I had the best experience having my birthday party at El Rancho tonight. The waitresses did a great job on keeping up with all of the orders. The food was served fresh and fast and everything was just the way it was ordered. Not one mistake. The tables and chairs were set up in a way where we all could see each other and have conversations easily. This was a huge party of over 50 people who were all satisfied by the service and delicious food they received. I will definitely recommend this restaurant for its delicious food but also for parties. The waitresses made it look so easy. I will definitely be back.

My husband and I have been coming here on an off for years. Todays visit left us pleasantly surprised. The waitress was professional. We both ordered the Carne Asada dinner $10.99, the steak was sliced thin, but a good size, tasty, tender. The beans and rice very flavorful. We had the large guacamole pricey but very fresh and since I love Avocados it was worth it. Of the two salsas the spicey seemed more authentic. My only two concerns, I would like more, onions and bell peppers on my steak, the corn tortillas were not soft or tasty. Otherwise for the money it was worthwhile.

Been a few years since I was able to get back to this great eating spot making wonder why Ive not be a regular. The favorite Mexican dish of mine is very hard to find other then a few folks on my block that make me some every year. The dish Chicken Mole is a super moist tender chicken leg and thigh doused with the most flavorful amazing sauce ever. Three states in Mexico claim to be the origin of mole, Puebla, Oaxaca and Tlaxcala. The states with the best known moles are Puebla and Oaxaca, but other regions in Mexico also make various types of mole sauces

Been going here for like 7 years now.. Im a true lover of Mexicali food.. my Mexican pallet isnt that diverse. Mainly a burrito l nachos taco type of guy.. but, not being from here, and really needing my Mexican fix. the place I figured I would get as close to authenticate as possible, in a city where Coneys are the thing.. would be southwest. How I ended up at El rancho was just a leap of faith, and Im glued.. great service, great food. Nice atmosphere, and then theres the margaritas.. perfect for. Would definitely recommend

Came to eat and relax ...instead I was angry and aggravated. My order was taken by one waitress supposedly but more then 30 minutes went by still no food. The waitress , 3 of them and the acting manager just stood around talking not once did anyone made any attempt to check on our order. About 10 min. later one finally spoke up only to inform us that our waitress left and that our order was never placed. Waited another 15 min., Never again

I dont know what some of these people are talking about. El Rancho is by far the best Mexican restaurant in Detroit for sure. The food and staff is beyond fantastic and El Rancho is one of the cleanest places I have been for dining. I have been going for years, mind you I live 35 minutes away but refuse to eat Mexican food anywhere else but El Rancho. I go at least once a week because I just cant stay away.

Didnt even get the opportunity to taste food. Im rating the service, walked it the cashier was friendly but our waiter was horrible. We sat down got drinks in 20 minutes later she had not come back... I looked around she was talking to her friend. The friend signaled I was called her she looked my direction and proceeded to keep talking to her friend. We got up and walked out!

Mine and my husbands fave place to eat. Very friendly people. Excellent food, prices. Very clean. They have some american food, a bar for drinks and tasty desserts. Have to visit there, Highly recommend. Weve been going there for 15 yrs and there sister restaurant in Fremont, Ohio. Also called El Rancho, family owned.

Would give it 3.7 if I could. Good, but not spectacular food (took a little longer than it should have to arrive), then they CRANKED up the air-conditioner until it was ridiculously cold and started playing r&b :( not cool. Thus place is usually pretty good.

Clearly the best restaurant in southwest, scratch that, best authentic Mexican restaurant in Michigan. Best staff, always smiling and friendly. Breakfast specials make me wanna be a morning person!! But I recommend the steak milanesa ranchera!!

Great family atmosphere. Awesome service. Try their aqua frescas on a hot summer day. Or one or two of their delicious mixed drinks. I cant decide which is my favorite. Their fried fish or the chicken tacos.

One of the owners recently passed away and I felt the loss through the employees even when they had a smile on their faces. Food wise, I asked for an adjustment to the dish I selected and they accommodated me.

Chicago may be the best place for Mexican food in the midwest, but El Rancho is certainly the best one in Detroit. Great food and atmosphere. Off the beaten path, but that may be why they are so authentic!

Fast service. Authentic Mexican. Full bar. Heart of Mexican Town. Super friendly. You pretty much cant go wrong. The small nachos (whatever variety) is practically an entrée for two.
