered a small portion because i wasnt ready for that monstrous large portion. Anyhoo, swing on by for some good ol fashioned ramen!

Blackbeard Ramen is my go to ramen place. The space is small, and the food comes out very quickly. The fish dashi broth is amazing, its full of flavor and you can customize it to be lower sodium. You can also easily customize your bowl to suit your preferences. Parking is pretty easy to find either on the street or in the parking lot to the side of the restaurant.

Great execution on several varieties of ramen: Tonkotsu (pork bone broth), Tonkotsu w/ fish broth, Miso, and Curry. Each version has a variety of toppings and you can order them with either the thin or thick ramen noodle. During their soft-opening phase, the egg was over-marinated and too salty. This has been remedied since and the egg is now one of the best around!

While Im no expert on Ramen, I know good food. And this place is just as good if not better than the expensive ramen shops in NYC. Green curry and Tonkatsu are my favorites but the wife loves Miso. Kids love the cha-don and the gyoza, which is made fresh in house everyday. Great new spot in cliffside park and a new favorite. Staff is friendly too.

I stop by Blackbeard Ramen fairly often. The Green Curry Ramen is consistently delicious. The quality of food there never disappoints. Although they do prepare food for take-out, I would recommend eating in, if possible. Also, the gyoza is perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to try truly delicious ramen.

Who would have thought that the best ramen outside of Japan could be found here in this hole-in-the-wall in NJ. They offer the usual flavors that westerners have come to expect, but my personal favorite is the Green Curry ramen, which cant be found anywhere outside of Japan. The broth is delicious and really hits the spot on a cold night.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant was quaint, airy and spacious. I really liked my green curry ramen. It had kick but not too much and all three ingredients were fresh and cooked perfectly (I especially loved the soft boiled egg). The tonkatsu was also delicious. Ill definitely be back again.

I have tried it all, Ive been in Montclair, Fort Lea, Edgewater, Ramsey, and Newark. This place blows all of them out of the water the broth really has some body to it. The quality of the pork is amazing the fat literally melts in your mouth. I recommend the red curry if you really like spicy.

Simple menu, delicious ramen. This is the place to go for legit ramen and not the trendy stuff. The broth had a deep Smoky flavor and everything was presented very nicely. I do wish they had some alcohol on offer, sake or beer would have been really nice.

My favorite place for ramen. Theyre always trying new things. Tom Yum ramen and green curry are amazing. If you love ultra spicy, then try the red curry. Perfect egg and pork belly. They even make a vegetarian miso ramen for my daughter.

I ordered a spicy miso ramen: the soup/broth is very smooth in taste, and it comes loaded with all of my favorites. Flavor of yhe chashu varies day-to-day, sometimes its average, and sometimes it tastes amazing.

Cozy Japanese style ramen place. I think the owners are Japanese, might explain why it tastes better than most places in the city. Get the tonkotsu gyokai, its more than worth the extra dollar.

I had the tonkotsu gyokai and it totally blew my mind. Ive had a lot of ramen throughout Philly, DC, Richmond, and NYC and I think this one was the best Ive ever had. Highly recommended!

New hidden ramen shop in NJ. Ramen is expertly balanced and full of flavor rivaling the big shops in NY. Was definitely worth the trip from NY for their green curry ramen.
