The food was only okay and the service was awful. After we put our order in my husband said he had a nut allergy and wanted to know if anything would be a problem. "I dont think so, but Ill let the chef know." This is important later. Our Darjeeling tea was a $3 bag of Twinings English Breakfast. The menu indicates that the Chicken Pakoras are served with mint chutney. Ours, however, were not. The plate was brought to the table and when the waiter left I made the assumption that he was leaving to get the chutney. He didnt return so we ate the food while it was still warm. When he did return to retrieve the empty plate I asked if its normally served with mint chutney. "Sometimes. Maybe. You have to ask for it. Do you want me to bring you some now?" I declined. We had also ordered the garlic naan as an appetizer. When the entree was brought out we asked for it and only then was it delivered. We shared the non-vegetarian Thali. The waiter set it down and left. I think if youre going to serve a plate with 8 different dishes it would be really helpful to state what each one is, rather than simply handing you 8 different foods and letting you figuring it out for yourself. As Im going through each one, trying to remember what the menu said and what each one looks like, I noticed that one of the dishes has almonds. I called the waiter over and asked what was in that dish. He said "rice, coconut, and almonds" to which I responded "coconut and WHAT." He reiterated "coconut and almonds... Oh. I think thats the only thing with nuts. Would you like me to remove it?" This is a big deal because when my husband eats nuts his throat closes up and he stops breathing. At no time did the manager come over to check on us, to talk about the situation, or offer to rectify it (like making a new dish that was actually nut-free). We paid full price for everything and do not plan on returning.

5.0 star rating 4/4/2017 Date of visit: 3/30/17. We were new to Omaha and were there to visit the zoo. We googled where we can get Indian food and voila we were at Himalayas. We went there with our two kids. We were greeted very well and waitress who was serving us had good knowledge of the items on the menu and was courteous to suggest us dishes that were popular in the no-Beef/Pork category. We ordered mulligatawny soup, naan bread, chicken tandoori and Tikka masala. The food was served fresh, the cuts of meat were fresh and flavorful too. Something that fell below spice level was tikka masala although it suited the kids. So when we expressed the same to the waitress Kate, Pem Dorjee the Chef had made a house specialty masala curry for us. It was out of this world the spice level, the fragrance of the curry itself was so appetizing. Overall the service was good. The staff especially the chef Pem were friendly and excellent. The food is great! We will stop over to Himalayas each time we go to Omaha.

The food alone is amazing, the lamb korma is my particular favorite. Even at the half size, the appetizer tray is very filling for two and gives a great variety. The drinks are a bit on the heavy pour side so good content for the money but abit strong. The location is fantastic if youre in the old market but for anyone who doesnt know parking on weekends is a chore. The wait staff was very polite and knowledgeable but due to it being a Friday night we did have abit of a wait on things and our waiter brought us the wrong appetizer to begin with. All in all a great experience! I would definitely recommend.

Spectacular and unique Indian food. The chef is Bhutanese so it has a flair unlike any other Indian food Ive found. Great vegetarian and dairy free entrees on a fat different level than most veggie meals. The Baingan Bharta (Eggplant Curry) is my favorite, loaded with fresh ginger and whole cinnamon. A beautiful array of spices is the norm. If you have a taste for the very hot, they can usually make special pakoras by request :-O If I were looking for mild food it might not be my first pick but Im sure they could accommodate.

We went to Himalayas while staying in Omaha. It was by far our favorite place that we ate at the entire time we were in town. We had the Hummus as an appetizer, Mulligatawny Soup, I had the Reshmi Kebab, and my boyfriend ordered the Tandoori Shrimp, but they gave him the chicken on accident. The meal was absolutely delicious. We both left full and with left overs. We had sat on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful night. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Old Market Area.

Staff was friendly, the Naan with the jalapeño yogurt dip was delicious. As far as the rest of the food I felt it was ok at best, Mother India in Omaha has much better food for a fraction of the price. I felt at Himalayas you are just paying extra for the nice downtown old market atmosphere but the food dishes itself where ok at best. Just cant recommend them for the price.

Great place for authentic Indian food. I had the Goa Shrimp and it was delicious, came with basmati rice and a salad for $16. Very friendly wait staff too. Only draw back was the wait time, probably close to 20 min but most likely because they make it fresh.

In the space of the former Indian Oven, a sister to Lincolns Haymarket The Oven. Food was delicious- especially the hummus, mulligatawny and chicken tikka. Service was friendly, prompt & extremely helpful. Will definitely be back whenever we are in town!

Great food, good portions, and highly recommended! A little understaffed for how busy it got, but not severely so - and hard to predict that day to day. Still, they were courteous, attentive, and the food was delicious, and at a reasonable price.

Weird cool music and super awesome service. The best was the chicken tikka masala madras and lamb madras. Chicken naan was interesting. Seems more like individual dishes than family style but its definitely worth going to.

Service was good but the Indian food is not the best. Unfortunately, the meat was very dry, not much sauce but the spices are there. Will not come back. Just find out that its the same owner as the Oven in Lincoln NE.

Unbelievable Indian food in the midst of the Old Market. Everything is fantastic, headlined by the outstanding staff. Attention, knowledgeable, and friendly without being overbearing. A true gem of the area.

Very good. Stuffed paratha bread was amazing with sauce. Salad was surprisingly delicious with a dijon sauce. Pork dish was good and I left the restaurant full.
