On a bone-chilling, rain-filled day, I embarked on a hunt for foods to warm me up. What do I want? My fingers start typing my desires. "Soup." No. "Noodles." Not quite. Something that combines them both. "Ramen." Amen. Following the address listed, I find myself at Porter and am so very confused. It looks like Im at the right place, but where is this mysterious Ramen den? After sketchily walking up and down the block a few times, I figure out the hidden entrance: you go in through the Shops at Porter door. I had no idea this place was essentially in a Japenese food court! And what a food court it is. I went a bit after the lunch rush (around 2:30 PM) so was surprised to see a line of about 5 people all waiting for a seat at the tiny, packed Sapporo. With the other Asian restaurants in the hallway completely deserted. I felt a bit bad for them, but that means that Sapporo is the place to be. And Im already here, so shivering and hungry, I wait. After about 20 minutes, Im seated and order a Spicy Miso Ramen. Luckily it comes out in a jiffy, steaming and spicy and savory. And so, so perfect. There are noodles and pork and veggies in a delectable broth. If it werent freezing outside, I probably would have broken a sweat as I slurped. Honestly, I can think of nothing better on a rainy day than this bowl of Japanese love. I scarfed down as much as possible, my mouth and belly thanking me again and again, but still wasnt able to finish it. Even better! I get it packed up and have a scrumptious lunch the next day. Ramen. Amen.

This is the perfect place to go on a cold grey day. Fortunately for Sapporo Ramen, we get lots of those in Boston. Forget the rice dishes and appetizers that clutter up the menu. The gyoza are shriveled and oily, the fried rice dishes are small and are lacking in ingredients other than rice, and the pork bun is lackluster. Only only ONLY order the ramen here. I usually go for the House Ramen ($8.50, I think) which consists of a simple and hearty broth (delicious and creamy), lots of ramen noodles (chewy -- yum!), beansprouts and corn, half a boiled egg (sadly, this is not the delicious runny and half-boiled egg that youd find in Japan) and two (ONLY TWO) slices of pork. The broth and the noodles are the stars of this show. The portion of meat in each bowl, however, is ludicrous. Sapporo even has the nerve to charge $2 for extra pork. I am also saddened by the very well cooked egg...the half-boiled egg is always the best part of ramen! At the end of the day, though, I like this place because I always leave full and toasty warm. P.S. This restaurant is cash only! Theres a Bank of America (and a couple of other ATMs) right next door, though.

Its hard to judge ramen because everyone has their own preferences in terms of broth. This particular ramen place makes very thick, creamy broth which I think is pretty good. The contents of the ramen are all standard and cooked okay, really just depends on your preference as I said before. Only real downside is how tiny this place is and the line/wait thats always there. The wait is usually like 40 minutes, but it sucks because you actually have to stand there the whole time. Definitely would recommend it if you come on an off hour, otherwise it might not be worth the wait if youre not into the kind of ramen.

If youre looking for a welcoming and upscale dining environment, look again. If youre looking for fantastic ramen, look no further. I love ramen, and I try it at any place that Im recommended to try. This has been my favorite by far, even better than the outstanding Yume Wo Katare down the road - to think we only tried here because they were closed! We both had the spicy miso ramen, and it was absolutely fantastic. I will have to come back with a completely empty stomach, because the portion was far too much to finish otherwise. Too many options on the menu to try, but the ones Ive had have been outstanding.

I love this shop! I am there at least once a week for their huge steaming bowls of noodles. The moyashi bowls in particular are enormous. Make sure youre prepared for the challenge if you order them! Their broths are great, but have some variation in taste depending on the day and whos cooking. That is mainly to say that some days theyre even better than their usual great flavor. Lately, my usual order is the plain soy sauce bowl, occasionally springing for the pork dumplings if Im extremely hungry. I am always happy with the prompt service and personable staff. Highly recommended!

Not good. Weve been to a lot of Bostons ramen restaurants, and this was by far our least favorite. Ajitama came out unacceptably overcooked, and one of the broths we received split into a literal half INCH of vegetable oil. It was gross. Just go down the street to Yume, or brave the red line one stop and go to Santouka. Only saving grace was the noodles, which were admittedly well cooked and springy, but not worth it overall. To be fair, our server was friendly and understanding, but with so much good food around, we wont be going back.

My boyfriend *loves* Ramen. So when we went to Boston for a visit, he found a few Ramen places he wanted to try. We were only supposed to go here once, but ended eating here 4 times before our week-long trip was up. Both the vegetarian and House broths were *amazing*, and being able to switch between ramen noddles and rice noodles for a change was a really nice touch. I was not a huge fan of Ramen going in, but Sopporo has changed the way I think about this dish. I still dream about the food here from time to time.

Ive been here a few times and have liked it every time! Its usually pretty crowded, so definitely come early if possible. You can see them making the udon inside if youre lucky and its a good way to pass the time while youre waiting. As for food, I prefer the cold udon, but Ive tried the others when my friends order them and Ive never disliked them. Definitely a go to if youre craving noodles or udon.

This is by far hands down the best ramen to be had in the Boston area. They make a chicken-based broth and have 2 pieces of char siu to go with the ramen. My go-to dish is typically the house ramen or kimchi ramen. ts affordable compared with Santouka, which while good is a bit on the pricey end. This is a cash-only place and they dont take reservations. Go early if you want to get a seat.

We visited here because we read that it was popular and this place was always crowded whenever we wanted to visit. We got a chance to actually eat here late one night and managed to order the famous ramen bowl. I guess our expectations were too high as while the ramen was good, it wasnt outrageously good that we would wait in line all the way out in the lobby area for.

One of the few places in Boston that offers thick broth salt ramen, the taste was okay, but theres something in the broth that disturbed me a bit, therefore the rating is not as high. The serve was filling. Waitress didnt speak to us much and has a pretty strong accent. I wont category it as a restaurant, its more like a 10 min quick lunch place. Limited seating.
