First off, let me say my fiance and I LOVE the food at Ghar-e-Kabab. However, today was the fifth, and final, time where they messed up our delivery order. Considering the already high prices, small portions and very slow delivery times (we live less than a mile from their location and delivery time is typically nearly 90 minutes) we were already mildly annoyed with our experience, yet their food quality kept bringing us back. However, the mistakes kept getting more frequent, such as inaccurate orders (e.g., forgot our order of naan once, we requested a double salad instead of side salad and rice, yet they gave us three orders of rice and no salad, etc.) and would make noticeable mistakes on simple order directions (e.g, mildly spiced dish was delivered far too spicy, we received a regular order of naan when I paid extra for stuffed naan). Again, these were annoyances, but acceptable because we so enjoy the food. However, today was the final straw. I placed an order at noon with a delivery time of 8PM in hopes it would be fresh and hot when my fiance got home. Instead they delivered the food at 1:30 with, yet again, an incorrect order. I returned the food to their restaurant and complained about their increasingly frustrating delivery issues and this mistake particularly. Instead of being understanding and attempting to fix the issue, they spent the first 5 minutes claiming they didnt have anything that showed I placed an order. This was despite me having a bag with their food in it, their receipt stapled to the bag, my printed online receipt and my order history showing them we are very loyal customers averaging at least one order every month. Finally, they agreed it was their error and they promised they would deliver the food at the correct time with the correct order. They didnt offer a discount, or a anything to account for their mistake. They finally delivered the food approximately 10 minutes ago and once again they gave us 3 orders of rice instead of two salads and no rice, and finally the two orders of paneer pakora was only one order. Moral of the story is, the food is great, the service, particularly delivery service, is abysmal and they make mistakes so frequently I cant recommend them any longer. Buyer beware!

Im a bit surprised to see such glowing reviews of Ghar-E-Kabab. While I am a frequent customer, its more out of convenience than me liking the food. Being a frequent customer, I can say that certain dishes vary greatly in quality from day to day. When the restaurant first opened, I dined in and ordered aloo gobi. It was so salty that my husband convinced me to send it back, saying that it must have been a mistake in the error. They said that they remade it, but it came out just as bad. Since then, I have only had the delivery. I typically order the aloo gobi and the vegetable biriyani. I always get both, because usually one of the two is good and the other is bad. Sometimes one of them is great, but overall its just too inconsistent for me to give it too great of a review. My husband on the other hand, normally gets the chicken curry and says its always good. Maybe its just the vegetable dishes that are problematic. If I go out for Indian, Ill always make the slightly farther drive to Udupi Palace, Woodlands, or Tiffin in Langley Park.

Having lived in Silver Spring for 2 years I did not know this little gem. That is because the exterior is so unassuming to mislead passers-by into thinking of it as a small pub or a take-out venue. Finally I caught a deal on Groupon and decided to give it a try, and it was a great experience. The inside is very clean, upscale and still comfortable. My wife and I were served by 2 very nice looking young men dressing up formally. We had samosas, chicken biryani, chicken with special nepali curry sauce and masala chai. My favorite was the chai which was made fresh and the aroma from the spices, I swear, relaxed me for the entire day. Slightly on the expensive side and the serving portions were not large - do not expect to be a pig here unless you are going for the buffett.

We came here without a reservation on Valentines Day - with 3 year old in tow. Every person on the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating; they even brought our child a mango lassi without being asked. If we had been on our own, this would have been a very nice place to eat as a couple as well. The food was definitely some of the best Indian food I have had around here, from the spicy and crisp Papadum bread and condiments to the delicious tandoori chicken appetizer and perfectly smoky, fresh eggplant dish. Also had a very good wine selection. All around very nice and I would go back anytime. Convenient parking right across the street too in the Wayne Ave. garage.

Love this place. The food is tasty and not too extreme in flavors or spices or too oily like some indian restaurants. I tried the Lamb Korma and the traditional nepalese soup. I didnt like the soup because it was too salty (generally I think most soups in restaurants are too salty) and the owner insisted that I try a different one. He was super nice even though he didnt have to do it... So I tried the lentil soup instead and it hit the spot. They also deliver (and you can get a 10% discount) within 3 mile radius. Ive been telling all my friend about it and most of them love it.

Absolutely fabulous resteraunt!! When my husband and I found this place we were incredibly excited and then when we found out that they delivered-we order in at least every other week now! They even know our names! The resteraunt has a wonderful romantic atmosphere and the staff are wonderful. I especially like their Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken. And if you are a vegetarian (or just do not want to eat meat that night)-their Chana Masala and Aloo Gobhi are wonderful!! Also, always order their naan and a mango lassi to make your dinner complete.

What a great place to eat authentic Indian and Nepalese food. A family member recommended this place and I see why! The restaurant was clean, pretty spacious, and they have beautiful oil paintings covering the walls. The service was spectacular. Our waiter always kept our water glasses filled, always came at the appropriate time, and never made us feel neglected or rushed. The food was definitely top 5 best Indian food Ive ever had. Very flavorful, wonderful seasonings, and great portions. Will absolutely be back next time Im in town!

The food was great. The best part was none of the food items were oily including the deep fried pakoras. The Chicken biryani was great - one of the best that you can get in Maryland/ Virginia. The people who run the restaurant were very friendly. The lunch buffet however doesnt have many dishes - only about 6 but those 6 items were pretty good. It is priced at 9.99. Hopefully they can have a few more varieties without compromising the quality. The owner says that they use only organic ingredients. Overall I would give them a 9/10.

I love this place. The Chicken Tikka Masala, the Aloo Gobi, and the Chicken Curry are my favorite dishes but almost everything is great there and the service is very good too. My friends and I were very apprehensive because of the location of the restaurant but I am glad that we gave it a shot and now its one of our favorite places in Silver Spring. If you havent eaten there you should give it a shot and see for yourself. And if you do please give it a write up. :) They also do delivery. Happy Eating!
