Average Mexican-inspired fare in generous portions and a typical family style restaurant atmosphere. Perhaps my favorite thing about Acapulco is the "bottomless" chips and salsa — Ive eaten far too many before my meal many times and regret it every time (but enjoy every bite of that regret). The main courses are OK, but nothing really exciting. The Mexican-style food seems kinda average to me — the strips of steak are usually dry and chewy (not moist and tender), the toppings usually seem like someone just dumped half the prep bar all over your plate, and nothing really ever stands out as being mind-blowingly delicious. Its good food, but not great. Its the kind of place you go to when you dont want to cook supper and want left-overs because you anticipate you wont want to cook the next day either. But its not a place you go to when you want to go out for really good central-American-inspired food. Ive been on their case numerous times, asking them to start carrying craft beer but it never seems to stick. They have the usual suspects: Corona, Bud, Negro Modelo, Summit EPA, and thats about it. Id love to see more creativity, a smaller menu, NO "American" options (their burgers are terrible), and find their way closer to more authentic Mexican inspired food. But its pretty mediocre as far as heat and flavor is concerned.

I have been going to this location for quite some time. The regular manager/bartender I see on most visits screwed up my order. He didnt listen and got the order wrong, assumed I wanted my food to go, and then I still had to wait for my food to be remade without any apology. He didnt ask me if I wanted chips and salsa until after my food was brought out, the second time, so I had to sit and wait around to eat something for 30 minutes when it was not even busy in the restaurant. I asked the manager if he would just cover my drink, which was only $3.50, since HE got everything wrong. He said no, he wouldnt. I told the manager/bartender he was losing a regular customer and that I will not be coming to this location again after this experience and they were unwilling to at least take a percentage off of my meal. He said, "OK, whatever" in response. I will never return thanks to him. This was my favorite Acapulco location too!! Before now I have only ever thought of them as 4+ stars, but after this visit, Id give a 0 stars if I could.

The place was not that busy . When a table of 8 came in , our waitress never came by again . We had to pay ,,, I dont know who. As for the food, the pop was Ok . I tried to eat my meal . It was just terrible, Dried out hamburger with some kind of seasoning wrapped in 2 tortilla shells covered with "Their special cheese sauce " that costs 1.50 extra . The lettuce was fresh . I did not say a word , just paid the bill of 32 dollars and change . Great meal to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. I promise we wont be back .

Great tasting food if they can get your order right. Especially if ordering takeout! Literally 8 out of 10 times our takeout order was wrong. We always get the fajitas but its not a fajita if they dont give you the toppings or the fajita wraps. 3 out of 10 times a whole entre was missing! If the food wasnt so good I wouldnt go back. It became a running joke. How many times in a row can they mess up our order. 8 was the lucky number.

Service was not great today. They seem to be overwhelmed with the above average amount of people here. Though it should be said, that they are no where near full. Chips lacked flavor, but the salsa was good and fresh. Lunch fajitas were generously portioned and the price is good for what you get, but they lacked flavor and were overall very bland. Typical Mexican American restaurant.

I love Acapulco, but this location deserves zero stars. Been here 4 times. Always terrible service, never crowded yet always slow, and incorrect orders. Last time I went, the drink order and the food order was wrong and the 2 tables next to us got the wrong orders as well. My food had a very big full tree leaf in it. The rice had corn and tomatoes in it, but my gfs rice didnt.

Outstanding food, and huge portions. Staff was friendly, helpful, and quite enjoyable to talk with. Was very pleasantly surprised to find such high quality Mexican dishes, so far from the border. The flavors were unique, without going to far. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant I have found in the Twin Cities. Atmosphere is casual, as is the dress.

Great food but inconsistent service. The food here is top notch for the price and not what you see on the typical Mexican restaurant menu. I love the brown sauce they put on the combination plates- not sure if its a mole of some sort or something else but its delicious. The service is good overall but inconsistent as they dont always know the menu well.

Went for a paint night, got there early an hour early for food. Our food came out 25 minute before the paint night started, and my friends came out 15 minutes before. No one refilled our water or offered to take new drink orders once paint night started. The quesadillas werent that great either.

If you know the hostess, youll be seated early.. no kidding, the entry is filled with people and the entire graduating class of 2012 walks in and is seated immediately. Tacos (on Monday nights) are under filled, and it takes forever to get a beer.. well go the extra mile to hit up Blaine.

I was so disappointed with the perfect margarita- it wasnt even good. Which wouldve been fine if the food was good- but it wasnt either. My grandma asked me what I thought the best part of the meal was. I was like......the chips and guacamole! Sad!

Awful, actually worse than awful. When we asked the waitress to replace the gooey mess of beans and some unknown food, she was resentful. We should apologize to Mexico for this insult. Never again.

Food was not good and was not authentic at all. They do not honor their ad prices. Way too much brown gravy used! Salsa is only canned tomatoes with nothing more added........not salas at all.

A good casual restaurant. Service is amazingly quick and friendly. Not authentic, but thats not what you are here for (and good luck finding that in MN burbs...). And the $4 beers are amazing.

Always offers great service with good food. Staff is awesome, and the beers are huge and affordable! One can pretty much walk in and get a table whenever, as opposed to a neighboring place...

Management must have changed. Food is much better than previous visits. We have visited twice now and the food was really good. And really good service. Waitresses are really nice.

They have great food but if your just picking food up that youve called in they almost always screw something up. Check your bag before you leave.
