Stopped by for take out for my wifes birthday. I purchased the largest boat they had, so that there would be a great assortment for her to chose from. The largest boat came with Nagiri, sashimi and two rolls of the chefs choosing. I asked, and I am not making this up, six times that they substitute the sashimi for more nagiri or more rolls...their choice. They said it would not be a problem. In addition to this request, the girl behind the counter tried to sell me an additional soup and salad, but the boat was a boat for two. I asked her as well to check on that. I left, went to Publix for a cake and a bottle of wine, and returned. I waited an additional 30 minutes, and the bags came out to me stapled shut. Assuming that after six requests, they would have MADE SURE the order was correct, I get home to get one VERY small salad and a tray of sashimi. I was floored. I spent $75.00 as I even tipped the girl. I called the restaurant and spoke to the other girl that was there, the one "training" my server. She remembered my six requests. She offered me to drive all the way back to the restaurant to "exchange" the food. I told her that I live too far for that AND make this a special birthday for my wife. She said she was sorry. I asked if there was any discount or coupon they could give me, she said "Im sorry". I asked her if that was the best she could come up with on the phone, again, "Im sorry". I hung up the phone very upset. As we ate the meal, we noticed that the sushi pieces were extremely small as well. I should have known, being a King House chain, that the food would have been of poor quality. I will never eat at one of their restaurants again.

Great place, but is in serious need of server training. I took my wife out on a date last night because we both enjoy sushi quite a bit. We had heard nothing but great things about the place, so obviously our first choice of a sushi restaurant was Kiku. As we walked in we stood there waiting for someone to notice. stood there 5 minutes (give or take) we decide to seat ourselves... After 10 minutes (approximately) Someone greeted us and gave us menus... Now, im not one to complain, they seemed busy, and my wife and I were enjoying each others company...but here is what truly bothered me... Our waitress didnt know her wines, when we finally ordered our wine (Cabernet Sauvignon), we received a Merlot, not only did we not get the correct wine, but the bottle was already open when it reached the table... When we ordered our appetizer (miso soup) it took her 10 minutes to bring out my wifes, and 15 to bring out mine... when we gave her our Sushi order, she walked away before we were finished and didnt write anything down...so naturally she had to walk back and ask us again what we had ordered... Sushi took 45 minutes to come out... For a nicer restaurant, they sure know jack crap about fine service...other than that, sushi was adequate, the Merlot was decently priced for the brand, Miso soup is highly recommended if you ever go...

One of Tallahassees BEST sushi, nigiri, sashimi bars - bar none. Rationale? Theyve always had fresh sea urchin (uni) when Ive visited. I even do the "visit Tuesday" test to verify. Today was no exception. My friend Ernie treated me to a VERY generous birthday lunch at kikus. He had a couple of sushi rolls in addition to sashimi conch and seaweed salad. To boot, he also had his first taste of uni with quail egg topper. I had (heres where I break out over-the-top (yet apropos) vocabulary) a most splendid lineup of conch, sea clam and octopus sashimi, a spicy tuna hand roll, the pair of uni /quail egg nigiri all following the de rigueur miso bowl. Admittedly, the hand roll is really the only display of talent here, other than the miso soup. I mean that these two items require assembly/construction. Everything else simply requires a regular purveyance of fresh, high quality product. Sure, there is clearly talent in forming the rice and wrapping the seaweed but the freshness factor is paramount. I digress. Bottom line: Depend on kiku as a premier TLH sushi bar. Its true.

Kiku suffers at the hands of its owner and general manager, Michael Wang. My brother and I ate here today and there was a long hair in my hibachi chicken meal. I discreetly let the server know of this issue and she took the plate back. About 30 mintues later I received my new meal, seemingly "hair free". When I received my bill, I noticed that I was charged the full price for my hibachi chicken. I asked to speak to the manager and he told me, "Things like this happen here all the time." How disgusting for the manager to admit that they have poor hygiene practices. Also, he refused to comp my meal and instead offered me a $7.50 gift certificate, 25% of my overall purchase for this meal. He was very rude and argumentative over a self-admitted reoccuring problem. If you want quality Japanese food in Tallahassee please try Osaka or Jasmine Cafe. They treat their customers with the respect and dignity they deserve. Ive also never received a hairy dish from them.

Its pretty, its cool, its dark, its quiet even with the tvs, its serene and the bathroom is so fresh smelling and luxurious. A couple of times the girls gotten my order wrong because she didnt write it down and not sure how good her English was but the servers turnover a lot so thats not an ongoing problem. This is another reason I had more eating out money, I would be here every week. I find it a challenge to park there sometimes and I often time it to go after lunch rush and before the dinner crowd. The girls are always friendly at the door and the cook dudes in the back do a good job of boxing up my to go part...I eat my salad and soup and sushi there and often get me a dinner sized one to go to feed my husband and I at a later time. I have never left mad and they do really good service and the sushi dudes are awesome and polite and make wonderful tasting stuff.

We just tried Kiku for dinner while on vacation. It was one of the best sushi experiences we have ever had. First off, the restaurant has great atmosphere. The lighting is perfect, and you get to watch the sushi chefs in the back of the restaurant. The tables are lovely as well. Our server was extremely sweet, efficient, and accomodating. We had the crazy maki rolls. They were specialty rolls, and we would HIGHLY recommend them. They literally melted in your mouth. Theyre also running a special. When you buy one order of chefs specialty rolls, you get an order of the simpler rolls for free. My Husband and I were reasonably full on the one order of sushi rolls and the order of free rolls. We also got the tempura ice cream with red bean ice cream. Absolutely delicious. You must give Kiku a try. You wont be disappointed.

They trick you with the buy one get one special but when you get your bill, it turns out you really didnt save much. I have been to pretty much all the sushi places in town and this one is definitely not on the top of my list. Because their quality is just ok, service is nothing great and the value is horrible. They dont give you enough for the price you pay. That was my biggest problem. Overall my opinion on this place is that its just average, nothing stand out. I read some of the previous reviews and wonder if those people and I were even reviewing the same restaurant? Lol. Theres better sushi in town. Try sakura or masa. This place was like a little better version of Mr robotos.
