Note: This review is on food quality and service, and I expect reader to know what Korean food is all about. So if you have not familiar with Korean BBQ and you are looking for food description, you will not see lots of that in this review. Review and comparison to other Honey Pig: This honey pig location is good. If you are looking for a relax place to eat, talk loud, and drink alcohol, Honey Pig would be the place to be. The interior theme is like going street restaurant/food place. The music inside is fairly loud, and the vibe is "chill". Like I said, street vending is the theme. Ive been to the original Honey Pig in Annandale, VA, and the new one in Germantown, MD. This Honey Pig location have fresh food and good service. I do have to say that this location services have been going down ever since they opened the Germantown location. I understand the reason why this location quality is going down, and thats because they are pulling resources to their new location (thats my business analysis). So, when you are used to a certain quality and then it changes for the worse, you will want to question management on what they are thinking. In all, I am satisfied with this locations food and service compared to the Germantown one. Ive not been back to the Annadale one in more than 5 years (so dont ask). Lots of things could change over that time span. Germantown location gives you less (meat) with the same pricing, and they are slow on their service. The Germantown locaiton have waiter/waitress standing around but they will not come over to see how you are doing or fill up on your drinks. One of the biggest things about having good service at a restaurant is being prompt with drinks refill. In conclusion, I recommend going to Ellicott City location compared to Germantown location. Food is fresh and good, and the service is better than the other locations. FYI: if you are expecting great service like Ruth Chris, Mortons, or somewhere fancy, be ready to be disappointed. Honey pig service is closely comparable to going to a Chinese restaurant and their pricing is on the upper end of the scale. Update (01/2017): Their Ellicott City location service have not been as good as it used to be. Its actually gotten worse. I also want to make a note that I ate something that tasted like a COCKROACH in my salad. It is those little salad bowl they initially give you when you first order food. I firmly believe that is was a roach, but when i spit the salad out, everything was a crewed, and I did not want to dig through to confirm it. I was already sick to my stomach and at that moment I was so grossed out that I didnt want to confirm it. I lost my appetite for everything that came after.

The price of the food has steadily increased over the past two years that I have been here, I used to order something that was $16, I still order the same thing and it is now $22 and you get less food. They overcharge you for rice. I often try to split a meal because its so expensive, if I want my own bowl of rice that is $1.50, which is not a lot but it adds up if you want to get more than one tiny bowl of rice. Rice is not that expensive! I could buy a whole bag of rice for 3 dollars. Soup and steamed egg which were once included with your meal you now have to pay extra for. The service is very poor! They often dont remember to bring things to you and you have to ask several times. They are very rude. After coming with four people and asking to split the bill four ways and each paying off our own amount they stopped us from leaving because they didnt think we tipped enough and demanded more money. I have always been taught that good tips are left on quality of service, so when service is poor I leave 15% and when service is good I leave 20%. Every time I have gone service has been poor and I have left between 15-20% before, but after the particularly poor service we received that day I left 15% and the other people were in charge of tipping however much they felt was enough. One of the members of our party left below 15% because he thought the service was terrible and the employees stopped me demanding more tip money from me, when I tried to explain that we each tipped off our own portion of the bill they got angry with me and kept arguing with me. Eventually after failing to explain that I tipped 15% of my bill, they angrily threw their hands up and muttered under their breath rude comments about us and left. They also try to speak to me in Korean even after telling them multiple times I dont understand, they keep speaking to me in it, and I dont know what they are trying to communicate to me, which they then get upset about even though after they spoke to me in Korean, I told them Im sorry I dont understand, I only speak English! I cannot control what languages I do and do not understand and I did not appreciate the employee getting angry at me because I do not speak Korean. I am half German and half Chinese, have grown up in America and never learned to speak any Asian language. I have loved eating here in the past, and will probably come back every now and then when there is nothing else open because it is 24/7 which is convenient and located very close to my house, but with the rising prices, the horrible and rude service I dont plan on coming back unless Im desperate!

DISTUSTING MANNERS. RUDE & DISGRACEFUL SERVICE. This restaurant markets their hours of operation as 24-hour all over the building. My friends and I (college) decided to come here after a couple parties, only to be yelled at that they were closing at 4am and the kitchen closes at 3:30am. They didnt explain why (we arrived exactly at 3:00 am) while eating they decided to cook all the food we ordered at the same time but on different hot plates around us, inferring that we hurry up and eat and leave. We were being glared at the entire time. I was ashamed about the service after vouching to my friends. Ive been here before in the past and never witnessed such rudeness from the servers. I left no tip as any person would, especially after not having decent customer service. The server followed me outside while I was headed to my car and said "NO TIP? OK NO SERVICE FOR YOU NEXT TIME!" In confusion I asked the lady to please return to her place of business she replied "WHATS THE PROBLEM?" still taking steps toward the car this let me know her body language was insisting for something to happen. I told her to return into the restaurant while telling my friends to hurry into the vehicle so we may drive off. SHE LITERALLY DROVE US OUT! Its funny to see restaurants like this behave as if they are doing customers a favor by doing what they are PAID to do. They were under the influence they were doing us a solid the whole time and then got upset when we didnt tip for BAD & RUSHED service. If you have time to drive I would strongly suggest as a matter of fact IM TELLING YOU do not eat here. Korean BBQ restaurants are abundant in the DC metropolitan area so find somewhere else to dine.
