My wife, daughter and I enjoyed breakfast twice at Sundance during a recent five day trip to Grand Rapids. Sundance was among a short list recommended by the Amway Hotel, and it was close by so we checked it out. It was a Sunday morning, and we were told the wait was half an hour. It was crazy busy, with people constantly coming in to get on the list. We did wait, and glad we did. The menu is primarily American Mexican, with a surprisingly good variety. A pot of coffee is delivered to the table if you order it. First visit I very much enjoyed the "Albuquerque Omelette: Chorizo, jalapenos, black beans, green chilies, diced onions and melted monterey jack & cheddar cheese. Topped with salsa, sour cream, and scallions". I make omelettes at home all the time and I usually try to select things I cant or dont make at home. This selection did not disappoint. It was high quality, great flavor. It was served with the largest, softest and most delicious English Muffin Ive ever had. My wife enjoyed the unique Breakfast Nachos: "Homemade crisp tortilla chips topped with scrambled eggs, chorizo, sauteed green peppers, onions, diced tomatoes and melted colby cheese. Served with side of salsa." Again, very unique dish that Ive not seen before, and much enjoyed. My daughter had the kid pancakes, which were of excellent size and good quality. During our second visit, this time Thursday morning, there was no line for breakfast but it was busy. We ordered the Giant Cinnamon Roll as appetizer, and it was indeed the largest cinnamon roll Ive had at a restaurant. Good as well. For second trip I had the Huevos Rancheros, which were quite good. The English Muffin was so good the first time I had to order it again as a special side. My wife ordered the Chile Rellenos, which is her favorite mexican dish. She thought it was the most unique take on the Rellenos, and one of the best shes had. Our daughter had the bacon and eggs. While not "one of the best meals Ive ever had", the meals were excellent. This is a place I would definitely suggest to friends and family and wish some place like it were closer to where we live!

Looking forward to a nice meal before our evenings festivities and shenanigans, we came across Sundance in the mid-afterboon. Only seating available when we arrived was a high top table, and we preferred a booth. Was told there would be a little wait for a booth. No problem, which it was not. Less than 2 minutes and we were seated. The greeting staffer had even stated that "they" wanted us to have a good experience. That wish of a good experience disappeared, shortly after we were seated. A group of 6 was seated a minute or two after us. One of the wait staff wasted no time in taking their drink orders and food orders. (Appeared to be 3 wait staff to cover 11 tables, in our area) With that we felt totally ignored, so much so that even the family at the next table noticed. The nice gentleman from that family also noticed us, trying to get the attention of one of staff, that we were trying to wave down. Turned out that person was part of the bus staff, but was going alert someone we were waiting... More time passed and the group of 6 had there food being delivered... It was only then one of the wait staff came over to take our drink order. We expressed our wait and that we were seated ahead of the other party of 6. While a quick apology was offered, no other acknowledgement of our inconvenience was given. wow.... Food was good, but not worth the lack of good service. To further our sour our experience was the added charge to our parking cost, incurred from the additional wait time at Sundance for crappy service. :(

I went for dinner at 7 pm on a Thursday with my 5 year old son and mom after a show downtown. We were seated right away but didnt see a waitress for 15 minutes. There were dirty tables EVERYWHERE and only 2 people working the entire floor. We ordered food and drinks as soon as our waitress came over, 20 minutes later we still didnt have our drinks and my son was getting tired. I had to walk around and find the waitress to ask how long our food would be (since everything was taking FOREVER) She gave us a very vague answer and wouldnt say more. We decided to leave and find a more suitable place with more than 1 server. We walked by the bar and the person who sat us was making drinks and asked what was wrong, we told her everything was taking too long and she said "oh, i have your drinks right here" BS. She had 2 beers in her hand and we ordered wine and a cocktail. She came around the bar followed us to the door, saying she was the manager and asking what she could do to make us stay. We told her there was nothing and we just wanted to leave. She continued following us out the door offering gift cards and saying our food would be out in 5 minutes. We kept saying no, we werent going back in there so she just rolled her eyes, said something rude under her breath and walked away. If thats the kind of manager they have at that establishment then no wonder the servers dont know what theyre doing. She was rude and pushy. Overall the entire experience was horrible and i wouldnt recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.

Would NOT recommend this place to anyone! They service was not good at all. I asked for my drink chilled not on ice and asked for a water at his first visit to our table. We did not get our waters till about his 8th trip back to our table. My boyfriend asked for a Budweiser bottle. He came back with a Bud light bottle. Our queso we started with was way to thick and not creamy at all. I ordered chicken tacos and they were alright, nothing special. My boyfriend had the steak burrito. He was not impressed as it was pretty much half sour cream and he dug out the steak meat and just ate that. For being in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids I hoped for a WAY better experience! Its sad that these servers have so much opportunity to make great money with all the events that GR holds and that is the kind of service being given. Our waiters name was Simon.

I took 11 ladies here March 11th. We were staying at the hotel and thought it would be nice to not venture out while drinking. The service was slow. We were on 1 check so I was surprised it took so long. We started with appetizers. The queso had been sitting so long it had a skin on the top. The people who had salads were happy. The wet burrito got no complaints. The fajitas and enchiladas were disgusting. Cold over cooked steak. I had one bite and that was it. My sister took it home to her dog. The place was not busy at all. I wish we would have just eaten appetizers in the suites. I would not recommend. There are so many great eateries downtown eating here was a mistake. On the bright side, the wine pours are huge.

Me and my wife went there 75-90 minutes before a show for our dine & date night. Our waitress was amazing. However, we ended up waiting over an hour for our food with no explanation. I had the breakfast nachos and my wife had a wrap (nothing removed or added). We had to get it to go. The manager did give a 50% discount for our meals. The few bites I had before we left was good. From the looks of it, we were not the only ones who waited and we heard them discussing a dine and ditch. I would have rated it lower, but our waitress was really good given the situation (even gave us free chips and salsa for the wait). I would only recommend this restaurant if you get there really early and dont mind a long wait.
