Dashi is a high quality, well-priced Japanese restaurant. The building is spacious, theres a lot of seating, and the atmosphere is tasteful. They have a full bar with local beers and several other drinks, and a full patio. I had the Shabu Shabu with beef. A pot is placed on a stove (which is in the center of the table), and you cook your own meat, vegetables, and ramen. (It also comes with cooked rice and a variety of sauces.) Theres a lot of food, and its all delicious. This is where they showed excellent service, as they help with the hot pot. They were also just very polite and engaging, which is a cut above the rest. Our server was very sweet, and even gave us Pikachu bookmarks that she folded herself. What says personal touch and good service better than a homemade Pikachu bookmark?? : ) I later ordered the Alaskan roll. The price was lower than other sushi around New Haven, and yet it was the best Ive had here: the roll was wider, there was a generous amount of salmon and avocado, and it was aesthetically beautiful. Seriously. Come voracious, leave satisfied...and more cultured in Japanese cuisine.

Excellent food and a friendly atmosphere! I was charging my electric motorcycle across the street and needed a place to eat. Such good fortune to find a good sushi restaurant nearby! I ordered the bento box lunch and the sushi was fresh and high quality. The fried chicken had a light and subtle flavor to it, and everything else on the plate was presented nicely and tasted very good. Looking forward to recharging here again!

Went here on a Sunday night and got a variety of food. All of it ended up being delicious and incredibly reasonably priced. Service was terrific and the food arrived very quickly. Would recommend it to anyone looking for not just the hot pot experience, but for delicious food as well.

Exceptional food, fresh and just delicious. A fun dining experience and having had shabo shabo in Tokyo - Dashis is very authentic. Great place for a date or with a bunch of friends. Friendly service and great prices. Had a memorable evening!
