i am a very experienced downtown girl...and i love brothers! i am surprised to see how low the ratings are...yes i realize the service isnt great and its dirty, but seriously, what do you expect?? its downtown!!! and if you dont want to spend your whole paycheck in one night just for a cleaner & more upscale atmosphere with expensive drinks, brothers is the place to be. i love it because its bigger than most bars, its CHEAP, and there are other things to do besides either standing around or standing in line waiting for a drink. you can dance and play pool, darts, or foosball. i will say this-if you dont like being around college kids, dont come here. if you dont like being around sloppy drunk people, dont come here. but if thats the case, dont go downtown at all! obviously those people are going to rate it poorly. i like brothers better than most other bars i have been to (ESPECIALLY drink and sneaky petes-gross) and i always look forward to going! i have been there many times and never had any problems (except with service, but its cheap so i really dont care...beggars cant be choosers!)

Two things: I am WHITE, and I have a RELATIVE who works here -> so my opinion isnt just a disgruntled visitor. Brothers is racist by undeniable proof. I DO love the music, excellent daily drink specials, and atmosphere of this bar but I couldnt BELIEVE how they treated my black friend. Ive never had a problem before. Then I went with a white friend and a black friend. The bouncer wouldnt let us in because our pants were too baggy. (this is a bar with virtually no dress code) Our pants were not baggy at all (Im a straight white male and Id be wearing skinny jeans if they were any tighter) So we left, BUT 2 hours later I came back with my white friend. Same exact bouncer let us in without looking twice at us. I was shocked. Same night, same bouncer, SAME pants! Inside I noticed 2 other bouncers with pants more baggy than ours! wow... lawsuit.

Just wanted to let everyone know that if you were ever thinking of going to Brothers downtown (I get it, the drinks are cheap and there is NO line), I would urge you not to. Tonight we tried to get in past closing time, and instead of explaining to us that the bar was closed, the bouncers were aggressive and belligerent, yelling at us to get off of their stoop. When we stood on the corner of the street to discuss where to take the party next, one of the bouncers came out and started yelling at us again, eventually pushing one of the girls I was with. They were totally out of line, and the argument that ensued had to be broken up by cops who happened to be on the street. It was disgusting and stupid. There are plenty of bars downtown that are A) way better than Brothers and B) arent full of huge assholes. I will NEVER be returning.

Was turned away at the door at 8pm on what looked to be a slow night...The bouncer said they "dont allow tank tops", despite several people in the bar having take tops on. When I challenged him, he said..."After (looked at watch) 8pm". Clearly making up a rule. I was wearing an appropriate MN Twins tank top, and it was hot outside. This isnt an uppity club on south beach people!!! He didnt seem to have issue with my brother and sister-in-law, but seemingly targeted me. I would hate to think it is because Im gay (I suppose the tank top gave it away), but after reading other reviews, it seems like discriminatory practices are the norm here. Id suggest supporting the many other friendly, welcoming businesses just steps away!

Racist Staff and Bouncers. First off I couldnt even get past the front door, because I supposedly have a fake ID. The bouncer said "Not tonight Chief" (there I knew this was a place for Douche Bags. I said it was legit, he then called the cops over and said "heres another one!" The cops then said to the guy, "listen buddy you cant keep calling me over here everytime you think its fake!" I suppose this thing happens all the time. I said its my real ID and he can run it if he wants. The cop didnt even bother and gave it back to me and said to go to another bar. Which I did, so everyone should go to Drink across the street, so much better, I got in without an incident.

It’s Brothers of Minneapolis not only lacks service…. This is by far the most rotten, rancid, and urine smelling bar I have perpetually stepped foot it. I can’t imagine this bar has actually cleaned for largest part of this decade! I have only showed patronage two this bar one time and I was essentially told to leave this establishment, because I did not tip a sufficient amount. The last time I checked “The tipping procedures handbook” tipping was portrayed as a choice and not an obligation. I guess I should have been more appreciative of having to destroy my clothing by fire after leaving “It’s Brothers” of Minneapolis Mn

Ordered our drinks.during happy hour. All four of our drinks were watered down. Went in to ask bartender, TRAVIS, for an unwatered down drink, and he made a joke of me. He takes a straw-full of my drink and says, "this has alcohol in it" to his buddies at the end of the bar. Then he tries the 2nd drink, and does it again. This is one of those fine establishments that brings you both drinks at the same time for "Two for one". He almost ruined our night, until we had our order cancelled and went down to "Masons" Dont go here, unless you are Travis friends or you just want beer. Travis cannot make a cocktail.

I was visiting from out of country and our hotel was in the St. Louis area. It was following a hockey game, and I was ejected for enjoying maybe one too many adult beverages. My fault, but I was not allowed to go back in to tell anyone what had happened. No cell phone, 21 year old girl left on the street on a Saturday night. I thought that was pretty disrespectful and they had no concern for my safety. I understand liquor laws and the man was just doing his job. But not applying common sense at all. Dont leave a girl hanging. Very scary experience, so ONE STAR FOR YOU, BROTHERS BAR & GRILL!!

I felt disgusted last night with one of the bouncers. The bar doesnt deserve any stars to begin with. My boyfriend was discriminated because he was Asian. He wasnt allowed in because he had joggers on but a Caucasian who had khaki shorts on was allowed in. The bouncer whispered, "Give me $10 bucks and Ill let you in." Disrespectful! We were there the night before and the weekend before, and my boyfriend wore joggers and it was perfectly fine. Brothers Bar need to train their employees to be more professional because they will lose customers with rude and unprofessional employees.

Great happy hour prices. Good food. Im not speaking of the nighttime party bar after 9pm, rather the Bar/Restaurant for tasty, easy dinners with a beer or for before sporting events. It is a little odd that they ID at the door almost always, but understandable. The staff is hit or miss. Mostly great and attentive, but there are a few bad apples. Let me say i love the food. I have yet to try something that wasnt delicious.
