Do you guys remember when there used to be the Village Seafood Buffet here in Rio? Yeah, well thats gone. They decided to integrate the "seafood" buffet into Carnival World. I mean, dont get me wrong...the regular Buffet itself is quite good for its price. You get a huge selection from all over the World. They can even whip you up different styles of Noodle dishes like Pho, Udon or Ramen. I havent tried any of them because I came here for one thing and one thing only...Seafood. This place would get a 4 star, however I ended up giving only 2. Why? Well, the big reason has to do with the fact that the Seafood section is all hype. The quality is NOTHING like it used to be when Village Buffet existed here. Remember they used to have EVERYTHING Seafood? Yeah, they only have like 15 different seafood items now. They dont even have GUMBO!!!! Totally not worth the 60 bucks. I thought it was kind of funny how they were implementing this whole "upgrade" idea. Basically they give you a luminescent stamp. Theres a staff member who guards the seafood section and seems like he or she will do harm if you try to force your way in. It kind of reminded me of those future dystonia films where only the privileged got to enter. Luckily, I was that privileged person. Im not going to lie...the Lobster tail was very disappointing. It barely had any flavor. If you know anything about seafood, youd know if you cook it right you can taste the sweetness in the meat. However, it was bland. Heres are the downside of this integration... -Quality gone out the window! -Lobster tail is smaller than before -No more Lobster claws -No Gumbo -No good sushi -Crawfish is really tiny Well, apart from that here are the good: -Huge selection of REGULAR Buffet -A lot of soda dispensers! -Nice selection of Desserts FORGET THAT DAMN KISS STORE...BRING BACK THE VILLAGE SEAFOOD BUFFET!!!!! Never again would I opt to get a seafood upgrade...there are better places to get your seafood grub on...it is Vegas after all!

This was such a disappointment. My husband and I paid extra for the Seafood Buffet add-on. Our total bill was just over $100 which included the beverages. We have never paid that much for a meal, but this was Las Vegas. We expected outstanding quality for that price. We started at the Seafood Buffet side, but there were items strange to me that were causing me to lose my appetite (such as the octopus), and the food just didnt look appetizing or fresh. All I had on my plate when I left was the shrimp. So I went to the regular buffet side and found the seafood items that I normally choose, such as the steamed shrimp and fried catfish. But the fried catfish had obviously been re-fried. It had a hard crust and was grainy on the inside. I couldnt eat ti. It was apparent that several food items at the buffet had be reheated and wasnt fresh. We got much better, very fresh food at the Golden Corral where we stopped in out-state Missouri on the way home. Anyway, we were not told going in that there would also be seafood on the regular buffet. At least that would have saved us a lot of money. My husband didnt get much from the Seafood Buffet either. I would have given this two stars if it hadnt been for the price gouging/misleading advertisement/scam, etc. I was hoping to see a manager to point out some examples of old food, but I never saw one. Anyway, by the time I was ready to look for a manager, my husband just wanted to get out of there. By the way, the Golden Corral manager did greet us and asked if everything was okay. And if youre wondering, I dont personally know any of the people who work at any Golden Corral. I only mentioned it because of the stark contrast in food quality and price.

This place is actually a 4/5, but Im giving it a 5/5 because I dont understand why its rated just as a 2.5/5. Thats not an accurate rating at all. Hubby and I visited for breakfast yesterday and we were quite impressed! The variety was fantastic and everything was the right temperature and was prepared well. I particularly enjoyed the tater tots because I loaded them up with cheese sauce, shredded cheese, sour cream and thick slices of bacon. They also offer such sweet goodies as churros, waffles and French toast - of which French toast was my favorite due to its great texture. There was a cereal station. This can either be for those with simple tastes, or it can be for crazy people like me who enjoy taking French toast to the next level (French toast covered with the vanilla sauce meant for the bread pudding, fruit loops and mini M&Ms from the ice cream station). There are also some options that arent necessarily considered breakfast food, like their ribs. They were definitely not the most tender ribs Ive ever had, but the BBQ sauce was sweet and delicious! Dessert wise there was a nice little chocolate mousse I found. But I have to say that my favorite was the Elvis ice cream - a peanut butter banana ice cream with peanuts and swirls of (strawberry?) jelly. Since we also stayed at Rio that night they gave us a booklet of coupons, including $10 off this buffet. I cant wait to go back and try lunch or dinner!

Im dumbfounded how anyone could rate the Rio Buffet as decent...let alone good. Starting with the cost $47.54 for two at a lunch buffet is the most overpriced buffet in town based on what you get for your money. My wife and I have lived here in Vegas for 23 years, and remembered the Rio Buffet years ago as exceptional, so when visiting guests came to town, we took them to the lunch buffet. What a mistake that was. Food that was supposed to be served hot was luke warm, items that were missing from the serving line that ran out, and nobody was in a hurry to replace...roast beef so tough you couldnt even cut it let alone chew it. I hoped the deserts would make up for the poor food, but was wrong again. The Rio buffet was always known for their wionderful deserts...not so anymore. Just terrible pies with tasteless cardboard like crust, Jello, some poor sheet cakes...horrible! We and our guests couldnt get out of the casino soon enough. I would advise anyone planning a visit to Las Vegas to avoid the Rio...not only for the rip off prices, but read what others have to say about the Rio in general. Theres much better places on the Strip, and you wont be held as a captive at a dump too far from the Strip to walk, where you will regret having booked rooms there!

Took my family here tonight waited for over in hour in line just to be seated in a booth inendated with fruit flies ( my 4 year old daughter hates bugs and sceamed and cryed and wanted to leave). The girl I told after killing 4 of the bugs and more just kept coming said she would get her superviser. A man by the name of nathen came to our table and proceeded to tell us that they were aware of the problem and had a call in to fix but due to the proximity to the front door they couldnt do anything about it front door is about 100 feet from the booth. And Im pretty sure fruit flies dont come from the out side but from food not being cleaned up. He looked at us like we were stupid and when we said we would just leave he said in a condicending voice " what would you like me to do" at this point we got up and left he continued to tell us thanks for coming never once did this man apoligize for the problem or ask if my daughter was ok who was vissably upset. We will never return to this buffet and I will be contacting the dm on Monday to make him aware of this problem. We are locals and have never been treated like this. Awful awful customer service and sanitation.
