I grew up in a Chinese household close to New York City. Between my mothers cooking and my parents knowing where all the good Chinese food Long Island and Queens had to offer was, I was wary of Chinese food in Bozeman. (My parents still are; they wont eat here, or any other Chinese place in town.) Chinatown is, hands down, the best in Bozeman. The number one thing that makes it the best: the hot and sour soup. The only other place I can think of that makes it as well is Chans Garden, and thats over 2000 miles away. Number two: sautéed green beans. Number three: sesame balls! Theyre not the same as the ones you can buy in Queens, but come on -- sesame balls! I dont think other places in town even have them, so thats a bonus to me. Overall, the cooking isnt quite as good as my mothers, but Chinatown doesnt use MSG so I have to cut them some slack. Their variety is much better than Moms, though. The service is always friendly and helpful, the music is the same awful stuff they play back east, and the prices are right where I would expect them to be for Bozeman. Youll pay a little more than you would going to McDonalds, but in this case, you get what you pay for!

Like a previous reviewer said about comparing Chinatown food with NYC, if you are FROM or have eaten in NYC, do not expect Chinatown to wow you with their overpriced menu and mediocre dishes. I do have to add though that in the Bozeman area they do have the best Hot and Sour Soup and the best Shrimp Fried rice the area has to offer, so I think in general, if you stick to either of the two, youd at least enjoy the meal. People, if you are spoiled and pampered by the low costs and deliciousness of NYC food, please, in the future, avoid the buffet of unknown regions. You are not doing yourself a service at all. If you are going to eat Chinese food in a region like Montana, safest bet is on the Shrimp fried rice. No matter how they screw it up, it will probably suffer that defect less than in comparison to all the other dishes. That is the virtue of a fried rice dish.

We used the reviews already posted to chose this restaurant from the 64 resteraunts listed in Bozeman. It was fabulous, some of the best Chinese food we have ever had. The portions were large and tasty . Not using MSG did not subtract from the flavor, just subtracted from the potential swelling! We would definitely visit again. On a side note, we ordered take out because we were traveling with our dog. The food was hot and they included all the sauces, utensils, (including forks and chopsticks) that we needed.

I have always ordered take out from Chinatown and have always had good food, but 4 of us went there Friday night and for some stupid reason (knowing fresh made is better), we all had the buffet and it was absolutely horrible! The low mien was SO BAD, all stuck together and tasted fishy. The cashew chicken had no cashews and was out so long the sauce was thick; I could go on for ever! This experience probably soured me for life, especially at $15/plate.

Took the family to dinner, this place use to be our choice years ago havent been in years and I will never go back. We should have walked out the moment we tasted the food but we were not wanting to be rude. Buffet is over priced, food was horrible and old. The food made the whole family sick! Called to talk to a manager about the incident only mins after leaving the resturant and was very rude and yelling at me. Not the same as it use to be.

Yeah, I dont get all the bad reviews. By far the best "Chinese" food in Bozeman. Which isnt saying much, but hey, its Montana. Ive never had dry or in any way poorly cooked food from here. I typically order out, so perhaps that is why? Only giving it 5 stars because it is much better than the rest of Bozemans "Chinese" food - maybe something more like 3.5/5 if I wasnt just comparing to Bozeman.

Had been a fan since 2000, but sadly they have really gone downhill... I have been away for a year and came back to find the dinner buffet to be cold and most of the dishes seemed to be reheated leftovers from lunch. They eventually brought out a few fresh items... On a positive note, they still have the BEST crab wontons and friendly service, but I dont know if its enough to bring me back...

Great food! Id almost given up on finding good Chinese around here until I tried this place. Yum! Great quality! I got take out, not super cheap, but what you get is worth it. I had mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken(not the bright scary colored sauce) and super fresh and flavorful.I also had an egg roll and the hot and sour soup. I recommend.

Ummm, not very good. We ordered 2 orders of BBQ pork, the cold kind you dip into sweet and sour, hot mustard, and sesame seeds. It came HOT, I never in my life had hot BBQ pork slices. YUCK, the sweet and sour was runny, we asked for seeds but got maybe a teaspoon. I will just go to Bamboo Garden where they do it right.

Worst food I have ever had. My first and last time to eat here. Food was dry and tasted burned. Over priced for the quality of the meal. The buffet if you can call it that was small and had no food on it to chose from. Wait staff was rude and uncaring about the food they was serving

We did not try the buffet, but ordered from the menu. Initially thought some of the entrees a bit pricey for standard Chinese fare. But we felt all our dishes were fresh, and cooked with quality ingredients and worth the price. Thanks for a great meal.

Worst Chinese food I have ever had. Customer service was ok at best. Had the almond chicken, it was cold boiled chicken. I wouldnt let my dog eat here. Im not picky but bad Chinese food is better than this place. Overpriced and gross.

The best Chinese in town with the best customer service! No matter what you order its fantastic, and theyre highly accommodating for Celiacs! No need to worry about gluten at this restaurant, just tell them what you need! Love it!

I dont see where these negative reviews come from. Weve eaten here since 2002, same great recipes over time. The owners visit guests in person, make sure you are happy. What more do folks want?

I liked nothing about it. Egg drop soup was sweet, fried rice was flavorless, Szechuan pork tasted only like green peppers, the best part was a bland egg roll. Never going there again!!

My family loves to come here as a big group. There is a great mix of more authentic dishes on the menu, and crowd-pleasers on the buffet. Price is just about right, too.

I am not sure if it is authentic but it is certainly tasty. I have eaten at Chinese Restaurants all over the US and this is my favorite.
