The food was good; however, it was over 1 hour before our entrees arrived. The server was pleasant but not well trained. Their coffee was the weakest that weve ever had. But that isnt why Im taking the time to write a review. It was the attitude of the owner that prompted this review. The outdoor seating area was very busy; however, the main dining area had 4 4-tops available. Instead of seating us at one of the 4 tops, the owner took us to an adjacent room that was dark & unappealing. He directed us to a high top. I explained that I didnt want a high top (Im petite, 53" & high tops are not comfortable for me). He said, "Well if you dont take this high top, then you will have to wait for one of our 2-tops to open up." After we were seated, I returned to the main dining room to see that the couple waiting right behind us in line had been seated at one of the 4 tops. Later, another couple was seated at a 4 top in our dining area. The owner came to this other room several times & greeted others but not us. Perhaps because he sensed my displeasure. The food was good but I will not support an establishment that would treat anybody the way that I was treated. At least our bike ride was fabulous.

Our party of 6 went to the Bistro on Tuesday at about 2 PM for the Revs Birthday lunch. There were a couple of tables to accommodate us ... but, the hostess also offered a larger table in the extra dining room, in case we felt more comfortable there! Oh Yes! It was more private and perfect for the occasion! Service was excellent; prompt, efficient and friendly. Beverages were served quickly and the server carefully took our orders with a smile and great suggestions. Six different sandwiches with sides ... and a Greek salad for all to share. EVERYONE raved! The salad was fabulous! I tasted the beef Gyro, the Walleye and two different chicken sandwiches ... and they were all delicious. The grilled cheese and Cardinal burger looked very tempting, as well. We were so glad to have chosen this place ... and plan to be back soon! P.S. Dont let negative comments about the owner bother you. Hes a good man and a character ...and makes every party more fun ... we love him!

Just stopped for a mid-morning breakfast at the Bistro on a nice 20 mile Sunday ride along the Dakota Rail Trail. Breakfast was great - I had the Bistro Organic Hash and my wife had the Bistro breakfast sandwich. We have made this a regular stop since the trail opened three years ago for breakfasts, lunches and dinners. We have always had great food and service every time we have visited. It is located just steps off the trail in St. Bonifacious. We give the Bistro two strong thumbs up! PS ... Some of the other cyclists have given less than sterling reviews I noted below- they must have come in with an attitude or with splinters in their saddles. We are also dog lovers but dont begrudge the patrons who dont want other peoples dogs running around them while they are eating. Cut Bob some slack for making the other patrons comfortable and enjoy the Bistro.

Looked like a cute place, but DONT BE FOOLED. I stopped while biking for a soda. Sat at a dirty table, owner cleaned table but didnt even acknowledge me. After waiting a few min for service, decided to walk inside and order my soda myself, so not to put out the waitresses. After taking my money (almost $2 for a can of Pepsi and a plastic cup of ice), told me Id be better served at the gas station down the road. Also made a comment about some peoples kids behind my back as I left the cafe. Carried my soda outside and sat at a table (there we lots empty), while owner ostensibly discussed with a couple at the next table how bikers came in and broke all the rules, were rude and had no manners. I would have liked to like the place and bring my family and friends back here, but I wont support someone who doesnt appreciate his customers.

I ride the Dakota county bike trail regularly and have stopped in the past for a drink or coffee. I realized this place is under new management and thought Id give it a try for dinner. My son and I stopped in about 530 and noticed the place has been completely redone inside with many improvements. Wait staff is friendly and professional. We opted for a burger but the menu is much more than burgers with many choices but it was a burger night for us. Food was outstanding in all regards. Fresh ingredients and great presentation. One of the new owners came out and visited and made sure everything was to our liking with sincere interest. A nice touch. Im anxious to go back and try one of the many varied entrees I saw on the menu when we head back that way. Highly recommended and we will be back

I had heard both good and bad things about the bistro, so I decided to check it out today while on an afternoon bike ride. Unfortunately, it was very obvious that the bistro was trying to pass itself off as a classy dine-in restaurant instead of the charming cafe I was hoping for. There was a hand-written sign posted at the entrance to the patio which read wait to be seated but since there was nobody in sight we walked in the front door and were promptly told sorry this is not a walk-in service, we are a sit down diner in an unwelcoming manner. After being seated on the patio we witnessed the same unwelcoming and awkward situation happen several times. As far as the food goes, it was yummy but rather high priced. Since it felt like we were being too imposing, we will not be returning.

Horrible, most expensive, espresso shot I have ever had in the entire United States. ($5.99 for a double espresso shot, not a cappuccino, but simply a double shot of espresso) In our area, this should be $1.95 to $2.50 maximum. And I own a coffee roastery so this is not an exaggeration. The "Barista" literally had to ask me how to make an espresso, as she had never made one. (Very sweet girl) I felt sorry for her. This was a Saturday morning mind you. (Great employee training!!!) The espresso had zero crema. Not just low crema, but zero crema. Likely a low grade, espresso blend. Or maybe not an espresso blend at all. FYI. I would have submitted this negative review privately and directly to the owner, had their website offered a Contact Us form.

Perfect location on the new bike trail. Two outdoor patios and a comfortable indoor seating area. Everything is organic. Owner is a gregarious guy who will chat you up for as long as you care to listen, or leave you alone if you like. Everything is from scratch; this may be the only restaurant in existence that does not get a Sysco delivery. The Gyro is outstanding. The pancakes are simple but well executed. No Espresso, but they serve organic French press coffee which is a nice treat. Watch the hours. Only open 10-2 during the week and 8-2 on weekends. One of those non-chain, unique places with good food and an interesting story. A fun destination regardless of how you get there.
