The cost of the food is normal for this type of restaurant, middle and upper, class of people. It gets VERY loud during a full house and bring a sweater, the AC was pumping. I would not recommend this place, with the Stone House Grill and Water and Wine so close in location and prices. My husband and I ate at the WH, 3 times now, The first time with friends went well, although the rib eye special was painfully thin, and the wait staff were young and seemed a bit nervous. The 2nd time, we ate in the bar area , there was one other couple, and 2 people at the bar. The waitress forgot our calamari appetizer. We saw the manager by the bar, but he was too busy playing on his phone to notice we werent happy. 3rd time last night, I ordered a flat iron steak. The steak was 4"x1 1/2" no sauce of any kind , served with too dry watercress. My husbands scallops ( not the big sea scallops either) were served over mashed potatoes (weird combo) and some kind of dry salad greens over the whole dish. The food is just not anything special. If i did not have a gift card from this place to use, and did not live in town, I would not return.

The food was edible and it didnt kill me, which is pretty much all it had going for it. Though the decor was nice, the restaurant was extremely busy and noisy. The food took around an hour and a half to arrive. The rib eye steak that I got was bland and although properly medium rare (when I ordered it medium) was charred far beyond what it should have been. Additionally it had a sauce to which I am allergic, after they assured me that I would be able to eat the food. The vegetables tasted as if they were frozen vegetables straight out of the supermarket. For the price, there are undoubtedly better alternatives. I will not be going back again.

Washington House had the most amazing food from appetizers to desserts. If you are looking for a great place to dine I would highly recommend Washington House, not only was the food delectable but the atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. After my first experience there I can guarantee I will definitely come again. There were so many different choices on the menu and everything looked so delicious I had trouble deciding what to get. I cant wait to go there again and try something else that I was considering getting.

I am writing this to help out this local business since I saw a few bad reviews. We have eaten here at least 10 times since they opened, and we have reviewed them on Open Table as well as others. All in all, I think the food is very good and fresh. Most of the bad reviews had to do with price and some other minor details. If you want good food in a nice atmosphere, be prepared to pay for it folks. I do not think it is overpriced for what you are getting. We are going tonight again.

My 3 friends and I went to the Washington House on April 8th .We were never there before and went purposely to hear Sweet And Sassy.These 2 woman are Amazing.Love the variety of songs and no matter how noisy it got (since it is a bar) they continued to sing and smile and entertain.The food was amazing from the fish and chips to Scallops to the Dessert .We would love to come back to see Crista and Kari

The restaurant and bar are so pretty and the staff is so nice that it immediately was a great experience. Add to that the delicious drinks and nice wine selection. The food is different and amazing. The short ribs were to die for and the grits and mustard greens were perfect with it. The scallops and sugar peas were also amazing. And the burger and fries are addictive. I will totally be going back.

Love, love, love this place. I come here almost every week with my coworkers for lunch and am never disappointed. Then I decided to go in last night for dinner and got the beef tenderloin-- amazing choice. The meat was cooked exactly how I like and the sides complimented it so well. Service was quick and friendly too. Definitely bringing my family here for dinner soon!

I live in town and it will be my first and last time there.Overpriced food and drinks. Calamari appetizer was good, but wedge salad was pitifully small. When I asked for more salad dressing I was brought a watered down italian instead of blue cheese and the waitress at the bar was annoyed by my request. Very disappointing.

As a local to Basking Ridge Im not impressed with the service or the food. Attracts mostly a younger executive crowd to the bar. I did not enjoy the atmosphere. Having been all around the area there are much better options with better service and food for the price.

Went for lunch and had the 5 star burger while sitting at the bar. Bartender and host were extremely friendly. Burger was cooked to perfection and the toppings complimented each other nicely. Great beer selection as well. I will definitely be going back here.

Much smaller than you might expect. A younger crowd at the bar, and a decidedly older one in the dining room. The food was quite good, but pretty expensive. The service is excellent.
