I was blown away with the service, food, and atmosphere at Evangeline. I made a special reservation for a bachelorette dinner for my best friend and our friends (10 people total) in their outdoor courtyard. The outdoor courtyard was private with exposed brick and twinkle lights- perfect for a romantic and fun occasion with plenty of room for all of us and other tables comfortably. The staff had our table ready on time, kindly greeted us, and brought us drinks right away. They gave us complimentary shots to start as well! The food was very authentic to New Orleans and delicious. By the end of the night, the owner came out to make sure everything was great and even gave us bottles of champagne to toast. My best friend told me it was "the best dinner she ever had because they made her feel so special" and made sure everything was wonderful! Huge thank you to the owner and staff for making this such a memorable experience for all of us. We cant wait to come back!

I just read some previous reviews and Im not sure they were for the same business. We stopped there last night in between act at French Quarter Fest. Four adults, all over 60 and well dressed. We waited at the front door, about 2 1/2 feet from what must have been their equivalent of a maitre d, for a little over 10 minutes. He looked at us a number of times but showed absolute no recognition or emotion. Finally he asked how many were in the party. We told him 4 and he said it would be at least 45 minutes. And walked away without another word. We then went right down the street to the restaurant at La Galarie and had an amazing meal for less money. Theres too much good food in our city to put up with self pretentious service employees and badly managed eateries.

I had the best meal Ive ever had in New Orleans at Evangeline. It was the catch of the day, Red Snapper Courtbouillon. Delicious! I was there toward the end of the evening so the chef came out and spoke to me, which made my experience even more memorable. My waiter was Early (thats his name, not a description of his arrival) and he took excellent care of me. The other wait staff also greeted me and made me feel right at home. For dessert I had the Bread Pudding Beignet which was also wonderful. Evangeline will definitely be on my list of places to eat during future trips to New Orleans! Oh, by the way, sit in the courtyard if the weather is nice. It is a peaceful respite from the busy streets.

I visited Evangeline a couple days ago, and was blown away by my experience there! The restaurant itself is beautiful and feels very European. The food was an outstanding representation of Louisiana fare... I had the fried alligator bites (best Ive ever had), the crawfish and grits entrée, and their made-in-house cheesecake for desert. Everything was perfectly delicious! Finally, our server, Donny, was wonderful. His service was fantastic and he made great recommendations. Both he and the owner made us feel so welcomed and went out of their way to make our experience a great one. I cant recall ever having a better restaurant experience!

Im not sure how to write a review worthy of Evangelines. The service was everything youd hope for. Friendly staff, knowledgeable bartender, servers that love their job and are beyond helpful, a chef who comes out to joke with you, and the owners. They are a breed of their own. They both made a point to greet and say hello to everyone. Outstanding service! The food was so good we came back to eat every day we were in New Orleans. We tried something different each time and nothing disappoints. The bologna sandwich is nothing to joke about, its to die for. This place is a must for anyone looking for incredible food and service!

We got such a good vibe entering the restaurant, but when more and more people started to come the attention from the servants got worse as well. We ordered the Evangeline pasta and Crayfish and grits, the last of them was really good but the pasta was so peppery that you couldnt taste anything else. Even though you kind of noticed the freshness from the shrimps it all got eaten up by all the pepper and we literally had like 2 liters of water to our meal to cope with it. 2 bachelorette parties and one bachelor party screaming their lungs out didnt really ease our night.

The food was wonderful, however the place itself and the service were just "okay". We sat outside in the courtyard, which was lovely, but it was very quiet...almost uncomfortably quiet. Could have used some music to make it a little cozier. Our waiter was nice but kind of slow, and not very attentive even though there was hardly anyone else there. I would eat there again if they improved their service and added a sound system or had live music. We ate there because of its proximity to the House of Blues, and I would recommend it as a nice before-show dinner.

Really enjoyed this place. Really nice staff/venue and food was great. I had the blackened bologna sandwich and it was really special. An exquisitely crafted affair, both in taste and structure. I followed up with the Decatur Ave Sundae, which is bonkers (look it up) but delicious. I felt it could benefit from another couple of scoops of ice cream (more like a cocktail than a dessert as it is) but our waitress was more than happy to oblige and the end result was a triumph. I would recommend unreservedly.

Such a cool place! The interior and ambience is incredible, the food and drinks were outstanding and the servers were friendly, inviting and attentive. I tried the sweet potato fries with remoulade sauce and the Nola House salad with chicken. Both delicious! We visited for a Bachelorette party and they didnt skip a beat with our big group. They also let us do separate checks which was great. Also had a small jazz set playing Christmas tunes and it added to the great atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

Actually the service is not bad. They where vey attentive to start with but when it started to fill up the service became way slower. The pasta had waaay to much pepper but in all fairness they offered us a complementary entree to "fill the gap". The reason it does not reach a four star is because the final check came out wrong and we ended up paying about $30 too much. Stupid not to "check the check" but still, should you really have to do this?

I first visited Evangeline a few years ago, but only had a drink on their fantastic back patio. This trip I went for dinner and was not disappointed. I really enjoyed my Creole Jambalaya, and my wife loved her Pasta Evangeline (I also enjoyed the bites o stole from her pasta). The Bread Pudding Beignets for dessert were delicious. This is a great place to visit on Decatur Street.

I found this restaurant to be all hype. Friendly Staff but the food was completely overpriced and overrated. The alligator bites were good ( again small portions! Picture a saucer not a plate) the Jambalaya was made with processed chicken ! Not authentic! The crawfish and grits were disgusting, we were completely disappointed, Food Network my a**. Dont waste your money !
