2015 brought a new tough reality to my life, I had to get out of debt. Cutting out vacations and changes to the wardrobe were off budget this year, but more so, eating out. Its been tough, but also good for me. But on one day I was out and unable to pack a lunch, so I decided to visit one of my favorite restaurants, La Casitas. I love the chips, the food, and usually the service. But mostly, I love the atmosphere. Not the bar side, but the restaurant side. La Casitas in Roseville is one of the best Mexican themed restaurants in the Twin Cities. It takes me away and I feel like Im on vacation. This was probably going to be my only chance to escape from my budget for a long time, and I intended to enjoy it. When I walked in I was greeted by a guy, dark hair, maybe mid/late 20s. He seemed like he was multi-tasking and put out, especially when I told him I was alone. He looked around in frustration and said "follow me". He headed towards the bar side. "Do you have anything on the restaurant side?" I asked. "I have no servers available there" and his tone was "do you want to eat here or not?" He sat me in the bar where I stared at a big screen TV, and a noisy group who must have had a few and one guy in particular was laughing too loud. The food was the same good food. The experience was 0% special. I thought, just put me on the restaurant side and I will just eat chips. There were plenty of tables available, how hard can it be to carry my food over there? That was last week. Im not going to ever let someone wreck my lunch again. I would have driven somewhere else and relish my rare trip to a Mexican restaurant with pinatas, sombreros and authentic music.

One of my favorite restaurants in Roseville. The portions are huge. The food is delicious and real. Salsa bar with unlimited chips. Great for parties or family dinners! There are two kind of Mexican restaurant. The good, authentic kind and the horrible fake kind. This is definitely one of the GOOD ones. Of course restaurants in Latino neighborhoods of Minneapolis/Saint Paul are going to be more authentic than this, but if you live in the Roseville area and want something nearby this is perfect! Much better than the other Roseville options which are limited to Old Mexico and Don Pablos (yuck). Minnesotans are lucky to have so many of the "good kind" of Mexican food, I spent a few years in Manhattan and almost everything there was fake. Dont take this food for granted!

Vegan Mexican?!?! A friend wanted to try this place so I went expecting to only eat chips, rice and beans. Imagine my surprise when our waiter told me he is vegetarian and they can make many vegan foods! The hard thing is that they only have re-fried red beans for beans but they are vegan, so I can have burritos, fajitas, nachos, tacos, filled with sauteed veggies, the sky is the limit. The interior is what I call American Mexican, but not as over the top like other places. Generous bar area and copious seating in other places. My friend likes the taco salad and nachos too.

Ive eaten here many times even though Mexican is not my favorite type of food (my sister used to work here!). Recently my favorite entree has been the tortilla-crusted tilapia - light and limey with steamed veggies and rice on the side. I eat the entire thing. I also love the corn cakes - ask for two scoops! I prefer the specialty drinks (like the sangria of the month) over the sugary house margaritas (the same syrups are used to make the kiddie drinks). The service is always great, and if it isnt, just talk to Shawn :)

I went here with a couple friends yesterday and it was great! They werent very busy until around the time we were leaving so it was a nice quiet late afternoon lunch. I had two margaritas, an original and a blue raspberry; very yummy! We got enchiladas to go, and while they got soggy over night they arent bad! They could use some kick and maybe some onions, but I like them just fine without. Our waiter, Alex, was a nice boy and very attentive; he took very good care of us. We definitely will be going back soon!

Pancho Villa and Zapata would be shedding some tears knowing that this passes for "authentic" food. Shoddy service, food that was so hot that I couldnt touch the plate (nuked, perhaps), and an overall dreadful experience. Worse, a tip was taken out of the bill, and I never authorized it. Then they tried to explain to me that the bank "automatically" deducted it. Thats as authentic as a lie as their food. Ill take my business to the West Side or South Mpls when it comes to my Mexican food dining

Are here last night. Had a chimichanga where the sauce had the same consistency as canned gravy, most definitely not authentic and the meat was a strange color and not spiced. Made my stomach hurt when I left, didnt think much of it until I threw up an hour later. Never offered refills on chips and salsas and the hot sauce options were extremely lacking (cholula is considered a hot sauce at a Mexican restaurant?). Fried ice cream was good- we split that and it was a good amount.

We went for lunch today, and it was good and affordable- most lunch plates looked to be around or under $10. Server came by enough, food was quick enough and hot- maybe not the most authentic food, but that doesnt make it bad food! Portions were reasonable as well. One warning is that the architecture of the building means it gets pretty loud, even if its not packed. Still could hear our conversation, unsure if thatd be a problem with a fuller restraunt.

The servers are nice. The decor is lovely. The lackluster, "Minnesota- spicy" (bland as air) food is a feast for the eyes only. Really, dont put that in your mouth. You can add all the MSG in the world, it wont help compensate for the failed flavors or missing quintessential items. ( really guys? where are the sopes? Flan?) This place is a Mexican Applebees. Hey, corporate, revamp that menu, DO BETTER! At least the bathrooms are clean.

Harry is The Greatest! The Roseville location is by far the best especially compared to the one in Columbia Heights. We had a great happy hour, beans, salsa, queso, chips, all for free! I still ordered enchiladas to go and they brought it in a phenomenal aluminum tray instead of something flimsy like everybody else and it was beautiful and wonderful! Harry rocks!

Meh... Food bland. Place was on the dirty side. Service rather slow but that would have been ok if the food was tasty. The only good thing was they had a decent gluten free menu. Due to me being a Celiac... That is an important item. Too bad because the food was so tasteless we wont be going back. Drinks were good though.

Im visiting the area for a Street Machine show, and I, along with my co-workers, decided to give this place a try. Absolutely fabulous! The food was phenomenal (get the Baja Tacos), the Perfect Margarita was just that, and the service was speedy and pleasant. If Im in the area again, Ill definitely be coming back. Thanks!
