I was going to a 8pm show at Hippodrone and friend told me about this restaurant. After looking at the menu online, I decide to make a reservation. I should have known then that this place was a favorite, on a Saturday evening the only options we had left(for our time frame) were at 4:45 or 7pm. Of course, coming from DC we ran behind on our reservation, but luckily we were able to claim a spot at the bar rather quickly, seeing as though all tables had a reserved sign. We were greeted immediately and our drink orders were taken. Since we were on a time crunch we ordered an app and 2 entrées soon as we got our drinks. We order the avocado egg roll, which were savory and amazing! Both entrees were Salmon and I highly recommend. After leaving some room for dessert(bread pudding), we placed the order which seemed to take longer than earlier, but definitely worth the wait. Note: Dessert definitely can be shared. *Would recommend a reservation*

I wanted to like it...I gave it a shot. Id heard all good things about it. Server was nice but would disappear for 15 minutes leaving us waiting to order, drinks from the bar took far too long, 1/3 of the appetizers we ordered were never brought out. We didnt have utensils or napkins until after the appetizers arrived and didnt get water until we ordered our entree. Food was good, the few bites of pad thai were delicious until I found a very long hair in it. Its the first time Ive ever had to send food back at a restaurant. The manager and server were very professional about it and apologetic and they brought me a new plate and took it off the bill entirely, but the new plate must not have been cooked properly because my stomach has been growling and Ive been nauseous ever since I left the restaurant. Im sure tonight was an isolated negative experience. Luckily I enjoyed my company this evening, just definitely not the restaurant.

I just had my birthday dinner there with my husband and I and i have a lot to warn you about this place. First of all we had to seat ourselves, no menu, no silverware, no nothing. Our waiter was okay at first. But little did we know, the place was closing in less than 30 min....thats what our server told us. But just for future reference, the kitchen AND the bar apparently close at the same time. 15 minutes after placing our order, which we were rushed to do, our server told us we couldnt get the sushi we ordered(the main reason we went there). I was furious so I went to the manager and he said that he would make it. He did and that was literally the best part of our experience there. Then as we were paying our tab, which was wrong, I addressed the manager again. It was never fixed so we paid for things we never got. The cherry on top was that as we walked out the door our server gelled "FINALLY!" I will NEVER GO BACK!!!

Went here with some clients before an Orioles game for some good food. We were not disappointed at all! Our server, Heather, was fantastic from minute one. Her suggestions and descriptions were spot on and well-timed. We had the calamari and spicy shrimp appetizers. Both were very tasty. The spicy aioli dipping sauce for the calamari was so good that one of our party ordered it for his fries. The mixed drinks were very well-prepared and had a great presentation. Favorites of our table were the Raspberry Crush, Blushing Geisha, and the mojitos. Our table ordered cashew chichen, Ribeye Sandwich, and BBQ Chicken Flatbread. All said they were delish. I can vouch for the Hawaiian Ribeye...it was PERFECT. The atmosphere was both unique and comfortable with a three-section space: restaurant dining, bar dining, and outdoor patio dining. I cant stress enough how great Heather was. Ask for her.

went on a Sunday evening with my boyfriend and we were so looking forward to eating here for years. Sat in the front lounge and were very comfortable. promptly greated by our server whom brought us water and took our drink and appatizer orders right away. he was great and made sure we were well attended to. the decor was beautiful and there are two exquisite salt water tanks full of colorful fish. we ordered the wave roll, steak and lobster roll and fried calamari. both sushi rolls were very good and fresh. the calamari however was flavorless and not crispy at all. if not for the dipping sauce we could not have eaten it. i had the hibiscus margharita n boyfriend had the honey pineapple mojito both were great. for entrees we chose the meatloaf and the lemon shrimp penne, both were mediocre and the pasta was again flavorless. sadly i was very unimpressed and most likely wont go back.

I recently visited Kona Grill on December 20, 2013 and had the worst experience. I was treated with disrespect and classism. I went to purchase a drink at the bar and proceeded to take a seat. I was then told by the bartender that she was saving those seats for her regulars and I would have to get up once they come. Mind you that they was not there at the time and its first come first served. I have never in my life experienced something of that etiquette.I felt shunned and worthless. I asked the bartender where would I go once they came and she said that she dont know. So you telling me that I would have to get up because you are waiting on your regular customers. What form of policy is that? I am a paying customer and she made me feel worthless. I would never go back to this establishment I will encourage others as well not to go because of their unprofessionalism.

The food itself tasted very nice and the times we ate the restaurant, the staff were friendly and the place was clean. However, recently, we decided to order take away and had a very unpleasant experience. After ordering the food online, we walked quite a distance to the restaurant to pick it up. After getting back, we realized the restaurant staff had missed 3 orders and hadnt included them in the take away. We called the restaurant asking about the missing orders. The response we received was, "you can come back and pick it up, or whatever. sorry about that." We are not necessarily upset about them missing out on the orders, as people sometimes make mistakes, but rather at the indifferent and unapologetic attitude we received in response. Although the food is good, I hope Kona grill can improve this aspect of service in the future.

We had a great time at Kona Grill. The sushi was delicious, especially the Seasonal only "Tuna Mango" that one was amazing! Same with the BBQ Chicken Flatbread it was very flavorful! The restaurant has a great atmosphere, modern decor everywhere and nice dim lighting without being too dark to not see the other persons face or the food on your plate. The person serving us could have at least acted a little happier to be there when she would interact with us, but she wasnt so bad as to downgrade her service. She was still very attentive to our needs and received her 20+% gratuity, she may just have been having a bad day. No big deal. My only con is that the specialty sushi is a bit expensive but going into a higher end restaurant like Kona, I wasnt exactly surprised.

A good friend recommended Kona Grill, so I went to Kona Grill for my birthday dinner. The restaurant is nice but small. My food was good; however others in my party didnt enjoy theirs. The waitor we had (cant remember his name) was not good at all. Im not sure if he was new or not, but he didnt know the menu, he charged guess for things they didnt order & was extermely slow. It took over 30 minutes just to get our drinks (we were provided with water until our drinks came out); about 10 minutes later we got our food, which wasnt hot. The waitor just seemed overwhelmed and my party wasnt large at all; only 11 people. Overall, this place is just okay and for the price of the food, I would rather dine elsewhere.
