This is the worst place ever!! THE food is so bad. They are so cheap with everything!!! They charge for everything!!!! SERIOUSLY IF I CAN TURN BACK TIME I WOULD NEVER STEP MY FOOT IN TO THAT PLACE. THE MANAGER IS THE WORST EVER. YOU WOULD EXPECT THE MANAGER TO BE NICER BUT INSTEAD THEY ARE WORST THAN THE SERVER. CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING $1.00 FOR 3 SOY SAUCE $2.25 FOR ONE CUP OF TEA! THEY DONT EVEN GIVE US NEW CHOP STICKS! DONT THEY KNOW WOOD HOLDS BACTERIA. I COULD OF SWORN THE MILK WE ORDERED WAS SPOILED. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR EXTRA RICE EVEN IF YOU HAVE TWO ENTRIES! HOW CHEAP CAN THEY GET!!???? DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR DONT GO HERE!!!! THEYRE PLUM SAUCE AND SWEET &SOUR SAUCE HAD BLACK STUFF IN IT. IT SEEMS LIKE SOMEONE ALREADY DIPPED INTO BEFORE ME...THATS SO NASTY... THE FRIED RICE WE ORDERED WAS SO HARD LIKE THEY COOKED IT FROM THREE DAYS AGO. THE CREAM CHEESE WAS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A NAIL.. I PAID ALMOST $5.00 FOR THIS AND THERE WAS BARELY NOTHING IN IT!!! IF THIS PLACE WAS THE LAST CHINESE RESTAURANT IN MINNESOTA, I STILL WOULDNT GO THERE. THERE ARE MANY BETTER CHINESE RESTAURANT OUT THERE LIKE MANDARIN KITCHEN, HONK KONG NOODLE, PEKING GARDEN, OR PAGODA!!

Bad food and very rude cashier. A friend and I ate here for lunch one day and though I knew from appearance alone it wasnt anything special, I didnt expect such a bad experience as I got. The food was really not very good, edible is about the best term I can give it. However, the worst part was after we had gone up to pay and proceeded to leave the cashier ACTUALLY flagged us down with an angry look on his face because I had not given him a tip on the bill!!!!! I had already left cash on the table even though the service was virtually non existant (we never had our glasses refilled once there). I could not believe this jerk had actually flagged me down because he thought I left no tip. Its gratuity, as in done out of kindness for good service. It is not required that I leave tip. I should have gone and recovered the cash I left on the table. SO UNBELIEVABLY RUDE!!!

I recently moved to Edina and this is the first Chinese place Ive ordered from up here. My girlfriend and I ordered takeout and our order consisted of the cream cheese puffs, beef lo mein, and BBQ pork lo mein. The cheese puffs were good - nothing amazing and inferior to Crabmeat (Krabmeat) Rangoons but still tasty. The pork lo mein was dry and bland with few small pieces of pork. The lo mein consists of noodles, peapods, onion, scallions, and your meat of choice. There is no egg, no bamboo shoots, nor any other vegetables that many Chinese places include in their lo mein. The beef lo mein was basically the same except it cost more AND had less pieces of beef Im giving this 3 stars because it is very mediocre but the portions are big. Its fairly expensive, too. However, if you like Chinese food I suggest you look elsewhere - I know I will be searching.

[Updated Dec 2014] This place recently changed ownership and now features not just traditional Chinese, but also Cambodian and Vietnamese items as well, as well as a very friendly staff. The menu is quite extensive with lots of things to choose from. Overall the food is quite tasty -- from soups and eggrolls to noodle dishes, rice dishes and more. Even the ultra tame lemon chicken has lemon sauce with real citrusy flavor that is so much better than most. If you havent been here in awhile, you should give it another try.

There arent many decent authentic Chinese restaurants near Southdale Mall. Red Pepper is close to Southdale Mall, convenient, and with good food. Food is as close to being authentic. Service is near authentic Chinese too; more perfunctory, meaning not overly friendly, not overly attentive. Overall Red Pepper is under rated and great value for money. When my autistic son and I have craving for Chinese in a quiet atmosphere, Red Pepper is our first choice.

The place has gone downhill, both food and service. We were one of two tables at lunchtime on a Saturday, felt as though we were a bother... 3 of us ordered hot tea, had to ask and then wait for re-fills on both our water and tea. When my chowmein arrived, it was lukewarm, asked our server ( after he finally made an appearance) if he could have it warmed up, bad move, he scowled and when he returned, the food was still luke warm. We will not be going back.

One word - terrible. After calling and making a delivery order we waited for an hour...nothing. We called them back just to check on the status of our order and the woman hung up on us...two times in a row!!! Then the manager got on the phone, we gave him our order again, he then told us they didnt have fried rice...even though its on the menu AND they dont deliver. Avoid this place!! Or at least dont get take out!!

I went to this place b/c the place I normally go to (Jun-Bo) was closed and b/c I really wanted some duck. I paid $28 for some duck and fried chicken and is was BY FAR the most disgusting, bland, dry, and just gross food Ive ever had. Nothing tasted normal, it was all fishy and just realllllly gross. DO NOTTTTTTT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ate here chriatmas day off the menu. Presentable dining room, clean but ratty menus. Extremely friendly staff even when another patron said something vaguely racist. Presentation was very nice. Mandarin Pork was quite good, but general tsos tasted like it was watered down with beef gravy. Fried dumplings and ginger sauce were the best Ive ever had. Its likely many of the items on this menu are delicious.

I became a regular at Red Pepper after my first visit, sometime less than a year ago. The Sesame Chicken is the best Ive ever eaten. I dont even look at the menu anymore. Its my usual. While the decor and ambiance is nothing to write home about, the quality and quantity of food that you get, for what you pay is unbeatable, especially at lunch time. Highly recommended!!

Had a Happenings coupon for buy 1 entree get 1 entree free, but thats only up to $7, which nothing is $7 on the dinner menu. Even with the $7 off, Id say this was too spendy for the quality of the food and service. Everything seemed to have a upcharge and we werent told until we got our bill. The food was OK, probably about a "3", price "2", upcharge "1".
