My wife and I went to Stone Soup Cottage for our anniversary dinner recently. We had been wanting to go for a couple of years but never made the time. I can state with absolute conviction that the wait was worth it, SSC provided us with one of the finest meals we had ever eaten! We arrived at 6:20pm (dinner starts at 7pm) and ordered cocktails to start off. Once they arrived we walked out onto the patio and took in the beautiful valley, trees, small lake and cozy patio. The sun was peering down on us from a bright blue sky. We marvelled at both the setting and the building itself. Reclaimed barnwood and stone were used heavily both inside and out, creating a rustic, beautiful atmosphere. The dinner process itself was a thing of wonder. Expect the 6-7 courses to take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to complete. The food was served plated to perfection, well spaced out to provide time to both enjoy the selection in front of you and to build anticipation for the next treat to come from the kitchen. Carl, the chef, came out and personally delivered the plates with his staff. He was a fantastically warm and engaging man and made you feel not only welcomed but as if he was honored to have your presence there. Every plate that came to us brought a smile and a new admiration for Carl and his ability to create delicious experiences my boring engineer mind thrilled over. 1st: Chilled pisto soup 2nd: Spring farm salad with Cantal cheese & Ramp souffle 3rd: Florida red snapper w/ ginger, spring peas and pork belly beignet Intermezzo: Rhubard sorbet with rosemary essence 4th: Wild mushroom lasagna with green tomato marina and garden herbs 5th: Coq au vin w/italian truffles and buttermilk biscuit 6th: Salted caramel pot de creme with milk chocolate tuile Each new item that came brought new flavors, new visual artistry and new levels of appreciation for the chef. The experience here is one to be savored and warmly remembered. Whether you are looking for a new culinary experience, a chance to eat at the table of a master chef or celebrating an important personal milestone, you will be thrilled. Take the time to make a reservation at Stone Soup Cottage and create a lasting memory of what the pinnacle of food experience can be!

Stone soup cottage hits the nail on the head for fine dining. The venue is located on a small farm type setting down a long driveway. As you approach you might think youre in the wrong place because of all of the equipment that is out front. All seating is by reservation and dinner is served to all guests at the same time. Seating usually happens at 7 but you can show up and have cocktails out on the patio or the small bar area before hand. At seating they will call everyone into the dining area. Everyone eats off of the same multi course menu of which they do allow for vegetarian substitutions. Ive had the opportunity to eat here twice and even though its a huge meal I was each time left wanting more! The host and chef will both come out to each table and explain most of the dishes which can be awkward but sometimes I do like to know what Im getting into and what to expect in a meal especially if its something a bit new. If you get the chance do eat at Stone Soup Cottage.

Everyone should come here once. Its a dining experience unlike any other. The food was absolutely delicious, but what stuck with me the most is the extraordinary personal attention from the staff, most notably the modified menu for my lactose intolerant wife. Examples: Manhattan style chowder instead of cream, fish cooked in lemon sauce instead of butter, rice milk pumpkin ice cream instead of cows milk. It was absolutely wonderful of the chef to specially prepare these dishes so that she could experience something similar to what I had on the regular menu. No other prix fixe restaurant has *ever* done anything like that for us.

Wonderful experience. Welcomed warmly and set at ease after horrible traffic. Unusually good wine for a flight, perfect for the menu. Every dish exquisite and thoughtfully described by chef and staff. Appreciated details like not having conversations interrupted, and high level of knowledge of even the bus ladies. But best of all the food was unusual and perfect. This is a special place for celebration. No wonder it took 3 months for a reservation! Thanks to all. Thanks SSC. Remembered the story from childhood after seeing the book there

Attended one of the March 2017 events with a navarin printanière, roasted garlic and cantal quiche, lobster thermidor, gnocchi, and napoleon of roasted rabbit. Superb meal, everything was excellent. In a dégustation style of dining such as this, a chef may be tempted to wow you with sharp intensities of flavor. Stone Soup takes a moderating approach, bringing a perfect balance to each dish. Nothing overwhelmed, no element out of balance, and the pacing timed with absolute precision and perfection. A culinary triumph!

Stone Soups new setting is excellent. Its a perfect location that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The food is superb...I wouldve licked my bowl after each course if I couldve! Carl and Nancy have set up an amazing dining experience from every aspect-location, food, wine...were looking forward to returning.

We have traveled to many foreign lands and have wonderful fine cuisine memories. However, none of these eclipse any one of our multiple visits to Stone Soup wherein we willingly put ourselves under the spell of Carl and Nancy and their wonderful staff. We love sharing SSC with family, friends and even our pastor and his wife.

My wife and I have been here 4 times in the last 5 years, and we have loved it every time. It is safe to say the best food we have ever eaten has been prepared by Chef Carl and the staff at Stone Soup. We cant say enough about how every part of the experience is authentic and personal.

The greatest combinations of new and traditional prepared with expert skill and dedication to the culinary art. This is truly a one of a kind Gem that you have to experience. Nothing else in the entire St. Louis region comes close to stone stone cottage.

It was a great experience. I appreciate what they are doing for St. Charles County, but $90 a person is a tad too much for what you get. $60 would be a bit more appropriate. Ive been to NYC and San Diego, and Ive had similar cuisine for less.

Food is delicious! Most of their dishes made with fresh local ingredients. A very nice place good for special occasions. Somewhere you can actually eat, talk and enjoy the time.
