Since this is a neighbor of ours, we try to eat/shop local and usually this wins as out weekend lunch bakery. I have to say that today I was disappointed not only in the service, but also the preparation and quality of the food we ordered out. Coming from a person who works in the restaurant industry, as well as customer service, a smile goes a long way! The girl at the register was very unpleasant and pushy. When we opened the salads we ordered, one was missing croutons- When i asked about them i was told "that salad doesnt come with them." Said salad was a Caesar- all Caesars come with croutons- as stated on the menu. The spinach salad looked better, but upon trying to consume it I realized the stems were uncut & inedible, mostly still dirty at the base. Some of the Spinach was slimy and wilted. Needless to say we will be buying our pricey salad elsewhere.

My husband and I just happened to stop here for dinner last night and boy, were we impressed! My husband ordered the club sandwich and I got the turkey with provolone. The sandwiches were very decently sized, and came with home-made chips and a dill pickle slice. My husband, who is kind of difficult to please, was actually raving about his sandwich. The bread was fresh and delicious; crispy crust and soft middle. The chips were addictive...crunchy and salty and everything youd want from a potato chip. :) We also ordered a oatmeal raisin cookie which my husband hailed as the best cookie hes ever eaten...Im still shaking my head over that since I make really excellent cookies. ;) Its definitely a casual cafe...but such a cute little place to go if youre in the mood for a salad, soup, or salad. We live all the way across town, but well definitely go there again.

I know its heretical to give Wealthy Bakery a bad or even mediocre review, but Ive been a regular since 2005 so I feel my critique is valid. In my opinion, their quality has noticeably suffered in the past year or so. I used to live only a few blocks away and this place was my staple for lunch and more than a few dinners as well. The sandwiches, which used to be substantial and good enough to tolerate the expense, are now meager with ingredients that taste old. The pickles are definitely from a lower quality vendor and the chips often taste old. Their lattes, which I often raved about to friends, are now weak and unpalatable. Ive always thought the service was good however and I was on a first name basis with many of the staff. Theyre a friendly group but I probably wont be going back. Nantucket Bakery has surpassed them hands down.

Excellent service. The folks behind the counter always appear to be moving their butts off, cleaning tables, taking dirty dishes back, putting breads on the shelf, and cleaning the pastry counter. Somehow they manage to do all this while helping every customer as fast as they come in the door. I always appreciate good service, and its nice to be known by my first name, which many of them do. Aside from the good experience, their bread is consistently tasty, hearty, and they usually have a good variety by the time I come in. Their pastries are far better than any bakery Ive been to, WAY better than Nantucket Bakerys. Great coffee from Intelligentsia, decent espresso, filling sandwiches, and their pizzas rock. This is a great bakery, I suggest arriving during slow hours, like before lunch and before dinner.

The quality of their products has gone up and down a bit over the last few years. Overall I would say they are trying to save money on the cost of the products they produce, so some of their food is smaller and of lower quality than it was. In general however, I like what the business and buy quite a few things there. My biggest problem with going to that bakery is that the people who wait on you - - while always being polite and welcoming--I do you do not listen carefully. Many, many times I have received the wrong order and didnt discover it until I got home. This is not just a few times. It happens as very, very often. I would actually give them 3.5" stars.

I do not live near Grand Rapids but needed a bakery to delivery pastries and fresh fruit at a function this past week. I searched and found the Wealthy Street Bakery website and decided to give them a try. The fresh pastries and fruit were delivered promptly (exactly as requested) and they were wonderful. I have since visited the bakery for lunch with my husband, and our sandwiches and salads were excellent. Service was also very good. I would highly recommend the Wealthy Street Bakery for fantastic pastries, sandwiches, and salads. Next trip I look forward to going back and checking out their pizza!

Showed up at 7:40 and we got our food at 8:40 pm. We had one couple in front of us who got their food 20 minutes before we did, but had placed their order one minute before us. While we were waiting another lady placed her order and then was comped with a free cinnamon roll for the wait while we barley had time to eat our food before they closed. We were not comped or told sorry for the wait. My food was Ok, I had the buffalo calazone and my gf had the braised beef sandwich, which was all bun and no meat. I have been here many times and will not be returing, what a shame!!

Stopped in for coffee and a morning snack. Friendly and welcoming staff backed up by good coffee, nice range of baked goods, and a pleasant gluten free (GF) selection. GF offerings are always a roll of the dice, but the Wealthy Street Bakery did not disappoint. The Lemon Poppyseed muffin was "ok" but the GF cinnamon roll was second to none. Ive been GF for 6+ years and a cinnamon roll fan. GF cinnamon rolls are not easy to come by, and are generally a disappointment. Not so at The Wealthy Street Bakery. Best Ive had, and better than some non-gf versions. Magic.

I agree with Horrible Service. I bought one cookie and one scone at a price for around $4.00 and was told if I wanted a togo cup for water it would cost me 58 cents. Talk about rude service. They need a new paper distributor if they are spending that kind of money on their paper products. I can go to McDonalds and buy a 99 cent burger and they will give me a FREE glass of ICE Water.

Called early to see what soups were. I was told broccoli and cheese along with Italian Wedding. No broccoli and cheese before 1 p.m. and no chicken chili left. Terrible cold today and very poor management. Lunch hour not even over and one soup to choose from.
