This and Donatellis are probably the only two restaurants I can honestly give five stars to. This is by no means a high end restaurant, but omg the food is to die for and the margaritas are the best!!! They work extremely hard at this place on customer satisfaction and they offer indoor dining as well as outdoor dining. the outdoor dining on the deck overlooking the lake adds everything to this experience. we love going to el maguey, drinking margaritas, looking at the lake, and having a bite to eat. this is an inexpensive treat. also, they often have coupons.

Poor experience again. My wife and I met another couple here for a drink. I havent been here for over a year due to multiple overcharges that last few time we were here. Again, I was significantly overcharged. Do not patronize this place. The manager said if I didnt like it I could leave even though he admitted they overcharged me. Watch your credit card receipt here.

I have eaten here many times over the years. In the past month the food and service has been by far the worst!! The service is slow, it took 45 min to get 2 plates when we were the only ones in the restaurant. Food came out wrong took another 20 min to get the food back. The one star is because of the location being by the lake, only good thing!!

The Lake St. Louis El Maguey is one of our favorite restaurants. The staff are unfailingly friendly and fun (they remember us and know what were going to order before weve even gotten seated) and the food (especially the fish tacos, which are to die for) is delicious. We like this location better than those of the other El Magueys, too.

This place never fails to disappoint. They take advantage of customers by over charging and under delivering on portions. ESPECIALLY when ordering take out. They up charge for toppings on nachos when they should come with the meal. Not to mention the chips and salsa that is supposed to be complimentary will be charged to the customer.

The food is really good. All the employees are very friendly and frequently ask how is everything is. Im not sure why all these negatives reviews. I just left 15 mins ago & the restuarant was full. So they must be doing something good. I absolutely recommend it. Im Mexican-American & I definitely can say this is authetic mexican food.

Totally different El Maguey experience! We often go to St Charles El Maguey. Tonight we wanted Mexican and a patio. Total score was the lake view! We ordered the Gordo plate( not on our local EM) and was surprised at the great flavor! We added extra cilantro and would add extra lime juice in the future. Everything else was perfect.

El Maguey is always the place to go! Lakeside plus great prices means you can enjoy your meal and the scenery too! The staff always includes you with the authentic Mexican dining experience and are fluent in English as well! Enjoy your meal lakeside with all the pleasantries of Mexico crossed with American flare as well.

Came in to get carry out. Got there when my food was supposed to be ready had to wait another 30 minutes to get it, received no apology from the staff and when I asked about it the guy said they were really busy. I was literally the only customer in the restaurant. (Which should tell you something at 11:30 on Mothers Day.)

We frequent both of the Lake Saint Louis El Maguey restaurants and love them both. I can easily recommend their new bbq chicken fajita quesadillas. The mix of flavors is delicious! Other standard favorites are chicken chimichangas, fajitas, nachos, and of course the margaritas!

Tried to use a coupon only to be told "No coupon on Fri or Sat." Despite the fact that no where in the restaurant does it say this NOR anywhere on the actual coupon itself. Theres plenty of other places without made-up coupon rules that can have my business. Will not be back.

Food is prepared disregaring standard sanitary conditions. Most workers are illegals. Be carefull. You will get sick. The Place has been reported to the health department. Why the place is still open? Where are the food inspectors?

Food was not up to usual standards. Service was very slow and they were not very busy. The enchilada Special looked like a Banquet frozen entree and tasted about same. Wentzville location has always been great but LSL let me down

Pretty good food, everything seemed a bit different here compared to other El Magueys in the area, mostly in a good way. Parking is hard to come by on busy days but they have lots of seating. The lake view is really nice.
