Drove by this restaurant on Saturday before attending a wedding in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday evening. After checking the reviews here, I suggested this place to a number of people for Sunday breakfast. Most everyone was happy with their food but the waitress and / or cook got my order wrong. I ordered a "West German" omelet and received a Western omelet. After telling the waitress, she apologized and disappeared to rectify things. I ate my 2 slices of toast (the jam was good) until she returned. When she did, my plate had no toast. Her explanation was that I had already received my toast. I countered by stating that I had been eating it while waiting for my food to be properly prepared! She finally went to the kitchen and brought me another piece of toast to eat with my meal. Unfortunately, after taking several bites of my new omelet, I noticed one of the standard ingredients (hash browns, inside) was missing. At this point everyone else had finished eating. When I pointed this latest mistake out to the waitress, she at least asked me if I wanted something else or a new omelet. I told her no, I was frustrated and done. And yes, Ill admit, Im sure some of the other diners next to our table heard me complain. Finally, a few minutes later the manager (owner?) appeared. He approached our table asking if there was a problem. Of course everyone pointed him in my direction. When I showed him my omelet, he confirmed there were indeed no hash browns inside as the menu stated there should be, muttered "sorry" and walked away. That was it! I, and the rest of people at the table sat in amazement as we watched him walk away in silence! Upon leaving I asked to speak with this manager / owner again and told him that I found it very rude that he had not offered to make things right or take my item off of our bill (they had done so but we had to look at the bill after the fact). I also told him I was the one that had brought along 11 other people to eat at their restaurant. His response was that he knew I was upset and didnt want to say anything to upset me further. I see... Now it is the customers fault that he was rude and didnt handle the situation appropriately! Really? I wish I could use that tactic on my clients! Heck, nothing would ever be my fault! I felt I had a right to be upset. I had a 2 hour drive coming up and hadnt eaten anything except 1 slice of toast with jam and a cup of coffee. And how hard is it to get a standard omelet order right? Sorry, but the service here was atrocious (at least the waitress tried) and the Manager / Owner needs to grow a spine and learn how to make his customers happy. I will never recommend this place to anyone ever again!

This place is great. Just moved to the Grand Rapids area and found this place for breakfast. The staff was very nice and the atmosphere was lovely. The orange juice was definitely homeade and fresh squeezed. They also provide coffee drinkers with a carafe at the table. They provide many options for bread with your meal including English muffin toast or a bagel. I ordered the inferno omelette which was chock full of jalapenos and habenero peppers. Unlike every other "spicey" meal Ive ordered in this area, this one was actually HOT. It had an initial kick that had me asking me for a glass of water. It was a delicious combination of spicey peppers, green and red peppers, onions, and hash browns wrapped around the omelette shell. Overall, I was extremely pleased and will be going back any chance I get. Highly recommend!

The wait was expectedly long, as it was Sunday morning, but well worth it and was very bearable due to the nice weather allowing our group to wait outside. Service was polite and knowledgeable. They didnt keep us waiting too long nor did they rush us out even though wait times were around 30 minutes for a table of 3. A large sized plate of French toast (4 slices) with banana and Fosters sauce, French press coffee, and tip was under $20, most other items on the menu with normal coffee would be closer to $15. I could only finish 3 slices of the delicious French toast; though I wish I had room for the whole plate, and the coffee was enjoyable. I absolutely recommend giving The Omelette Shoppe a try. Im sure Ill come back again.

Sat for 15 minutes with no one coming by to take drink order (we had more people coming, but at least get us drinks!). Ordered a French press and it was tap water warm when it arrived 10 minutes later. Another person in our group ordered one as well and it was the same. Hubby enjoyed the fresh squeezed oj. Traditional eggs benedict had little to be desired, muffin was mush and poached eggs were hard poached. Ordered a cinnamon roll to go and they poured the glaze over the hot roll and it created a sticky mess with zero glaze left on the roll (it all ended up in the bag, which I held the whole way home). Many better breakfast places than this in town!

It took 30 minutes for our food to come and when it did the "tomato basil soup," was ice cold and wasnt at all like traditional tomato soup. It had chunks of celery and potato and it wasnt even red. I ordered the pancakes with strawberry cream cheese and whipped cream, and the cream cheese tasted like it had no sugar, almost like sour cream. Where we were sitting was also right next to where the construction was going on at the time and the only thing separating us from the outdoors was a thin wooden plank and it was very cold. I will never recommend this restaurant or ever eat there again.

Good breakfast, though we ordered after most people had started lunch. Waited about 25 minutes for a table for two on a Sunday afternoon at about 12:30. The had several large groups ahead of us and seated them appropriately in order - no issue with that. Server was prompt and friendly, coffee was hot and she left the carafe at our table. We enjoyed the omelets and the pecan cherry toast. Definitely a do over. Will try Saturday about 0700 sometime and see how it goes. Price was a little on the high side but not outside my expectations. 4.5 stars if you could do that!!!

Food comes out and Id be damned a hardy portion of food that i knew was going to have to be taken home! It was filling had flavor really hit the spot! I forgot at that point about waiting. 4 stars because the wait, Over all good eats

Great breakfast, great service! My server was very pleasant at the fact I had no idea how they made their corn beef hash. She was very sweet & let me get something else Im sure people would like it but I guess I like the crap you get in a can. But anyways I switched to the eggs benne WOW one of my favorites by far! The homemade sauce makes it great. Also grab some fresh squeezed OJ so fresh so delicious :)
