I was a fairly regular customer at the Westside Grill - hey, decent burgers, Leinenkugel on tap, and decent nachos. Unfortunately, that relationship ended tonight, and most likely irrevocably. When we sat our party of 9 in the side room, the waitress was handing out tableware. I pointed out that the knife I had been handed felt greasy. Ordering time came, and I ordered my regular - a 1/2 pound burger with cheddar and bacon, cooked to a medium rare. When the burger arrived, along with the rest of my partys food, I took a bite of the burger - a burger I normally eat exactly as its placed in front of me. The first bite was charred and dry. I put ketchup on the burger for some moisture and took a second bite. It was also charred and very, very overcooked. Normally this isnt the end of the world. I informed the waitress that the burger tasted well done, and was dry and that I had ordered medium. She asked if Id like a replacement, and I indicated that I did not due to the fact that I had four small children with me who were already at the end of their patience. The appetizers were fine, and I wasnt starving, and even though I would have liked another replacement burger my schedule wouldnt allow it. A few moments later, a 20-something male with a hat and bead necklace on approached the table and stated, in a rather challenging manner, "I hear you have a problem with the food." I replied that my burger was well done and dry, and I had ordered medium, and that I had decided that rather than have them cook another one, I was going to pass on the burger. He said, "The burger was pink, it wasnt well done." I said that it sure tasted well done, and in the dim light it sure looked gray, and was pretty flavorless. He told me that it was pink once again. When the bill arrived, the burger was still on it. The same 20-something man *was* the manager (who also identified himself as the son of the owners - so this is more than a manager, this is a stakeholder in the business). I asked if he was certain that he wanted to leave the burger on the bill. He indicated that he was not going to remove it from the bill, that the burger was fine, and that it was clear that I wasnt going to be pleased. I then asked if this was commonplace for him to inform his customers that they were wrong, when we were the ones eating the food. He indicated that he wasnt in the business of cooking food and giving it away (he may have said throwing it away, I wasnt clear on the response). I indicated that I wasnt in the business of paying for food not cooked to my order. He then accused of lying by saying, "You ate half of it and then decided you didnt want it." I categorically denied that I had eaten half of it, and stated, "Thats untrue. I took one bite (held up one finger), it was dry, so I put ketchup on it and took a second bite (held up a second finger)" I was immediately interrupted by the owner with, "Sir, get your fingers out of my face." I tried a few more times to help him understand that he was effectively accusing me of lying... about a **BURGER**, but there was no middle ground to be found. I asked then if he realized that he was in a service industry, and that at this point the service was pretty abysmal and that he was risking my business over a $10 order. He stood his ground and stated that he was not going to relent on the bill. I suppose the point is exactly that - the Westside Grill has lost my family as customers over a $10 burger. I resent being accused of lying, and I resent being treated as though I was somehow trying to scam them.

Banfields recently underwent an Ownership change. I havent been to this location prior, so I cannot comment on the previous "Service Issues" with the previous ownership... it does sound like they needed a change! Banfields Westside now hosts the WOLVERINE BEAT show on Thursday nights. Its a TV Show Broadcast in Detroit/Ann Arbor on Saturday mornings @11:00am. The show revolves around the two hosts; John Borton and Chris Balas from Wolverine magazine. They bring in past players, (Marcus Ray) each week and breakdown the previous game, the upcoming game and recruiting. The past players are cool, getting insight from a "players perspective" If anyone would like to attend, its open to the public. You can sit and watch, ask questions or get autographs from the former players. Show starts at 6pm and usually runs a couple of hours.

I was there St. Patricks Day weekend- while Michigan was playing. I ordered a build your own burger with bacon and Velveeta cheese. It was delicious. I ordered it medium well and it was cooked just right. My husband helped me finish it and said "The bacon was cooked perfectly because it had the right amount of chewiness left!" I also tried one of my hubbies chicken wings. That was also very tasty with just the right amount of heat. I drank a St. Pats drink called a Dublin Ice Tea. Boy was it strong! I just needed one! The staff was very friendly and I really liked the decor of the restaurant/bar. There are a ton of TVs- even one in the bathroom! The crowd was mixed with sports lovers, young and old but also family friendly. The Sports Bar Ann Arbor is a great place to go for the food and to watch sports.

After being told to call ahead to make a reservation for our church group, when I called, they then told me they dont take reservations on game day. So we headed over with the majority of our party so we could get a table and then were told we couldnt get seated until everyone was there. The hostess was clueless as to when a table might be available for 10 people and when a table became available there was absolutely no organization as to who would get the table. People moved from the bar and sat themselves making it impossible to put tables together for our party who had been standing there for over an hour. When we asked the manager to open the back room, he said he couldnt because so many of his staff were out sick. Needless to say our church group wont be going back, very disappointed.

Went there with a large group having just gotten moved into the area and looking for a place to take everyone. Out of around 8 people, our orders were messed up on around half. Taco salad with no tomatoes was filled with them. Took 10 minutes to pick through it, but quicker than waiting on a new order. None of the steaks were cooked correctly. A well done was pinkish red. A medium well was bloody. Took forever for replacements. Mashed potatoes instead of baked potato. Waiting forever on refills. I also saw meals being placed into a microwave through an open door in the back game room. The manager apologized when these issues were brought up, but of course not a single discount on the bill.

We go here annually after Christmas tree hunting with between 20 and 40 people. Weve gone every year for the last four years. We went this past Saturday again and called ahead. They had everything prepared for us and Mackenzie was our server and she was awesome. Our ages ranged from 2 years old to 60 years old and all were satisfied. Decent food and good beer selection with reasonable prices. Lots of high quality TVs too.
