I read a lot of reviews, both good and bad. With so many giving Mexican Fiesta four or five stars and liking the food and wait staff so much, I conclude that some folks are just plain unlucky with their wait staff or, could it be, bring the rudness out in people because they are rude and demanding? This was the first time my wife and I ate here. Yes, Ive eaten in Mexicantown several times and like the food there very much. The Mexican Fiesta has been "Americanized" to some degree, but a lot of their dishes are truly Mexican style. Not really authentic? As someone who lived in Guadalajara Mexico for four and a half years, let me tell you, I have rarely found a restaurant that serves truly authentic Mexican food. And the reason for that? Even if the recipes are identical to those found in Mexico, the ingredients dont come from Mexico. Believe me it does make a difference. And I have yet to find a restaurant north of the border where there is someone making corn meal dough on a metate, pinching off just the right amount, and shaping the tacos by slapping the dough back and forth between their hands then placing the flattened dough on a grill and cooking them to perfection. Thats how they were made at Cuates Rosas where I ate frequently. Now that was authentic Mexican food! I had the steak fajitas and my wife had the chimichanga. No cole slaw with either meal. The steak was lean and tender and tasty. It came with guacamole, rice, frijoles refritos and lettuce with shredded cheese and sour cream in containers on the side. The steak was cooked with bell peppers, tomatoes, onions and mushrooms. I dont think I ever ate this recipe for fajitas in Mexico, but it tasted great.all the same. My wife liked the chimichanga very much. The portions were almost too much; we both brought some food home in containers. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She made sure our drinks were refilled several times. We didnt have alcoholic beveredges, so I cant comment on the quality of the margaritas. They have a good selection of Mexican and domestic beers. After our order was taken, we didnt wait very long for our food to be served. The prices were very reasonable. Since this restaurant is much closer to us than Mexicantown, it is very likely well eat here again before trekking to Mexicantown. I like it that they stay open so late on the weekends (midnight) and close at 11 during the week. I recommend this place wholeheartedly. I also recommend that you dont walk in with preconcieved ideas of what "Mexican food" is and just enjoy it because it tastes so good.

Nothing special is the best way to describe this restaurant. The food was rather bland, but the chips and salsa were slightly better than average. What we found upsetting was that cole slaw is served with dinners and not beans. You can ask that beans be substituted, if you are aware of this. Our waitress didnt tip us off to this and we didnt see on the menu that slaw was being served. Naturally, the liquid from the slaw bleed over and ruined our other food. While paying my bill, I briefly talked to the manager about why they served cole slaw and I suggested that they at least put it in a small bowl to separate it from the other food on the plate. To my surprise, he got very defensive. In a huff, he went on how "everyone loves the slaw and that hes never had a complaint". I tried to be constructive and suggested that they put the slaw in a small bowl, on the plate, so the liquid does not bleed into the other food items. I also asked why they didnt serve more traditional sides like beans. As I put it, "my history may be rusty, but I dont recall cole slaw being part of Mexican culture". Again, he was defensive saying we could have substituted beans. This being our first (and last) time eating here, we were not aware of this quirk and I suggested the wait staff ask if customers have ever eaten there before or if they would like to substitute slaw for beans. In the end, the manager left a very negative impression on my wife and I. Add to that food that is only fair and you can see why I do not recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I went to the newer Fiesta of Hartland-every aspect of the experience was unbelievably horrible. When we arrived last sunday afternoon, the floor was filthy full of pieces of napkins and straws and there was no effort to clean it up. Instead of what I would have expected, Mexican music, they played a disgusting and offending array of kid rock and hillybilly play lists. We ordered premium Don Julio margaritas, paying over $30 for just two drinks and we requested no sweet and sour- what we got was a kool-aid looking mixture, with very little tequila, with sweet and sour and..POP!!!, We sent them back and sipped on instead same priced, no alcohol detected orange juicy tequila sunrise..which I ended up leaving half full. For the meal we ate super tostadas- nothing super about them, the chicken was salty, salty, salty...did I mention salty? And the salsa looked like and tasted like gooey thick Chinese sweet and sour sauce. The patrons looked like a scene out of the movie "Roadhouse"- TERRIBLE dining experience..although most people know the best Mexican is downtown Detroit, a few minute drive south to Border Cantina-offers made to order- AMAZING margaritas, decent food (which tastes better with the margaritas) and a wonderful Mexican manager named Ray- who personally comes and thanks us for dining when we go.....plus, for the amount of money we spent at Fiesta, could have fed our family of five instead of just my husband and I...still upset about it four days later!

Im starting this out by saying Im not from around here. Yesterday night I went to Tijuanas and my mind was BLOWN. Fantastic food. I was in the mood again for Mexican food again tonight so I found myself here, just to try it out. I do not recommend. The building itself was cool. Very festive. But the food was terrible! The salsa was boring and bland. Yes, my chips were hot. Then came out my beef and cheese enchiladas, beans, and rice. Bland beyond belief rice. Horrible. The enchiladas were so greasy it was pooling on the plate. I took a bite, and I kid you not, I contemplated leaving. It was horrible. I am not a complainer. I hate complaining because I feel like an inconvenience, but I promise I would have paid for it and went to the nearest trash can. So I asked for something different. Chicken and cheese burritos. Same boring rice on the side. The chicken again was so greasy I took a picture of it. I asked for a box to go, paid for my meal, and left. Im honestly contemplating throwing it away, but I cant justify paying ten dollars for something that will end up in the garbage. But it was so bad I still might toss it. Sorry to the people that like Mexican Fiesta, I do not mean to be rude, this is honestly my first review. Ive never felt the need to make one before this. But I will never go there again. Compared to the meal I had last night at Tijuanas, this place was a JOKE.

TERRIBLE Customer Service From Owner. Today I ordered take out for my lunch ( Chicken Nacho) and i specifically asked if there were green peppers on it. Girl taking order said no just regular onions. I said great so I ordered. Got back to my desk at work opened and to my surprise there were green peppers on it. Drove back and owner was working cash register, so i explained to him im highly allergic to green peppers and asked why i was told there was none on a chicken nacho. He said what do you want me to do, the girl taking orders dont no all of our menu. He said all of our items have green peppers. I just asked for a $11.00 refund and he wanted to argue right in front of his lunch crowd. (highly unprofessional) and said no I should of known. Told him im not leaving until I get a refund. After waiting and listening to him carry on I finally received my $11.00 In closing I can say I will never go back, and for the owner, not a counter girl, or manage to treat a valued customer with so much disrespect, is unacceptable. I will tell every here at my job, and any other person not to every go there.
