I work nearby, so when my wife and 3 year old come for lunch, weve gone here for the buffet on 3 occasions. The regular items are done the same each time (They have had paneer two or three ways, always been good flavor. Chicken Makhai, Karahi and Tikka Masala all decent though I wish they were boneless. THe Daal Makhani is quite good, but their Bengan Bharta (eggplant) is awesome...went back for seconds, or was it thirds?) Desert is usually Gulab Jamun, but today they had a rice-pudding (never had it at an Indian place before, but it was quite good.) The remarks that this food is bland is just off. Its spicy, and hot, and I always find at least one item at the buffet that is just darn good. All the whining below seems to be from some really odd folk. The restaurant is always packed at lunch, and by a very diverse clientele. Ive also never been there when there wasnt at least one or two groups of people speaking Hindi to the staff/owners (I assume its Hindi, rather than another dialect), which seems to me to indicate that the food is pretty authentic. This isnt a tourist hub, that is for sure. Its more of a dive, but if you ask for what you want, and make sure you get it, its a great deal! No where else are you going to eat your fill of good food in the district for $9 (cash).

Ive gone for lunch quite a number of times but I think Im going to stop. The food is deliciously but the service is bad -- really bad -- I mean PROHIBITIVELY bad. I quit ordering a cola with my lunch buffet because you can never get it refilled. Frankly, youre lucky if you can get a water glass refilled. Bread refill? Nope! Maybe its not allowed. Today was the last straw after I didnt get a fork with my utensils and couldnt get one even after asking for one. I ended up getting up and going over to the take-out supplies for a plastic one which didnt work so well as youre trying to separate meat from bone. Eventually, midway through lunch, I did get a different persons attention who seemed very annoyed by my asking. Another part I dont like is that the tables are so close together. Were crammed in there like sardines. Its hard to enjoy your lunch with someone always walking past and brushing and bumping into you every 30 seconds. And, yes, I agree with the other reviewers that the meat dishes are more bone than meat. They must be buying the cheapest meat they can get. Best rice pudding I ever had, though. Too bad theyve only had it twice in the 15 or so times Ive been there.

I was here for lunch today, after a full morning conference session in a hotel nearby. My colleague and I were looking for a restaurant for lunch and found this place. I asked for their menu, even though they had a lunch buffet going on. I figured I was more interested in seeing whether they have any adventurous options in the menu that wasnt featured in the buffet. After all, I am also more into quality than quantity. And guess what? I found they have goat! I asked if they had goat today, and sure enough they said yes. I ordered the goat biryani and the sweet lassi. They asked me how spicy I want the biryani, to which I replied "Indian spicy". Oh, how heavenly. My forehead released sweat and my tastebuds were definitely aroused. It was so good! The goat was very tender and well cooked, and it mixed well with the spices in the basmati rice that surrounded it. If my desire to discover the diversity of cuisines here in DC isnt strong enough, then I would even consider going back here tomorrow for another round. 5 stars. I sure hope they are still going to be around the next time I visit Washington DC.

It was really great experience. After a whole day of starving in different places in DC, fear of running out of time, and scarcity of parking places will drive you crazy. In all those you can hardly make some time for taking food. But when we could on Sunday, It was really something special. We find this from google and honestly speaking it was just a name to us before reaching there. We were hungry like mad and could eat whole out of a restaurant. And suddenly we found the perfect deal for us. You got a buffet!. Can you imagine! after whole day of starving what can be better than this! like 12.50 was charged for each person. There were 8-10 items and also followed by desserts. Those were very tasty. In short, really a great fooding experience. So if you are a visitor and looking for halal food it can be a good choice. In fact for all tourist can be a memorable meal with an amount of money not to be bothered about.

Horrible excuse for a lunch buffet. Had rice that was dry and felt like it was old and was reheated. Paneer had more watery gravy than actual substance in it and was pretty tasteless. The only chicken curry smelt and tasted of raw ginger and garlic and the butter chicken was a sweet but otherwise tasteless slush. A lot of people would use spicy and hot synonymously , but they are two very different things. Food here was tasteless, not just bland. Naan sreved was hot and fresh, and was the only good part, however, When we wanted a second round of naan the waiter disappeared with the basket and did not reappear. This is NOT authentic Indian fare. ( I am Indian, so I know what the food is really like). The problem is with this restaurant and not the cuisine. They might do a better job with their a la carte fare , I dont know and I would never go back to this place.

Dont know how to start about this place. I was in DC with my parents and after a day of roaming around and meeting some friends we were really hungry and wanted to get some decent indian food.I knew about this spot as I walked past by in the morning. They had a buffet during the dinner time too which was a surprise. Since this is halal only food me and my parents only had the vegetarian food here. * Dal (Yellow Lentils) * Mixed vegeatable curry * Shahi Paneer * Vegetable Biryani * Naan * Gulab Jamun Everything which we tried had no flavours and was not at all tasty. The servers long time to get fresh naans. The only good thing were the fresh naans. All the entrees specially dal and paneer had literally no spices. The biryani looked like it has been lying there for a while. The dessert gulab jamun was a joke, tasted so weird. Dont think coming back here!

I work about 4 blocks from here and make a trip to Mayur Kabab once or twice a week. The meals are reasonably priced (downright cheap for the area). Lunch is $8.00 for the buffet, or $9.00 for the buffet with the boneless chicken. The lunch crowd comes in for the buffet, which is all-you-can-eat, but served to you by the staff. Personally, I have never gone up for seconds because they give you PLENTY. The choices on sides changes every day, can be seen as limited, and some days chicken is not included with the buffet. However for $1 more you can order the boneless tandor chicken, which is the best in the city bar none. The naan bread is perfect and they have the best chutney ever. Staff has always been friendly too.
