3 stars - with some personal reservations. We arrived about 6:30 for some dinner, got seated right away and were approached immediately by our server who gave us menus (and leveled our table so it would stop wobbling). Upon hearing the recitation of the beers on tap, we ordered drinks and got to looking at the menu. Our server came back with the drinks and took our orders - so far so good. Shortly thereafter, our meals appeared and then it went to hell. A *few* more people came in and got seated, and we never saw our server again. The food was good... but as our drinks got low we never saw her - the wife caught her eye but that resulted in no change. Finally she got up, grabbed a drink menu from the hostess station, and sat back down. After another 5-10 our server came over (empty plates, empty glasses) and while she scooped up the drink menu (!!) she asked if she could interest us in dessert. My wife: "No, well just leave". We got the check, paid, and left. I know that the script can be kind of tired - "get food, server asks how it is, you say fine, server leaves" - but its there for a reason! If our food had sucked, we would have had to run around and physically pull the server back to our table. A bummer of a service which put us off ever coming back there. It was not THAT busy. No idea why we were suddenly invisible. Disappointing.

Town Talk reopened as Le Town Talk, a southern French restaurant (which I learned about from articles about it, even though Google still says they are closed). My husband is from the same area that the new owner is from near Marseille. We were reluctant to try it because the prices were low and we had 2 bad experiences with restaurants here claiming to do french food when in fact it was anything but. This place beyond exceeded expectations. Hubby ordered the Bouillabaisse which admittedly, we thought they would get wrong. It turned out to be delicious!!! We were both surprised by that. It was a bit small, but considering the price that it normally goes for, we were very happy. Basically everything that came out, the wine, the appetizers the meals were all extremely delicious. My daughter had the crepe with ham and cheese which was amazing. We were told they do a brunch with build your own crepes that we will certainly go back for. a VERY happy surprise on a journey to find good, affordable French food in the Twin Cities. So many places claiming to have affordable French food get it wrong. They certainly didnt!! Try it!!

GO TO THIS PLACE SERIOUSLY IT IS SO GOOD. Ok, now that Ive got that out of the way, specifics: the food is amazing, the drinks are amazing, the service is amazing. This is not an exaggeration. One of the best brunches Ive ever had in my entire life, and the bloody Marys are very solid. The food will knock your socks off. Tip for management though: have a sign that pokes out into the street more, the place is kinda hard to find and easy to pass accidentally. Also, when you first walk in, youre greeted with the sight of what appears to be a greasy spoon diner, which is anachronistic to the actual classiness of the place, so maybe make the diner part less trashy and clashy with the aesthetic of the rest of the restaurant? But this is all just surface level stuff, the drinks and food are amazing. Please dont ever change that.

We ate dinner on 7/10/09 and the food was good but not great. It might have been worth the money if the service was better. Approximately half of the tables were occupied on a friday night at 7:30. We were seated promptly, but it took 5 minutes to get water and a menu. Then it took an additional 10 minutes to be greeted by a waitress. By then, we were ready to place our full order. Two bottles of beer took an additional 10 minutes. Dinner was an additional 20 minutes after the beers arrived (that was a full 30 minutes to get a couple of burgers). And our service was no slower than any other table. The food wasnt that great. Its just not worth the time investment.

Hey all! When youre reading these reviews, be aware that Le Town Talk is brand new, and so any reviews older than 1 year are about AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT RESTAURANT. The new French bistro here is fun, delicious, and the service has been excellent the three times Ive been here. In fact, I enjoyed a very special New Years here where the cocktails were delightful, and then the owner was kind enough to treat us with a glass of champagne to ring in the New Year. Great ambiance, and cheerful service. Definitely worth a try! If youre here for breakfast, give the Madame Benedict a whirl.

I saw this place on the local news channel and decided to check it out. We went on tuesday for date night. The deal was a bottle of wine, an appetizer to share, an entree each, and a dessert to share for $45. The service was awesome, very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing. We had the Corsican stew, and I should add that I dont even like tomatoes and I thought this tomato based stew was just amazing. The seating is close together, and since it wasnt too busy it was cozy and not too noisy or crowded. I look forward to trying more things on their menu and will be back :)

We have been here twice and wont ever go back. The first time, the food arrived cold after a very long wait; the food didnt come out as ordered (and vegetarians had meat on their plates); and our drinks werent refilled. The second time, they never ordered our food at all, and didnt realize it until we had waited 35 minutes and asked about it. I told them that I didnt want to wait for food that hadnt even been ordered yet. In my experience, the service here is awful. I cant speak to the food, since once it was cold eggs and the other time it never came at all.

terrible service, good food. on a slow sunday night, we waited 20 minutes for waters, and another 30 minutes for our sandwiches. after 2 servers said they would get us waters, nothing happened, so i walked and found a server and asked for waters. all the while some dude- cook? bouncer? manager? stood by the server station and stared into the dining room. hey dude- help your coworkers. hey coworkers- whats going on here?

Stopped in for a quick brunch. Sat at the bar and chatted with the friendly staff. I wanted something lighter so ordered the quiche with scallions and bacon. The filling was creamy fluffy and light. The crust crispy and flakey. Best quiche I have had in town. I really recommend this place for brunch, dinner, or happy hour and drinks. I have been here about 4 times now and have really enjoyed each visit. Thanks!!

We were happy with every aspect of our meal: the service was attentive and knowledgeable about the right-sized menu, which the host informed us was regularly changing. Food and drink were absolutely lovely. The Penicillin cocktail alone is worth the trip. If you dont mind sharing an evening there with your children, they can order a small plate of anything on the menu for free. Highly recommend.
