I am at a loss for why people like this place so much. Its always crowded and you have to wait in a long line outside "Rockin Rickys" Tavern to get in. When you are finally seated, the booths, tables and chairs are FILTHY. We are not fussy people, but when we glanced around our area, all we could see was literally dirt, dust and food all over the floor, on the seats, between the seats, and large cobwebs floating around the lighting fixtures and on the walls. I do not trust restaurants that dont follow basic sanitation and cleanliness. Honestly, I just cant imagine what the conditions are out back, where patrons cant see...Scary. The food portions are huge; and I mean disgustingly huge. Has anyone heard of the obesity and cholesterol problem in the this country?? Everything on our plates was shiny from grease and oil and either deep fried or smeared with butter. To see the plates overflowing like this may be "a great value" to some, but we found it to be offensive, gluttonous and nauseating. Breakfast not only looked like it was plated for a Giant, but sat in our stomachs like a brick of greasy fat. There are far too many good breakfast places in town that offer great healthy food in a clean environment. This is NOT one of them.

It was my first trip to Portland, Maine, and I was telling Christine L. that I wanted to try a place that I would want to go to every time I visited her here- and somehow we found Bintliffs! The restaurant has a rustic early American feeling with a great and friendly vibe from the staff. After a moment of taking in all the delicious sounding items on the menu I ordered the Lobster Eggs Benedict. It was my first time in Maine and I was going to get a proper first timers breakfast meal! What an amazing dish! It came with a hefty portion of lobster, pair of poached eggs, over a bed of farmers greens, and a side of hash. The hollandaise sauce went really well with both the eggs and the lobster- my only qualm was that there wasnt enough sauce for the lobster! The lobster was cooked really well, not rubbery or firm at all and spiced with enough kick to really blow my palette into submission.. yes it was really good! The dish was cost effective for the amount of food and for the amazing taste- a must have when on the hunt for a hearty New England breakfast!

Just about loved every single thing the bf and I ate for brunch. We order enough food for 4 people because everything sounded so good. We got the pancake with cheddar cheese, scallions and bacon served with the (very strong) bourbon maple syrup. We also go the cinnabon swirl pancake, granola crusted French Toast and the eggs benedict served on top of crab cakes. Our favorite was the Pancake with cheese, scallions and bacon. BRUUH... SO. GOOOOD. The cinnabon pancake was definitely a runner up though! The crab cakes with eggs benny was okay. I think it sounded better then it tasted but it was still good! The granola crusted french toast was good but kind of bland. It was a very thick slice of bread so I think it couldve soaked in the egg/milk mixture it bit longer to cut down the dense bread. Another thing I loved is that you could order 1, 2 or 3 pancakes! So it made sharing and ordering a handful of things a lot easier and well-worth it!!

This is THE place for breakfast, although Im fairly certain that lunch is great, too. The Eggs Benedict is perfect: silky hollandaise flows in abundance atop two perfectly poached eggs on tender English muffins. The potatoes on the side are delicious,well-seasoned and feature a moist, generous serving. (II generally hate hashbrowns or potatoes with eggs.) The waffles are perfectly crafted and are not soggy. Huge pancakes could easily be used as Frisbees--giant and generous and tasty. Great coffee and sublime service. The bartender makes sumptuous drinks and is not stingy. Dont miss this gem on Portland St. tucked into a little block across the street from the big Portland Post Office,

Had real high hopes for this, had great Yelp reviews and we are foodies so it was on our too do breakfast/brunch spots. Food was ok, but the service was awful. We had to wait ages to get seated, but the dude was nice so we didnt mind. After being seated the waitress was so rude to my girlfriend and I, she took 20+ mins to take our order whilst seeing to all of her locals that were eating there at the time. She was being un-attentive, rude, and even when we wanted to pay she would just keep going off and talking to one of the male servers that she blatantly fancied.. the food was ok, very whatever.. dont be fooled by the pictures, this just seems to be a local spot.

From Buffalo and love good food... This place was amazing... its our first time in Maine and we didnt want to make the mistake of going to touristy spots with long waits, high prices, and sub-par food. We came on Labor Day weekend(Sunday)...and had to wait about 25 min but they give you coffee while you wait. We got seated on the back patio(highly recommend asking for a patio seat) and got Huevos rancheros and the corned beef hash(first choice would have been lobster Benedict but $20 for breakfast is crazyyy) and our son got just eggs, potatoes, and sausage. All amazing...superior service, great food, awesome atmosphere. Highly recommend! You wont be disappointed!

Formally known as Bintliffs, this is probably my favorite breakfast spot in Portland. The menu and prices are perfect - not one complaint on either. The mimosa selection is amazing and their eggs benedict or cinnamon roll pancakes are drool worthy. The only downfall is the lengthy wait on weekends and the little to zero room to wait inside for a table. They do an excellent job of grabbing your name when you come in, and turning tables in a timely manner but during the winter you should prepare to wait outside or be crammed inside to wait your turn. Absolutely recommend this spot for breakfast/brunch to anyone and everyone.

I love this restaurant, though you do need to get there early for seating. The food is fresh, the wait staff are plesant, and the setting is cosy. The only complaint I ever had was when they removed Apple Cinnamon Stuffed French Toast from the menu. Also, for you highly paranoid types, you can see the kitchen and cooks from the area just beyond the door. So you know their not cutting corners on preparing your meal. Name another restaurant that confidant in their chefs behavior.

BEST BREAKFAST EVER!!! My husband & I tried this place today on a friends recommendation. Its just a little place, but the decor is really cool. Our server, Jonny, was so laid back, but very attentive! Dave had the corned beef hash which is truly homemade and he declared it to be phenomenal! I had the apple cinnamon raisin stuffed french toast-also phenomenal!!! Neither one of us could finish our meals! Cant wait to go back!

Went there late 1:30ish. They close at 2. Seated us right away. The service was amazing. Being there so late didnt seem to bother anyone working. Great ambiance. Jazz music and old/antique furnishings. The food was so great! If you like any type of eggs benedict, this is the place. I had Louisiana Bayou- andoille sausage on corn bread cakes. Soooo yummy! Definitely would return next time in Portland!
