I recently went to New Orleans for spring break and found this place on a whim after having a muffuletta from Central Grocery. I was lured in with the happy hour sign that read "Oysters 50 cents". Coming from Los Angeles, I found that the service was extremely slow (and not just your typical NOLA slow, the waiter had forgotten us for more than 30 minutes!!). If it wasnt for my girlfriend, whos a VERY laid-back native, Im pretty sure I wouldve left right away. Id suggest sitting on the first floor during happy hour, even if they recommend the second floor to you (which they did to us). Choosing the second floor made things sooo much more inconvenient, since they obviously pay more attention to people on the balcony. I had ordered two dozen oysters ($12 for 2 doz.) and some sweet potato fries ($5). I regret ordering a Barqs since it was a fountain Barqs, not from a bottle. The save that would ever have me returning to the restaurant again would definitely be the oysters. Man, they were soooo delicious. I had gone to ACME for some less than stellar oysters the other night and had spent much more than the oysters at the French Market restaurant. I told the server that the oysters were fabulous, so he told me it had been grown locally (what oyster isnt in LA, duh) from so and so special place in Louisiana (I wasnt really paying attention to him...) Well wherever they got it from, they did a good job. I had the best oysters there. I will probably visit the restaurant again if they have the same happy hour special. If you like dozens upon dozens of raw oysters, and if youre around the quarter, skip out of spending way too much money on ACME. Head on over to French Market restaurant during the happy hour. Yeah the service isnt great, as everyone says. Who cares, to be honest, I liked the oysters that much.

I went to the French Market Restaurant for breakfast and had a great service experience then went again at night to try their dinners to the bar across the street where you can see them boiling the seafood from the outside and our waitress was extremely rude to us. Krysten messed up our order and confronted my friend for about not ordering correctly, I got in the middle of her argument and. I agreed to keep the dish then she exclaimed "Good, thats what you ordered". Furthermore, I took a bite of their jambalaya and it had no flavor at all and i decided to get something else, after waiting for her to check back on us she argued with me for wanting to talk to the manager and said she was the manager. I explained to her that I did not want the jambalaya and wanted to order something else since that was still not what I ordered. At this point she had changed the story and said I was the one who had ordered that and not my friend (who she has already argued about this dish) With a rude attitude she grabbed the plate out of the table and said" youre going to wait 15-20 mins for your new order" after almost 30 minutes she brought in my dish and to that point I was so unsatisfied that did not even eat it. She checked on us and refilled our drinks once and for some reason she was being nice and friendly to their other tables except our table. I understand we all have our days, but theres always manners to treat a customer and she clearly did NOT have any. I also asked another server for the managers name and Krysten happened to be not the manager.

4.5/5 +everything we ordered was amazing +big portions +the seafood artichoke dip was GODLIKE +hush puppies -food preparation could be too long for some people -they need more personal The place smelled strongly, not a bad type of smell but the usual Cajun and seafood smell youd expect. Infrastructure was OK, cleanliness was ok. Our waitress was running from side to side, and some tables were getting impatient and the place wasnt even half full, it didnt bother me, but they need one or two more waiters We waited 30 min for the food to arrive, I am extremely patient when it comes to food so no problem there, but for some people I guess 30 min could be a lot. Everything we ordered was great, (they were out of crawfish sadly), we ordered the seafood platter (it comes with an enormous amount of fries), the alligator sausage(it was great), crab cakes, and the spinach seafood dip (I love spinach-artichoke dips, this is the best Ive ever had) also, hush puppies were really good. I will definitely visit again in the future. I would 100% recommend it if you can stand the waiting time.

Muffaleta and Poboy were OK, if not a little disappointing. For the Po Boy, I was not sure what to expect, but what I got was very basic. French bread, lettuce, tomato, shrimp poppers. Thats it. You build it yourself and try to hold all the little poppers inside the sandwich as they spill out of the sides. It tasted fine, but again, very basic, no charm to it whatsoever. The muffaletta was the same deal, basic/plain parts on a large french roll, not a lot of "character" on that sandwich. I did however enjoy the crawfish which Ive never eaten before, and they were good. The family did not walk away hungry, ample serving sizes. Would not go back though, I regret not getting something from within the actual French Market which had a LOT of good looking food and sandwiches.

When we first started visiting New Orleans, we very much enjoyed this place, until we got more comfortable with the city and realized the prices they charge here. Of course, this is in the French Quarter so it is walk-able and comfortable for most tourists. When we did eat there, the food was always great, and the service is also always friendly and attentive. However, the prices are really exceptionally high. They were charging around $15/pound for crawfish....crawfish that you can get at some places outside the Quarter for less than $4/pound. If you dont want to leave the Quarter and dont mind paying the high prices, I would say that this place is as good as any. However, just know that it seems like a place geared towards tourists with inflated prices.

We had to come after seeing the boiling crawfish the night before in passing. It most definitely did not disappoint. The crawfish was delicious and the salmon on arugula was pleasant, but the staff is what made this great. Our waiter gave us northerners a lesson on eating crawfish and kept our glasses full, another staff member chatted us up about his recent visit to Michigan where he was shocked to learn we dont have grits, and Nolan the manager allowed us to stay upstairs late and watch our Lions lose their playoff football game. They also let us on their balcony to view the passing parade for the start of Mardi gras. The staff was on point from start to finish. If youre in the area, stop in for some amazing praline topped bread pudding!

if your looking for good food avoid this place. we could smell the food from down the street it smelled wonderful. we walked in waiting for amazeing seafood. what we got was expensive tasteless mushy food. i orderd crabs and being from louisiana expected much better then what i got. they offered 3 crabs yes 3 thats nothing. my wife got the seafood platter and all she ate was the fries and hush puppies. she said the soft shell crab taste like rotten mush. the fish taste like it was soaked in water and black pepper and was also mushy. the fried shrimp tasted like seasonless batter. really this is not the place to try if your looking for the seafood experience. there sweet tea, fried alligator and service is the only reason it got 2 stars.
