Unfortunately, I have given the newly-owned restaurant 3 fair tries with friends, and have left each time disappointed and wishing I had not eaten here at all. Sorry---I am from the west, have been to Mexico many, many times, and the food prepared and sold as "Mexican food" is quite distasteful. The meat inside the tacos is fatty and did not taste fresh. The service was fine. The toppings caddy is a nice touch because it offers several sauces and accoutrements. The staff is very nice and the food is, well, pretty poor. I was SO looking forward to frequenting this newly-purchased Mexican- advertised diner. Even breakfast isnt as simple and tasty as it was when it was Renees. Sorry! I prepare Mexican food and am VERY familiar with what constitutes a tasty taco. I am truly sad and disappointed about how awful the food was, as I was rally pulling for this place! I felt sick after I ate there 2 out of 3 of the times we went. I will not eat here again, and I suggest that if you go here expecting good tacos, you will be terribly disappointed. Taco Bell would be a 10 comparatively---and their ingredients taste a heck of a lot better. I hope that they change directions, get some outside consultation, and try another route, as I was really positive about their new venture.

Hella good tacos is a saving grace in a town where everyone tries to be the next big thing. Its been a haven for me and everyone I love for some time now, a community where people know what you like, recommend good beers to try, and ask you how you liked that podcast they recommended. My usuals are chayote tacos, nachos, chayote burrito bowls, soyrizo tortas, huevos rancheros (available all day) and chilequales. My partner usually gets cabeza (beef cheeks) burritos. The tortilla chips are the stuff of dreams. We always load up on delicious house made pico, salsa verde and habanero carrots from the salsa cart. And $2 crisp beers plus a mix of local and far away interesting beers. Dont come here if you want to knock a name off your Portland foodie check list. Come here if you wamt good honest food that feels like home. Also, which the star ratings here: the owners have taken over an old diner. Some things, lile the sign or the google name, have not changed yet, so the reviews are for the old establishement. Keep that in mind when perusing!

Went in about a year ago, sat down had no idea they close at 1:00 on Sundays. It was about 12:30 as we waited for another friend to join us, then when we were all ready to order the waitress was very rude and told us that they would be closing soon urging us to hurry. I asked if we had enough time to eat before they close and she replied very rudely "I guess so". At this point I was loosing any interest in spending money in a place where we are being treated as we are a burden. My friend went on to order a hamburger and the waitress with a even more annoyed attitude said that they dont serve lunch on Sundays. She was just simply rude and nasty, we got up and left. I never go to try the food and I will never go back there.

Lingered happily for over two hours on a rainy Monday mid-morning. Friendly staff greeted regulars by name, refilled my coffee repeatedly, and never once made me feel bad about camping out alone on a four-top while all the other tables turned over at least twice. Two eggs over-easy with home fries and toast turned out to be perfect when all I was looking for was a warm, dry place with coffee. The home fries were actual potatoes (not sweet potatoes) cooked and griddle-browned nicely. Not greasy!! This seems to be mainly a Breakfast-All-Day place, but I heard chatter about the weekend turkey dinners being a big deal in the fall leading up to to Thanksgiving.

When first arriving at diner it was a happy fun place to be. Was sitting at bar facing the cooks. The two youngs cooks were working well together doing a great job. The two waitresses were friendly smiling and doing a great job, also. Then everything went down hill. The manager Judy came into the kitchen and it went all downhill from there. She was such a loud bully, treated staff horrid and hatefully. She made everyone in diner in hearing distance upset. One waitress she especially targeted. I left diner with the shakes it was so upsetting. It was sad to see such a nice atmosphere ruined by one bully boss.

WTF happened to this place. Really tacos diners dont serve tacos its obvious new management knows how to F*** up a good thing. Its bad enough its on an obscure corner and now your trying to take on a texmex theme if you want real tacos this is not the place it might be a South of the boarder location but Canada doesnt count for Central America food selection. If this place survives the winter it would only be due to fool customers that have no problem being insulted with food selection and service. DINERS DONT SELL TACOS change the name you cheapskates.

This was probably the most shite place I have ate in. The food tastes like it was created out of cold war rations left in the sun too long. The chick at the desk had the cheek to charge us 26 dollars for a dish of tacos that tasted like absolute utter Shite. This place is a disgrace to the human race. Tear down the Diner sign and throw up a "Condemned for dog shite food" sign.

Possibly the best tacos that I have had in Portland thus far! The restaurant is kind of hard to see from the street because there is an old red sign for a diner right by it. Stopped by on a thursday night and there was a local band playing. Great fish tacos, pulled chicken tacos and I LOVE the self serve salsa bar.

Ive noticed this diner has lots of regulars and I mean lots. My wife enjoyed our breakfast after a jaunt around the backcove. Food was excellent, service exceptional and atmosphere friendly. There are many places for breakfast in Portland, but if you want a good breakfast at a fair price give this diner a shot.

"Hella long wait" good food, really slow service and front end management in general. Its so weird they charge for sour cream. The keep forgetting orders I was there for 1.5 hrs and they messed up literally 4 times on takeout orders. Wow... and they frogot to make my friends burrito.

The tacos are hella good, which is surprising this far north. The salsa bar is also legit with four different salsas and several pickled veggies (and lime wedges of course). Funky decor and counter service. Eat like youre on the peninsula but actually find parking.

Man at the counter immediately greeted us upon entering. Took he time to explain the menu and what the popular dishes are. Food was fast and tasted fantastic. Atmosphere was very comfortable and inviting. Will definitely come again soon.

Authentic Mexican food! Cute hole in the wall with amazing food. The gentleman at the counter ( the owner I think) was super nice and helpful as I had no idea what to get. I will definitely be back the next time Im in the area.
