With awful traffic on I-95, we detoured to Keyes Creamery on a whim during a drive to Northern Virginia. The chocolate coconut ice cream and black raspberry ice cream were well worth the detour. Other guests around ordered milkshakes and hot fudge sundaes that looked really filling and satisfying. Coolers onsite also offer pints and quarts of ice cream, bricks of cheese, and locally sourced beef products. One minor complaint, the operations at this local joint seem to be a little lacking. While it’s awesome that they charge by the ounce for ice cream (rather than a fixed rate for a cone that could have variability in the amount of ice cream), the three workers serving up treats didn’t have organizational cohesion to make the process of order taking, scooping, weighing, serving, and cashing out efficient. Guests were left waiting for ice cream for an inordinate amount of time and while deliberately slow service could add to the farm ambiance, the workers missed the mark. If Keyes Creamery worked out this little hiccup, they would be a 6-star spot! Also cool to note: immediately adjacent to the Hartford County Airport and while you enjoy your cone, you can take a seat in one the outdoor Adirondack chairs to watch sky divers floating to the ground and Cessnas taking off.

Love Love Love! Staff is friendly and welcoming. Flavors are delicious. Yes, a little pricey per cup but its handmade and local...Ill pay it. My son loves the chocolate with gummy bears on top. Coconut is amazing as is the salted caramel! Cheese balls during the holidays are way better than any store bought. Not sure if its good or bad that they are less than 8 minutes from my home lol

Better than good --! Ice cream is delicious and fresh. As for the person who said store bought ice cream is better (!) they need to get their head examined. Either than or they like to eat chemicals. Anywho, go here for yummy ice cream, cheese, and a small selection of local frozen meat. As an added plus, I got to feed the horse/mule in the pasture!

I love this place awesome ice cream the buttery salted caramel is to die for....i cant give it 5 stars because I have one disappointment and that is every time I get the quart size buttery salted caramel it NEVER has caramel and it is such a disappointment. However, it doesnt take away from the goodness of this ice cream

Delicious, fresh dairy products. Enjoy your milkshake while you pet their cow! Many ice cream flavors both for cones and sundaes as well as pints and gallons to take home. Also, assorted cheeses, cakes, etc. Great atmosphere if you choose to eat there. No tables, but a very pretty farm with a couple of animals.

Great place to sit and watch the planes take off and land. Nice staff and delicious ice cream. Keyes is my first choice for down on the farm cheese and ice cream. The ice cream cakes are nicely decorated,fresh and delicious. The Old Bay Sweet Cream is a must try. Keyes found Key to success - Awesome Creamery!!

Such a beautiful quaint ice cream shop amidst a country setting. You can also purchase local farm products like meat and cheese. They have a huge selection of flavorful ice creams and Sundays. My favorite ones are banana, vanilla, strawberry, and raspberry.

What a great place to go get yourself some homemade ice cream and cheeses. The selection just cant be beat. It is a bit on the pricey side, but it hasnt deterred me and my family for making multiple visits during the summer. So take your family and enjoy
