Was super excited to hear of a new place opening in the Liberty area. Thats one thing that is lacking up here is trendy, solid dining options. Well once we heard about Trago from some friends we had to check it out. Plus, who doesnt love Tapas? We knew it would be prefect for us to experience since it would give us a good idea of what Trago was all about. We arrived about 7pm on Saturday night. Place was busy but not packed. We had called ahead and reserved a table though, just in case. The atmosphere was awesome. Wall to wall, trendy decor. Loved the tables and bar area. Plus outside there is a patio setup to die for (though I hear there is no music or anything out there). We didnt partake out on the patio since it isnt covered and it was raining pretty hard. We were seated right away but then had to wait well over 5 minutes to have someone come to take our drink order. Our server then discovered we didnt have any drink menus, once we started asking about the house cocktails. The server said shed be back with drink menus but then stopped and took care of two other tables before returning, so we wound up waiting several minutes more before she returned to get our drink orders. As a former bartender, I didnt feel like the restaurant had prepped her to be very knowledgeable on the cocktails so she couldnt really describe them well. I went ahead and ordered the house mango margarita anyways, since she said the mix was all done in house. Lets just say it was not very good and easily forgettable, aside from the gorgeous color. We decided to order 4 tapas plates: CEVICHE DE CAMARÓN SCALLOP RISOTTO TACOS HINCHADOS and a house special for the night, Bourbon Bacon Flat Bread The plates arrived very timely, so the service in that aspect was spot on. As the plate arrived the server told us what was what. CEVICHE DE CAMARÓN: So this was just fair. The chips it was served with were nice and crunchy. The guac was under seasoned, and the shrimp was just pretty plain. But ya know all in all it wasnt terrible. SCALLOP RISOTTO: So this was what I was most looking forward to, as this combined two things I absolutely love! Man, I was completely let down because the risotto had the flavor of cardboard and the scallops were a tad bit underdone and actually flavorless themselves as well. I really wish they had gotten this one right too. TACOS HINCHADOS: So these are basically puffy tacos and they looked awesome. I really enjoyed the sauce on them, but either the meat inside or the shell was slightly burned, so I kept tasting that as well. It didnt totally ruin the dish, but it didnt really make me want to order it again either. Finally the flatbread: So the server said this was gonna be fabulous. The bread itself had a nice, puffy and soft texture. The bourbon BBQ sauce was nothing fancy (honestly could find something comparable on a grocery store shelf in a bottle more than likely), and the bacon, was well, I mean it was bacon and bacon is good right? Of the 4 dishes this was probably the best one. My gf didnt care for it because of the goat cheese on it, but I love goat cheese so I finished it off. I ordered a Caipirinha to finish the night off. For those who havent had this, its a brazillian cocktail that is similar to the Cuban Mojito. In the case of Tragos it came across as tasting like pure lime juice. I know its a lime drink but having had these before, the flavor profile just wasnt quite there. So in the end as excited as we were to have such an awesome idea with a really cool environment come to the Liberty area, my gf and I agreed we really couldnt see a reason to return. Having tried several of the dishes and being let down by all of them, as well as not really enjoying the cocktails either, there just isnt enough there to bring us in over and over. Its too bad because it really was a nice idea.

Awesome to see a place like this in Liberty MO. Something different other than McDonalds, Arbys and all the other boring ass chains. I wanted to give four stars but had a few issues. The meat and cheese board was just ok. The crackers that came on it were what looked like Keebler Toasteds or whatever they are called out of a box. The jamondor also looked like something from the grocery store lunch meat. The rest of the selection on our board was good though. The puffy tacos are awesome and the ceviche was good. But disappointed that the two plates we originally wanted they were out of. For drinks the wife had a red sangria first she wasnt thrilled about. But her Cosmo chi chi she had was good. I had an old fashioned which was watered down but ok. Wait staff was awesome. Everyone was nice and helpful and came around often. We will go back to give it another try. I wanted to leave there loving it. But left optimistic about its future potential.

Went there with 2 other couples, they werent horribly busy and I worked in the restaurant industry so I am more than lenient when it comes to service if a server is busy. The drinks took 15 min to get and my friend had to order 4 different times bc they were out of so many beers. The sangria wasnt sangria, they just poured it from a bottle in a glass with ice and threw in an orange. Was really looking forward to this place but after the slowest drunk order ever and the "sangria" we decided not to eat there and go to conrads instead. I would not recommend this place pretty disappointed bc I had high expectations. To address us being loud and swearing you must be trying to cover yourself from a bad review and throw it back at us. It was not us, we complained amongst ourselves as we were all with our Gfs or wife. You did not have to watch us on camera thats ridiculous, we were fed up with the bad service asked for our tabs and left.

Ill start with the good: super friendly staff, food and drinks were served quickly, the decorations and look of the place are welcoming and generally nice. Now the bad. The place is absurdly loud. The music was competing with the handful of people talking and our table could barely hear what we were saying to each other. The food looked like it had been thrown onto the plate with zero regard to presentation. Portions of each meal were undercooked or luke warm. Each plate was nearly half of a sensible portion. While I understand tapas are generally small portions, its unreasonable to charge such a high price for really small and mediocre quality plates. This place has such potential and I really look forward to having something so eclectic in Liberty. Lots of room to improve though.

Been several times and have not had a single bad experience. I was in on several nights where all seating areas were PACKED and prepared myself for a long wait, and tough service. Happily though, I was continually surprised with the attentiveness of the wait staff, and barkeep alike. The food is amazing, the environment is a perfect pairing for the eats and drinks. Could not be prouder of this family owned small business for popping up in the heart of Liberty, and blowing past its expectations. Cheers!
