My husband and I were so excited to visit because of all the hype...unfortunately we were very unimpressed. We arrived and found the man taking our order to be very kind and explain the slightly less than conventional system that they use here, but found it to be quite the inconvenience to have to squeeze between tables and past people in the highly crowded restaurant. We got our meal ordered and discovered that they only take cash, something a little frustrating in this day of time, but doable since they have an ATM on site. After getting the cash and then squeezing back to the front to pay, the nearly $30 price tag seemed a little high for the two of us, but we were eagar to get to experience what we had heard and read about the burgers there. After getting the food and dressing it, my first bite required an entire napkin alone to clean my face from the grease. The bun was instantly soggy and nasty. The burgers themselves tasted good, but I had to peel the soggy bun off and just eat the meat due to the massive amount of grease coming out of my sandwich. The fries had the appearance of being raw, but, after biting into them, they tasted over cooked. There was no flavor at all to them and, for the first time ever, I saw my husband not finish his fries due to the low quality. Our waitress checked on us once and that was really only on her way through the dining room (without stopping) by asking how we were doing, where we had to ask for our check since our burgers and fries were pushed away from us. I was glad that it happend afterwards, but as we were sitting and waiting for the check to pay for our drinks (also a strange thing to have to pay twice throughout 1 meal), I noticed a man come out of the kitchen and spray windex on the sneeze guard covering the condiments. This was made disgusting by the fact that he closed the lid to the condiments after having sprayed the top and edge of the sneeze guard. There is no way that a certain amount of Windex didnt soak into the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, etc. since the lid was not closed until AFTER spraying it. The whole experience was so disappointing because the money couldve been better spent somewhere that we wouldve enjoyed exponentially more. Ive heard many people rant and rave about Westport Flee Market, but I highly doubt that we will ever be back.

1. The waitresses only bring drinks and do not take food orders. 2. Softdrinks are $2.50 plus tip (around $10 for 3 SOFTDRINKS with a refill every 20 to 30 minutes if you are there that long). If you order liquor they come back more often because they will get more tips. 3. You have to go to the bar to order food (if you go to the bar to order drinks with your food they refer you to the waitress). 4. You must have cash (no debit/credit but you can pay them a fee to use the ATM in the bar). 5. Extra $1.50 charge for to go orders. 6. Lettuce, tomato, pickle, mayo, etc are on a cart next to the window where you have to pick up your food. It is always a mess and you get to handle untensils that everyone else has used like a buffet (great for cold and flu season). 7. The curly fries are most often under cooked, mushy with little flavor. When cooked properly they are ok but that hasnt happened too often when Ive been there. 8. Hamburgers are not as great as they are made out to be. They have a unique flavor that I cant really describe but it is not something I can say that I really like. 9. Tuna melt is usually a soggy mess because they dont bother to drain the condensation off of it after it has sat in the fridge. They just slap the drippy mess on some bread and grill it. 10. 6 onion rings are $3.50. They are normal size onion rings in a little paper boat. You would think they would be quite large for that price. 11. Bonus Reason: You are surrounded by tons of garbage that people have removed from garages and are trying to sell. Im surprised I havent seen a roach yet. Its too bad that the new management doesnt have the brains to make improvements . Instead they keep all of the crappy things in place. I liked this place better back when I drank and would only go in on occasion and was probably half in the bag. Now I dont drink and notice all of the crappy things about it.

If I was only rating the food, Id probably give it three stars. It wasnt bad by any means, but there are significantly better burgers out there. The atmosphere of this place was take-it-or-leave-it - some people will like the dingy look, but I dont particularly care for it. The service, though, is quite possibly the worst service I have ever had in a restaurant. Calling it "service" is too strong a word. I drank my soda, and was never offered a refill, even though the server walked by my table several times. When I tried to pay the ticket for the sodas, I needed a bit of change. Again, she walked by the table several times when the money was out and didnt even look at me or it. So, instead, I used just enough money to cover the bill and left without giving the server a tip. I hope shes happy with her wage of $3.65/hour. All she did for us was take our drink order, bring the sodas, and the check for the sodas - the server doesnt even bring your food at this place. Also, this place doesnt take credit cards. Please, do yourself a favor and have a burger at BRGR or Blanc or even Five Guys (I havent tried Beer Kitchen yet, but I hear good things). Those places at least care that youre a paying customer, and their burgers are all much better.

This is my favorite burger in KC. Fresh beef. Great taste. It would receive five stars, but every time we go we leave complaining about how rude the person taking orders was (different people...all rude). We tell ourselves, "Well, we dont come here for the service, we come for the food." But then, a couple days ago, the next morning after we had eaten at WFM, we went out for coffee at one of our favorite spots. The food and coffee were as good as always AND the service was excellent. I was reminded that you dont have to be one or the other. You can have good service with kind people AND good food. Westport Flea Market only has one of these. When I asked the lady behind the counter why she was so upset with me, she got even more upset and told me that she wasnt upset. She spent my whole order, which was very simple, sighing heavily and rolling her eyes. If the burgers werent as good as they are, we wouldnt go back. If the service was better (nicer) wed go more often.

I had my wedding reception at Westport Flea Market in one of their private rooms. We had 50 people and they only gave us ONE server. It was terrible service, took forever to get a drink. My guests had to go to the bar to order drinks because the service was so slow. And because they only accept cash at the bar it made many of my guests angry. The owner/manger then told us he would get us another server and never did. We ran out of burgers on our buffet line before the bride, groom or parents paying for dinner had even been served. Instead of just bringing out more burgers they argued with us and then made us pay $10 per extra burger we wanted. The food was amazing but I will never go back to this place. Awful service.
