In the service industry, communication is very important between the waiter and the customer. In this case, it was clear that it was of little importance to the staff (among other things). I admit, the waitress may have misheard my friend, sure; however it wasnt the first or the last time it happened that night. What surprised me was their refusal to rectify the issue by taking back one of the dishes and replacing it with the correct dish. I have never witnessed a waiter who became so defensive and confrontational in the manner that ours did. In my dining experiences, I have experienced times when a waiter would fail to get an order right, forget to fill my water the whole meal (not that I had much of a chance to get a word in), have an attitude, or I would go through different waiters, my party would have dishes where they clearly skimped on portions, or said waitress would not take at least 5 seconds to check on us from time to time. This particular night, I experienced all of the above INCLUDING a waitress who was exceedingly rude by hovering over our party as we signed our checks; that really did it for me. First of all, if you knew that there were issues with our table and you refused to make the situation even marginally better, why would you expect a tip from me? Second of all, I have never had a waiter obstinate enough to ask me why I didnt tip; its pretty self-explanatory. There are better options for Korean restaurants in the DMV area with at least decent service by the staff. This establishment is not one of them.

This was probably the worst dining experience Ive ever had. The waitress didnt get our order right and when the wrong food came out she argued with us and refused to correct her mistake. She showed us her ticket and what she wrote down, insisting we got what we ordered. What would we have gained for lying about the food we wanted? And so what anyway, just take it back and bring back what we want! Nope, she just walked away and left us with food we didnt order. My friends wanted to walk out but I felt it would be immoral or something... We should have just left. We were all given one glass of water that was never refilled for the full 2 hours we were there. Then when we finally paid our checks, the waitress hovered over us, examining our tips. Most of us left something but one in my party decided not to since the service was so horrid. The waitress asked him, youre not leaving any tip? He said no because the service was terrible. She just laughed and walked away. Really, nothing else matters about my visit to this restaurant. Who cares what the food is like if youre going to be accused of lying then ignored for the rest of the night? No thanks, Im NEVER coming back to this place.

I thought the food at Hwa Gae Jang Tuh was very good, but it didnt stand out significantly from some of the other excellent Korean restaurants in the area. The price did stand out though, and not in a good way. They do have some private rooms, which might fit some peoples needs. I think Ill be avoiding this place in future for simple value-for-money reasons.

Not sure how the other reviews are so mixed, but this is probably the best Korean place in the area... Everything is pretty good here, and the staff is really nice. Prices are a little bit higher than some other places, but worth it to not have to take a gamble on the food quality.

Maryland has far fewer Korean restaurants than Virginia. That usually means Maryland Korean restaurant menus list "everything" and that usually means nothing is particularly good. But this Korean restaurant is quite good. Just about everything Ive ever ordered here was good.

Absolutely awful service. I wouldve preferred no service over hostility. This place will live on among my and my friends memories through statements like "at least it isnt as bad as that one Korean restaurant we went to that one time." Avoid.

Authentic, delicious Korean food. My family and I originally went to Iron Age for my birthday but after being told there was a 45 minute wait, we decided to come here. We were blown away by how friendly the staff were and the food was amazing.

really really horrible service and much too expensive for the mediocre quality of food. Everything tastes ok but the portions are less than generous and the side dishes at this korean restaurant were cheap.

Wait staff is great, as is the food. A bit pricey and sometimes I feel like the Korean speaking guests may get more of those little side dishes. Overall, still the best Korean food in the area.

My friend and I went here for lunch and it was great! The server was super friendly and attentive. Our stew was super yummy as well! Cant wait to come back here and try the BBQ!

The seafood pancake was fluffier than I liked. The japchae okay. The jajangmyun didnt have any flavor. Ill give them another go to try out their spicy pork.
