Wont ever eat there again! A couple weeks ago on a Sunday we decided to ride our motorcycles there and have a late lunch in the Historic restaurant as we have done several times before over the last several years. When we arrived there was only one or two other tables seated inside. Our waitress was very good and friendly. She told us about the specials and I was the only one that decided to order the soft crab sandwich which I asked many questions about prior to ordering. Everyone else ordered burgers. Two of us ordered the Bruschetta with crabmeat appetizer which we had before and was very good. When it came out not only was the bread burned on all 4 pieces of both orders but I had a hard time finding the topping let alone a piece of crabmeat that was supposed to be on it. Really? 4 burnt pieces of toast for $12? Everyone elses meal finally arrived after about an hour + of waiting but mine. The burgers looked good but when she put the soft crab in front of me I almost laughed. It was the smallest scrawniest soft crab I had ever seen. I took my first bite of a leg. It was so salty I almost spit it out. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tasted it in a couple other places. It was just as salty and I couldnt eat it! I called the waitress over and said it was horrible and I wanted it removed from our bill. She went back in the kitchen and came back and said she could not remove it from our bill because I ate some. Really? I took 2 bites! It was so small it looked like I ate half of it. Did I say it cost $15 for something that was not editable? That day we spent $150 for the total and the waitress said the chef refused to remove from the bill. Well, they lost a customer on that one! How has this place stayed in business so long with this kind of attitude?

First time visit and DEFINITELY the last!! Atrocious service. Standing at the tavern bar - which wasnt very busy - I was passed by for 25 minutes while other patrons (who arrived at the bar after I did) were served their drinks and had their orders taken. To be fair, there was only one bartender, but she should have at least acknowledged my presence instead of ignoring me. I was ordering for my wife and I. When my order was finally taken, it took 30 minutes for her soup to arrive. Over an hour later, my food still had not arrived, and the bartender tried to tell me that it had been delivered. Then she said it hadnt. Then she said it was on the way. I paid for the soup and our drinks and left the establishment, NEVER to return. In summary, if you are looking to have a meal in a reasonable amount of time, do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE ELSE!!

Sunday 7/31/2016 I was looking at the Union Hotel Restaurant Website, their menu looked like it would be worth the 2 hour drive. When we arrived, the Union Tavern had many people enjoying friendship with other bikers. An Employee of this establishment informed us that the Union Hotel Restaurant is currently CLOSED, for the Owner is on Vacation, and would be closed for the duration of her vacation.. We informed the employee that there was Nothing on the Union Hotel Restaurant Website that stated that the Restaurant would be CLOSED FOR VACATION. The employee said that there is a sign on the door about being Closed. and she said that the owner didnt feel that it was Necessary to include on the Union Hotel Restaurant Website that it would be CLOSED for VACATION. WHAT A WASTED TRIP!!!. We will Never Return.

Our family was in town from the midwest, and mom love unique dining experiences. We chose to give this place a try, especially since we are looking to bring a group of motorcycle riders in on the weekend. The decor was wonderful! It was as though we walked 250 years back in time. The wait staff in period dress was very good. I enjoyed the pulled pork platter, which came with loaded baked potato and the baby carrots, both of which were cooked to desire. We loved the fresh baked bread that came with our choice of honey butter or Raspberry butter. It was not long for our table! We will be back, and look forward to sampling other items on the menu.

My wife and I are in our early 60s, and one thing we have always done is "hit the road" for mini birthday celebrations whether it be a lunch or dinner. The Union Hotel Restaurant was on our short list for 2010. Yes #1: The historical decor of the main dining area with its quaint little side dining rooms keeps your eyes roaming. Yes #2: Heather, our colonial dressed server, was very informative and friendly--wouldnt want it any other way. Yes #3: An 80-mile round trip is NOT too far for a superb "early American" dining experience like this one. We will be back with friends in tow.

Delicious food as always, but we also received free entertainment! The family seated next to us were loudly gushing about Donald Trump and their recent visit to a Creation Museum. According to the man, Noah actually kept two of every animal in the world on his boat by simply taking them as babies "which poop a lot less." They caught us giggling. I wonder if these hyper-conservative goofballs saw the irony in dining at a "union" hotel?

First time at the Union Hotel, certainly will not be the last. For me it was the perfect place for lunch with good friends. The onion soup was great, the spinach pie was as well. The dessert, a large brownie with ice cream and chocolate syrup was fabulous. I may return just to try all the desserts. All of this was enhanced by our wonderful waitress Ashley who made our visit all the more enjoyable. Thanks Ashley. Oct 6, 2011 by jaybird

My wife and I visited for our anniversary. We both ordered prime rib cooked medium. My wifes was cooked as ordered but mine was brown. I questioned the waitress and she apologized but could not return it for a properly cooked piece of meat. I never did get to talk to the cook but he communicated through the waitress that since he gave me an end piece that it should be brown, too bad. I would not recommend the Union Hotel to anyone.

Been going here for years, luv the place. Food & service has always been above average. I think their prices are in line too :-). I like the scallops sambuca the most. However, we change it up for something different. Its a unique place and not your same ole, same ole. They decorate the place really nice for the holidaze... Call first to make sure theyre open.

Wonderful food but the service wasnt that great. It is beautiful there and worth the drive as long as youre not in a rush!! Just ask for a pitcher of water to keep at your table so you arent waiting around for something to drink! Im going back- the atmosphere is a lost one these days! Quiet, cozy and tucked away in a small town.

I was able to have my rehearsal dinner at the Union Hotel Restaurant and everything was excellent! Not only were they able to accommodate our group of 25, but the food was so good and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming! I recommend this restaurant to anyone for a nice quiet dinner or if you have a large group.
