3/21/14: This is my first time having the opportunity to try quality ramen, so i opted to get a medium sized bowl of Miso. Trying to convey what it was like tasting it for the first time is hard because I am just starting out but it was excellent. The noddles are not too soft, the broth is hearty, and the give you a good amount of pork as well. I couldnt have finished it quicker, it being so delicious. The service is quick also even with a modest line to order. Cant wait to go back to try other the other types. 8/18/14: Second visit to Santouka and this time I wanted something different from Miso, so I ordered a medium Shio. Same great quality of the Miso, especially the noodles, but being reminded what Shio tasted like was a welcomed experience. Though, this being the first time having a real bowl, I was a little curious as to what this red ball pictured sitting in the middle and on top of the bowl was exactly. Turns out I found something in Japanese cuisine that I have yet to warm up to. I dont know what it is, possibly a spice ball, but it was bitter and very hard so I was a little put off. But it did not detract from the tasted of the ramen, in fact there was nothing that leaked into the broth which was great.

Oh, my.... The best ramen I have ever had. The shio (salt) style broth with the melty pork. The creamy but fluid broth explodes with pork and spice flavors, that you can tell this was slow brewed for a long time. The marrow comes through in a melody with the salt and spices. Conjoined with the noodles is a perfect harmony. Now...the pork strips....OMG to die for. They literally Melt in your Mouth!! Hence the perfect name. Then the rest of the toppings(bamboo shoots, pickled uma, cloud ear mushrooms, scallions, and of course a Naruto) simply blend into the background without interfering with the bold broth. Well worth the Lyft ride here and back. Yes, would do again!! I thank Andrew Fiel for the recommendation!!!

Management is dysfunctional and has no shame. They seem to be, I quote, "short of staff" recently and randomly announce that their register was closed with six more people whove been waiting in line for 15+ minutes still waiting to order. I along with five others were turned away with no apology and was told by the petite but eyes-rolling rude manager that it was our fault that we came to the store late. Excuse me rude lady we joined the line before the stores closing time (8pm) if no one came to the line to mark the last person then you guys have the responsibility to finish serving everyone in line. Im never coming back again.

Located within Mitsuwa Marketplace, an awesome Japanese supermarket with its own food court, Santouka offered some amazing ramen. I had the melted pork with miso ramen soup. The melted pork was so properly named, I cannot say enough about it. It literally melted into my mouth and melded with the flavors of the ramen. The ramen was nice and chewy. To think I had never ordered from this vendor for lunch, it made me think of what else I was missing! My bowl of ramen was only $11, a fraction of NYC prices for the same bowl size. If youre in the food court of this already awesome marketplace, make sure to get your filling!

I met up with a girlfriend here due to my recent insatiable cravings for ramen (yes, even in the middle of summer!). Blackbeard Ramen was closed for several weeks, and this was the next closest option for us. I ordered the Melty Pork in the Spicy Miso broth, with a marinated egg. I thought this place was very mediocre. Broth was too salty and oily. Egg wasnt the semi boiled with a soft center that Im used to. Rather, it was pretty well done. The pork was very tender and tasty. Noodles were ok. I dont think Id return here solely for the ramen, but the food court and marketplace in general was a fun cultural experience.

Inside of a marketplace, with a delicious menu. This was a surprisingly satisfying ramen place. The cashiers were very knowledgeable and helpful, they explained the variety and differences of all their menu items. Excellent ramen, with mouth watering pork belly. Definitely will visit again in the future. They had very fast service and the quantity and quality was grade A. Give them a try!

This is in my opinion the best place to buy ramen. Their ramen is made in traditional Japanese style and taste extraordinarily tasty. I have recommended this spot to countless other friends and they agree that its a top notch ramen restaurant. I would recommend the Miso Ramen for first timers since its their most basic type of ramen but personally its my favorite.

This is one of the best ramen stores on the east coast. Ive tried ramen at several of the "best" New York locations and I would easily make the trip to New Jersey just to have ramen at santouka. The Pork melts in your mouth, and the flavor of the broth is amazing.

My friends brought me there yesterday and the food is great. There is always a line up to order food, but if you go there between 2 - 5 pm on the weekend, the line is much shorter and you can find a table to sit down and enjoy the excellent noodles.

Some of the best Ramen in the tri-state area. They used to bring in the Ramen champion from japan one weekend a year. That was absolutely bonkers! However, I finally found Ramen as good as japan somewhere else.

The best Ramen Ive had in the states aside from the ramen Ive had in the home. The pork is just to die for tho... something we havent been able to replicate, or seen replicated else where in the states.

I ordered the Shoyu ramen. It was delicious. The broth was a tiny bit too rich, but very good. And the pork in it was so good.

Favorite place in NJ... love the thicker curly noodles that they use (vs the straight think tonkotsu style noodles).

Pork is super good. 3 choices of soup bases to satisfy your palate. Choose soy is you dont want to be too salty.
