This pizza shop services a rural area sorely lacking enough diversity to support the "lingo" in the collection of poor reviews it has been given, by many youthful users as well. As a true customer of Hickory Tree Pizza I can tell you it is the best pizza this side of Chatham/Madison. They may not have every known topping, but that is because they deliver solid pizza at a good price and do not try to be everything to everyone. Their Daily Special (available every day) is two slices and a fountain soda for $4.25 (hardly expensive.) It seems there is always one or two people at the counter eating a Daily Special when I am there. I prefer my pizza fresh from the oven, but they always have some "house pizza" available, or just coming out. I have not had everything from their menu ( a lot of pizza ! ) but my favorite item has been their Calzones. As for the managers (plural as in two brothers) they are hometown, practical and solid. I say this as someone who has called them up and asked if they could deliver food to my kid at a soccer field promising to come in later that night and pay. They assured me, someone they really did not know and could not remember, anytime in the next day or so. When I did pay, they assured me they would do it again if I needed it. Later, when I shared my story with other parents some thought it was cool and others said they had a similar experience. I still felt fortunate but less unique in my luck. As for cleanliness, I too am sensitive to cleanliness. The place is not fancy but I can share that their bathrooms are small and basic but I have never experienced them being dirty smelly or gross, the floor is clean, the cooking area is clean, I have seen them clean the glass every time I am there just before closing. The individuals do not dress up but they have never appeared dirty or I would not eat their food. Hope some folks find this helpful and hopefully the pizza shop I most often frequent for the last four years is not unfairly judged by what can only be fictitious reviews.

The men making pizzas get very annoyed with the customers when it is busy and lack compassionate aspects. They were very rude to me as I was ordering today and he ignored me and yelled in my face to talk to one of the teenage girls. I did, and the girls were sweet, yet they could not answer all of my questions about the food. As I asked what was on the tuna salad, the girl asked the man making pizzas and he rolled his eyes. I feel bad for the employees there and I hope the young men making pizzas become more compassionate and respectful towards their customers and employees and realize that it will quickly have a positive affect on the management of their business.

It is a crime that this place has under a 4-star rating. I have lived in the area for nearly 24 years and this is quite simply the best pizza place in the area. Whenever Im in the mood for pizza, I go here. I have never seen the place being dirty, the staff/owner being inconsiderate, or experienced a bad slice from here. To read that in prior reviews is pure malarkey. If anything, take those untruthful reviews as another reason to give this place a shot. Im sure a resounding majority of you will be glad you did.

Really good NY style pizza. The yummy thin crust kind. I have to agree with the other posters that objected to the ranking here. Some of these low scores must have been payed for by a competitor or something. Or maybe they come from college kids from the mid-west, where pizza is thick and clearly inferior. I dont know about any incidences of rudeness. But Ill tell you this. They make a truly excellent pie.

Dont know how this has bad reviews, every time I visit home this is hands down the only place I will go to for a slice of pizza. The service is great and its always delicious. Its byob and one time I was trying a new beer that was terrible and he owner came by and gave me a free one that was left by a different customer cause he saw how much I was displeased with the one I brought. Great guy!

The Buffalo chicken pizza is the best Ive ever eaten anywhere. That review curve is non-legit, someone had a bad experience for some reason and is A ) posting reviews via fake accounts B ) getting their friends to post. If you had a bad time for a legit reason, try at least writing complete sentences.

The pizza here was good, not great but there was a tension in the restaurant as the pizza makers were angry. The girls at the front were very friendly but kept getting yelled at or talked at in a rough way. Attitudes need to change. I would not go back, it was uncomfortable.

Very slow service at a time of day when business was slow. Ordered a sandwich and a entre to eat in and it took 30 minutes to get our food. Sandwich had no flavor, the entre was mediocre at best and served with a warm salad. You can do much better elsewhere.
