Stopped by the newer 5-8 in West St Paul recently to give their juicy lucy a try, as I had never tried 5-8 out before (always went to Matts in Mpls.). What a complete disappointment. The burger was cooked Well Done, and I mean Well Done - small and tough, with no hint of pink anywhere - yet was surprisingly cold inside (got my order as it was coming out of kitchen, should have been warmer). Tepid, semi-melted cheese. The seasoning was almost a crusting on outside, thick and overly salty, and was the only real flavor. I get the strong impression that this burger was tossed in the fryer at some point, and it tasted like something mass-produced. A small lump of pickles and maybe a few onions were located in one corner of the bottom bun - very stingy. Fries were decent, and the service was fine (to-go order). Hands-down the worst juicy-lucy Ive ever had, and I have no plans on going back to any 5-8 in the future. I dont know how people can rave about this place - it doesnt hold a candle to Matts (or even Culvers, for that matter).

Absolutely, hands down, the worst restaurant experience I have ever had; and that is saying something! First, if you go there between 5-7 pm. you are going to wait at least 20 minutes just to get seated. Second, we never even got our food! Our waitress disappeared, and we watched as people who were seated LONG after us got their food. I had a direct view of the kitchen door, and I saw orders just sitting there for 20 minutes at a time. After an hour total of being there, we just left and told the manager why. She claimed there was "a problem in the kitchen" and they had a started a new order for us. I said, "No. Weve been here close to an hour and we are leaving." Ive worked in the food industry myself, and I know that they couldve at least mentioned it and offered appetizers or discounts or ANYTHING other than just ignoring us and avoiding us. We promptly went to the next door Rack Shack and good food with 15 minutes. These people should be ashamed of themselves. Id give them a negative rating if I could. Were never going there again.

My 5-8 experience was HORRIBLE. I called to complain about my experience and had to call SIX times before the phone was FINALLY answered. I told them my complaint. They told me to blame Bite Squad, the company I had ordered my food through. When I asked why I would blame Bite Squad for putting pickles on my food, she replied "I dont know. You need to talk to a manager." I asked if there was a manager available. "No, youre going to need to call back later." was the response. She was obviously trying to get rid me. I am EXTREMELY angry. The 5-8 customer service is absolutely, positively OUTRAGING. It isnt likely that will go back to this restaurant, but if I do, I expect the service to be at least good. I simply cannot believe that in this day and age, the customer is treated like poop! As a long time customer to this restaurant chain, I am shocked that I am treated so badly after being so loyal to this place, and defending it when other people criticize it. But now, I understand. I WILL NEVER GIVE THE 5-8 CLUB MY BUSINESS AGAIN.

Do not waist your time or money. Horrible service and the food was ok at best. Got there at 430pm when their was no one in the place and we had to grab a server. They just kept walking by like we were not there. We ordered our food and it took 30 minutes to get a few burgers. Our food was dropped off by other servers and then they split. We did not get asked if we needed anything, nor did they even refill our drinks. Once again we had to yell out to our server to get her to refill our drinks after we had been served our food 10 minutes pior. I ordered a mushroom and swiss. It was the smallest burger I have ever received at a sit down restaurant. It must have been a 4oz patty before cooking because it was about 2oz patty on my plate. I feel like I got the kids size burger. I said somthing and of corse I got the "that is our regular size". If you want a good burger go to B-52S in Inver Grove Heights. They know how to make great burgers and the saff takes care of you.

Food is typical bar food- love their appetizers. The service is always AMAZING! and because of the great service, we are regulars. We have become friends with all the bartenders! Amy is the manager and is always wonderful and accommodating. We also always have a great time with Tony & Sandy! We always get our drinks without even asking- they remember what we get and we are served just seconds after sitting down. When I order French Onion soup I dont even have to tell Sandy "no bread"- She always remembers! Tony makes a hell of a Bloody Mary! Our kid enjoys it too! We come here often to play pull tabs, bingo, and trivia! We play a lot of their board games they provide as well- a lot of fun for a family game night! Clean, friendly, and fun environment! We love 5-8!

eeeewwww, how does this place survive. My friend and I went just to have a beer and him to get some food as he just returned from a later flight--the boneless wings are mostly all soggy breading with very little chicken (they are about the size of a McNugget but more spherical), AND the bartender described the Xtreme Fries, but when they came, she sort of apologized and said, I guess that is not what the Xtreme fries are, the cook said this is what they are..... I kind of think they just decided it was late enough that nobody else would order food, so maybe THEY didnt want to make the food anymore...so they didnt..... The Xtreme fries came with halfway melted cheese (very little of it) and some crunchy bacon bits...

Great server, but below average food. No cheese in the juicy style burgers. For the cheese, I had to cut the burger in half to realize it was actually there. They have me a sunny side up egg with raw egg white ( only half the egg white cooked) They took the burger back to try to fix it, but how it returned to me leads me to believe they took the plat and just put it under a salamander because the bottom of the bun was completely soaked with grease and goop from the burger sitting put together

My boyfriend and I went here after a long night and it was on our list of restaurants to try. He didnt particularly like the Juicy Lucy, as it gave him aches in the wrong parts after less than an hour and I had gotten the French garlic bread buger, which was amazing! Service could be a little bit better. But overall, I dont think I would return unless this was the only restaurant open around the area. It has a nice family dining environment, however.

our waitress was very nice and was doing the best she could in her situation. she was the only worker there!!! and there was over 20 people seated when we arrived. bartender, waitress, cook. pretty sure she was doing everything. with that said, the food is really under Par. the prices are high, the burgers are thin and small. the flavors are null and void. this was my second time at the 5 and 8 and it will definitely be my last.
