I was disappointed by my experience at Taste of India. I am an Indian food fiend and have dined at nearly all of the Indian restaurants in the local area, and I was therefore looking forward to eating here. The atmosphere was very nice, it was clean, and the restaurant smelled pleasant (which to me is usually a sign of good food); however, my meal did not live up to my expectations. I ordered a mango shrimp dish (which cost over $18). Normally when I eat Indian food I am served a portion large enough to be split into 3 meals, and I rarely pay over $16. The serving size that I received at Taste of India was barely enough for one meal, which I thought was highly overpriced. Additionally, I made very clear that I am intolerant to dairy and gluten, and my rice was prepared with butter. The waiter asked me after it had been prepared whether that was ok, to which I replied that it was not. I did not receive butter-free rice until after I had finished my meal. Additionally, the sauce in my dish tasted almost identical to Ragu (with a touch of mango added in), and the shrimp did not taste fresh. In regards to the service, the waiter did not serve papadum (which the menu states comes with the meal). When asked about this, he reported that he was unsure whether the papadum was gluten-free (I have always been told that papadum is gluten-free at other restaurants). Rather than asking of the chef whether the papadum was gluten-free and informing me of the results of the questioning, it was simply not served. Finally, our water was not refilled during the meal. Overall, I did not feel that the meal that I ate was worth the money, and the taste was sub-par. The service was also questionable. I had high expectations for this restaurant based on reviews of friends and was sorely disappointed.

As an Indian living in the US for over 7 years, I have eaten at various Indian restaurants in LA, Chicago, NY, Boston and various other places. I can confidently say that this is one of the worst Indian restaurants. Four of us went for lunch buffet on an August Sunday afternoon. We decided to go here because of the reviews on google most of which were very good. However the food here is really bad. The items in the buffet were very limited to begin with. The "naan" (bread) was so hard that you had to struggle to get a bite out of it. The chicken was no different that my friend commented that we needed to ask for a hacksaw to cut into it. The spinach dish was worse than the place at the providence mall (and that is saying something if you have been there). We had asked if we could order some south indian food entrees (which I saw on the website menu before we went there), but the waitress told us that they didnt serve south indian food any more. By saying that the food was bad I dont mean that the spices were toned down to cater to the local population. The food was tasteless, often hard to bite into, limited in selection, and the decor of the place left you wanting. I have never left an Indian buffet after eating a single serving (plate) of food before eating her. Save yourself some time and please go someplace else. - Very disappointed Indian

Very good food. Good prices. Overall, a very nice dining experience. My boyfriend and I typically get the food from Taste of India at Waterfire. We love it so we decided to go to the restaurant. We went on a Saturday night and did not have a reservation. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated immediately. We started with the potato Samosa which is so incredibly good. We also got the chicken kebab which was delicious. Be sure to get the bread that comes hot from the oven and has a wonderful texture -- slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. We had food to take home as the portions were large. We will definitely go back. We dine in some of the best restaurants in RI and the service at Taste of India was truly better than any service that we have had in a while. The staff is VERY attentive and that adds to the enjoyment of a great meal.

Went there on 022213 for dinner. Had a groupon. Decor reminded me of a pizza parlor. Walls looked stained and a look at the tall areas revealed areas covered with grime. They were out of several varieties of beer. Service was rushed and inattatentive though only 3 other parties were in attendance. The waitress wore plastic gloves. Huh? I had a lamb dish. My date had chicken. Dinner was served with a plate of white rice. Both dishes were a bowl of sauce with a few chunks of meat. Really? If this is indian food, its not for us. For $15 each, a much better dinner could be had elsewhere. I will not return.

Never ever ask your food to make it spicy. They will add raw chilly powder, which will you guys end up in restroom. If you say its spicy, they will offer you mango chutney, thats when you have to leave the restaurant immediately, no second thoughts. dont think they are offering complimentary food , everything will be billed with a fake smile , and you cant deny it. So guys , think think think before going to this slum. Note: if you are going to this place, make sure you have enough medications or ambulance outside this slum .

I dont usually do this but I felt the buffet was not given enough credit. It has wonderful choices and if you feel the need for more they have a wonderful menu also available. I love going to providence and stopping there for lunch. 4 our of 5 stars

I have had an order for pickup and I have dined in once. Both times the food was excellent. The place is a little small on the inside but I would recommend it. the staff is polite and helpful. Even with a full restaurant the food came out quick.

We had the worst form of Indian food here. The waitress was moving around with a constipated expression. She came with a grumpy face every time to take the order and looked like some one has forced her to take up up the job. Very sad ambience.

Palak paneer was very yummy. Good portion for lunch and good assortment of chutneys to accompany. Only disappointment was that my takeout order did not come with papadum, their menu said it was included.
