I love the food at this restaurant and always look forward to going when Im in town. During a recent trip to the area, I was so excited to bring my family to my favorite breakfast place! Id been telling them about it all weekend. What an unnecessary disappointment! For this, they get 2 stars. We waited for seating for over 30 minutes (which is fine), only to find out that we could not/would not be accommodated (NOT FINE). They definitely need to work on their seating policy and communication. There is only 1 table in the restaurant that seats 6. If this table is taken, you need to split up your party. There are also booths made for only 4, regardless of whether you could fit more, a few seats for two, and the counter. Customers who frequent the place know all about the "rules", but, if you dont come here often, it is more stressful than it needs to be to get a seat for breakfast. Something as simple as putting a sign in the window to let people know about their seating "rules" would go a long way. It would also eliminate a lot of the confusion, frustration, and disappointment if they just took down your name and # of people in your party to help with seating and to set right expectation. I dont think thats too much to ask. Otherwise, again, I think the quality and variety of their food is great.

Like many others have experienced, the staff is very insensitive if you bring children with food allergies and try to supplement their meal with something the diner cant offer or if you simply bring an infant and try to feed them Cheerios or baby food. We ran into their crazy strict policy of no outside food that I have not experienced elsewhere and will never return. They arent nice about it either. They say its a food safety issue, but any regulation like they might be thinking of is typically aimed at preventing outside food from being SOLD to patrons. This seems more like a revenue boosting policy from what Im able to discern.

I just went there to have breakfast. I was alone. There were about seven booths empty. I ssked to sit on a booth but I was told the only place I could sit was on the counter. I showed the waitress all the empty booths and told her it takes me 15 min to eat and go. I can not sit on a stool at the counter. No need to explain any medical issues if any. She refused!! I told her it was wrong but she insisted. Either the counter or leave! She had such an impolite, sour face, almost an angry attitude. Needless to say I left! Never in my life I have encounter this kind of service in a restaurant.

My husband and I have started walking the two miles each way to burn some of the calories we know were going to consume because we have a hard time resisting the urge to overeat our favorite menu items: their homemade hash (especially the less frequently listed turkey hash) and their lobster benedict. We like the innovations they offer as specials and the staff provide a friendly community atmosphere. I agree with another poster that several of the negative threads have a suspicious similarity to one another. Maybe theyre just trying to keep the line shorter on busiest days :-)

Delicious breakfast food. Love the hash and the home fries! Never been for anything other than breakfast so cant comment on other items. I agree with billiburger. Im a little suspicious about the negative reviews. Ive been to Shawsheen around 8 times now and have never found the servers to be anything but very nice. My visits have been over a number of years so I wouldnt consider myself the type of patron they know by site and hence are particularly friendly too as a result. Ive brought kids several times and had no problems. Many others bring their kids too.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Woman on the phone was insanely rude and hung up the phone on me. When we got there, it was crowded but we obviously didnt mind waiting. We had a party of 6 and no one told us while we were waiting that they "cant sit 6". So we waited and got sat and all of a sudden it was a problem that we had 6 people. Mind you, it was 4 adults and 2 small children. Not 6 adults. So we sat at our booth anyway and they actually kicked us out of the restaurant. Awful experience, awful staff.

Wow! Happy servers and wait staff provide unrushed and unparalleled service even when the line is out the door. The healthy menu is an awesome idea: a whole menu dedicated to healthy options, which was delicious all the same. The dedication of the staff to keep the place clean is not something I ordinarily experience. It may seem silly but when I see somebody properly cleaning a table instead of half hazardously, you know they care about the place they work. In town just one more day, but Ill definitely be back.

Thee rudest most unfriendly waitress I have ever had. Accidently knocked over menu into the sink and she was not happy about it. Like I did it on purpose or something. Was telling my friend that I brought my own paprika spice for my hash browns. She overheard me and said that Im not allowed to bring in my own food and that it says it on the door. R U SERIOUS. Its a spice!! She does not smile and is way too serious. I mean you should at least smile. Food was very good, but would never go back.

If you have small children or kids with any food allergies I would avoid this place at all costs. Enormous attitude from the staff about our daughter eating a coconut milk yogurt and fruit from home. She has a number of food allergies and basically cant order anything off the menu safely. We ended up just leaving so cant comment on the food. Certainly wont be back. People skills among the wait staff and manager are severely deficient.

Bit pricy forbreakfast and the wall decor needs cleaned but there is nothing at all wrong with the food quality. Biggest complaint was the side of fresh fruit was for dollars and consisted of maybe a third of a banana and a few small pieces of cantaloupe and grapes. The profit margin must be huge, would not order again. Shawsheen omelette was delicious, their breakfast sausage is great.

It is pretty tough to nab a table in here for breakfast or brunch on the weekends, but I find it to be well worth it. They have a great selection of breakfast and lunch foods to satisfy every craving. They have a "healthy" menu with a lot of vegetarian options and specials every day. Their sweet potato pancakes are to die for. The staff is very efficient and friendly.

I visit Andover on business and eat at this little diner when Im in town. It has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and wonderful food. Ive only eaten there for lunch but after reading these reviews Ill have to go early and eat breakfast. It is a perfect quirky, local place that beats going to any fastfood place.

Best chili omlette ever. You can tell the place is run by people who know what they are doing. MBA students should come just to observe how staff interacts with each other and with customers. I was there the day a new wait person started. It was amazing how they were being trained and treated by staff.
