Im Korean. I love my countrys food and I know what tastes better(there is slightly difference in their own source) and what reasonable pirces are among those restaurants around this area. Ive been all of the Korean grilled BBQ restaurant in Annandale. First of all, this specific Han Gang restaurant did something that they should never do to their customers. I brought my sister in-law and my husband(both American) one day when she visited us from FL. I wanted to take her to a good restaurant so I did even though it was a little pricy than the others in the area, but still thought it would be worthy spending a little more on good food. Everything was going perfect until a server spilled the Miso soup on my husbands lap. I mean its okay to make mistakes, but then the server did not say a thing. Then the other server said "sorry" ,just one word. Okay, then I asked her for a wet towel so that we can wipe it off. I never saw anyone brinng anything to me at that day. Were they busy? Nope it was around 3 ish. After busy lunch time. Well, we still enjoyed the food, its a little bit pricy but still the meat and sidedishes were good enough to me. Then the worst nightmare happend. I paid the bill with my check card. It was about $87. Then I saw one of the servers kind of glimpse at our table to check if we left tip yet or not. So I opened my wallet and found out that all cash I had was one $10 bill. I was going to leave more than $10 but sorry, I did not know that I only had a little. I left $10 on the table. It was about 12% tip. We walked out and somebody called me behind. It was one of the servers. She chased me down after me and askemd if I was misscalculating their TIP!!!!!!! She said most people left 15% of tips and I only left about 12%, thats why she ran after me and asked me if I was doing right?????? I was humiliated and my husband and sister in-law asked me what was going on since she talked me in Korean. Then I got so mad and asked her if their service was good enough? and if she was going to pay for the dry cleaning of his pants? She said she did not know what happend and sorry about that but she said she concerned me being misscalculating on tips???? OMG, I just walked in to the restaurant again and asked for a manager, well, apparently they did not have a manager in that big resturant. They never let me talk to the manager. I just told her that shd could just ruined almost perfect dinner. She just spit out "sorry" very rudly. I never went back to the restaurant again even though my husband and I used to love that place. And we will never go back. I see the very very over priced food, horrible host manner, and we dont even have tip culture back in my country and they asked their customers for more tip? I dont know they might think the tip as tax? They definitely need to train their employers before putting in the hall.

I went to this restaurant to celebrate my dads birthday with family which included 6 adults, a toddler, and a preschooler. First of all, the place was not kid-friendly at all. The aisles were narrow and no place to put a high chair. The tables were equipped for tabletop grilling, but no ventilation system to accommodate such dining experience. Each adult ordered an entree, including a serving of Gal-bee. We also ordered a medium size Sashimi Platter ($70) in addition to the entrees. Soft Tofu Casserole (aka. soon-tofu jigae) was the worst I have tasted around the area. I order this dish at almost every Korean restaurant we visit because of my kids. $70 Sashimi Platter had neither quantity or quality. I would give 2 star for presentation. It was filled mostly with salmon and tuna. A $70 Sashimi Platter at other Korean restaurants we visit has A LOT more to offer. A serving of Gal-bee (supposed to be for 1 person) is priced at $27. We ordered the one without bones which amounts to roughly 15 bite-size pieces of meat. 1 piece of meat measuring less than 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch in size. Thats $1.80 per piece! The meat wasnt even high quality - too fatty for my taste. Now the side dishes. No outstanding remarks here. Average to mediocre. Their kimchee is definitely mediocre as you could still taste the raw greens as a result of not being salted enough during the initial preparation. Had my preschool son not slept through the dinner, we wouldnt have had enough food to go around. We couldnt even save some food for him later since there was barely enough food for the adults. My 13-month-old girl had some rice porridge which was offered as an appetizer. After paying $180, we left the restaurant feeling bitter and vowing never to come back. What a way to end a birthday dinner!

My poor dad had the worst food poisoning there after eating their Hwae-dup-bop (mixed rice with sashimi). He went there with a group of senior citizens from their church and approximately 45 minutes after finishing his meal, he had to race to the restroom... things didnt let up for 48 hrs and he ended up in the ER with dehydration! My sister called the restaurant to let them know what happened, and their response was not very apologetic... I tell everyone I know not to go there, ever!!! Maybe it was a one time mistake, but any restaurant that serves raw fish has to take special precaution to make sure that the fish is fresh... makes you wonder about their food safety practices in general!

HanGang restaurant is good in some ways and mediocre in others. The decor is kept kind of dark with textured walls and low lighting throughout. The windows are covered or tinted to help keep light out. The tables and chairs mostly fit everywhere and walking around is not really encumbered by the layout. The food is rather over priced for what your getting. Its not that its bad food but a lot of the plates cost more than they should for simple meatkimchi and vegetables. The seafood is one of their better options to explore some higher end dishes. Unfortunately if your not Korean the staff does make some assumptions by default. Its ultimately not a problem just a kind of oddity.

My wife and I find this restaurant one of the top-quality Korean restaurant in Washington DC area. The location is easy to find with spacious parking. The staff is always warm with smiles and ready to assist you with all demands. Food is the most excellent made of high quality meat, vegetables and condiments, which contribute to the excellent taste. Utensils, tableware and the interior decorations all add to the quality of this fine restaurant. We have lived in this area since 2004 and visit this restaurant most often inspite of its higher pricing. We believe their quality is well worth the extra cost. We rate this restaurant five stars with no faults to identify.

I would never recommend this place to anyone I know. First they make me and group of friends wait while two Korean groups came in and immediately got seated. Then it took them 30 min to take our order and another hour to actually receive our food after complaining, they would have taken even longer if we didnt. The worst part about the experience is groups came in and got food and left before we even received our food when we ordered less than they did. If your Korean I dont why you would come here because the food was mediocre and over priced but if you are any other race then go to any of the other great places around here.
